Les observer aux très hautes énergies permet d'explorer des processus physiques fondamentaux, comme les mécanismes d'accélération des particules et les processus radiatifs à l'œuvre dans les jets. 🔭 Dans ce contexte, les réseaux de télescopes au sol, capables de détecter la lumière Cherenkov produite par l'interaction des rayons gamma dans notre atmosphère, jouent un rôle clé. Toutefois, la modélisation de ces sources nécessite une approche multi-longueurs d'onde, combinant des données obtenues de la radio aux rayons gamma pour reconstruire leur distribution spectrale d'énergie et leur variabilité. 🎙️ Derrière chaque résultat scientifique se cache donc un immense travail de coordination, de modélisation et de gestion des données. J'ai découvert Practical Philosophy au Canada et j'ai tellement aimé que j'ai décidé de l'importer à Paris (il y a aussi une branche à Lyon si vous n'êtes pas de la région). **🏛️ C’EST QUOI, LA PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ?** Practical philosophy, c’est un rendez-vous hebdomadaire où des esprits curieux se retrouvent pour creuser un sujet, affûter leur façon de s’exprimer et tisser des liens. Pas besoin d’être un pro de la philo pour participer, tout le monde est le bienvenu ! 😎 L’idée, c’est que la philosophie, ce n’est pas juste pour les profs d’université. Chaque semaine, on choisit un thème et on en discute pour aiguiser notre esprit critique et nos talents de communicants. C'est aussi une manière d'apprendre à mieux se connaître soi-même, en affirmant et argmumentant ce qu'on pense réellement. Bref, on bosse sur trois piliers : **Pensée Critique**, **Communication** et **Communauté** 🙌. **📓 COMMENT ÇA MARCHE ?** Chaque semaine, on se focalise sur un sujet qu’on décortique ensemble. I have been studying the question of "self" online with Prof. Ellie Anderson and so I thought a prompt on the "self" might be interesting. Full confession: I had Claude create this prompt and I like it, so here goes: Imagine a thought experiment that merges two classic puzzles: > You undergo a procedure, performed neuron by neuron, in which every biological component of your brain is replaced with a functionally identical synthetic substitute. At each step, your behavior, memories, and personality remain unchanged. When the last neuron is swapped, is the consciousness experiencing the world still you? And — more pressingly — was there ever a continuous "you" to begin with? ### Questions to Wrestle With * If consciousness is purely physical, does the *gradual* nature of the replacement matter, or is it equivalent to being destroyed and rebuilt? * Could there be a "self" without continuity of experience — even moment to moment, while you sleep? On a more practical level, consider the simpler case first: **hemispherectomy** patients — people who have had an entire cerebral hemisphere surgically removed — often retain a strong sense of personal identity and continuity. This suggests "you" are not rigidly tied to specific physical material. But does that vindicate the synthetic neuron case, or merely show that identity is more *flexible* than we thought — not that it can survive *complete* substrate replacement?
