Let's meet for some conversation in German.
As it is sometimes difficult in Switzerland to practice high german, in 2010 we decided to organize a conversation group that is free to everyone who wants to practice german and socialize.

Brexiles - English Comedy Night in Zurich Kreis 4
Join three of Switzerland's sharpest comedy imports, all the way from the UK, as they navigate life post-Brexit in the land of cheese, chocolate, and punctuality. Expect a side-splitting evening of biting wit, dark satire, and self-deprecating British humour, as these three exiles attempt to make sense of their Swiss existence while grappling with the baggage of their homeland.
**Tickets: [https://eventfrog.ch/brexiles/](https://eventfrog.ch/brexiles/)**
Do all British people have terrible teeth? Are they all actually addicted to tea? Are the royal family actually peadophile lizards? Does anyone actually care anymore? Come along for answers to these questions and more, and pose your own to our panel of cultural experts\* to win a free drink!
\*mid-aged comedians who used to read the news in the early 2000s
Featuring:
**[Harry Fücks](https://www.instagram.com/harryf.cks/)** is a half-German who grew up in the UK, where he witnessed too many late trains provoking wristwatch-staring fits from his German genes. He later moved to Switzerland, the last place in Europe where trains run on time, to avoid constant triggering. Now over 50, a single dad, and failing to live up to his name, Harry uses comedy as his coping strategy.
**[Jack Roberts](https://www.instagram.com/jackrobertscomedy/)** comes from a long line of pale, broke, miserable northern bastards. Growing up in Manchester he is also exceptionally cool with impeccable taste in music and football. As difficult to understand in English as he is in German, he endeavours to speak clearly about all that is troubling him - join him for crazy antics, high jinks and fun!
**[Shawn Jay](https://www.instagram.com/shawnjaycomedy/)** is a stand-up comedian, writer, and wandering vagabond philosopher who escaped the grim north of England in his early 20s and never looked back. He has toured all over Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe, including a full run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he premiered his solo show 'A Fun Guide to Nihilism'. Now a regular on the European circuit, his unique brand of thought-provoking humour swings from silly to surreal, tickling your funny bones as well as fingering your brain.
With over 20 years collectively in the biz, this show is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and whether you love or hate the British, there is something for everyone.
**Reparations Spot**: Each show will feature a guest comedian from a country which was formerly colonised by the British. This is our way of personally apologising for the hundreds of years of murder, subjugation, and terror inflicted upon the peoples of the planet. We hope you agree that we are even now.

ZH3 Hash # 1716: Winter is cumming (again)
Just when you thought you could stash the thermal leggings and show some skin - surprise! Winter took one look at your pasty knees and decided to cum again... This week’s trail promises the full Game of Thrones experience: cold winds, possible snow, and the vague sense that nobody will survive past the beer stop.
Hares have bravely marked a scenic route through what used to be “springtime” but now promises to be full of that white sticky stuff we all love. Expect shiggy, frozen fingers, and the chance to reflect on your life choices while wondering if hot mulled wine counts as a balanced electrolyte replacement.
Circle will be in the Platz next to Wipkingen Bahnhof and on-after will be Gelateria di Berna.
**Where**:
Wipkingen Bahnhof Mobility car
**When:**
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.
**All Welcome:**
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

If the event will happen in more than 30 days, I haven't added the survey in the channel yet.
(Because message in a WhatsApp channel can be read by a new member only 30 days before he joins. But you can already enter the corresponding WhatsApp group)
If you are concerned about privacy, only the admin of a WhatsApp channel can see who has voted in a poll (unlike a WhatsApp group).
Please sign up only when you are certain!
You can also register through Meetup, as it helps build momentum; however, I rely only on the number of people who signed up through the WhatsApp survey.
Zurich Friends of Haskell - General Assembly
Every year the Zurich Friends of Haskell meet for a general assembly as per the [statutes of the association](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-8eHAK40hiH5jv79AscWtf3pyUNxx4Ls1LwkpLYK--8/edit?usp=sharing).
The purpose of the Zurich Friends of Haskell is to organize ZuriHac and the HaskellerZ meetup. The general assembly gives you the opportunity to learn what the association has been doing in the year 2025 and to contribute to ZuriHac, the HaskellerZ meetup, and the Haskell community in Zurich.
The general assembly is open to all members of the ZFoH. If you are not a member yet, please head over to [the ZFoH website](https://zfoh.ch) and sign up for membership.
The agenda is as follows:
1. The board will present a summary of the association's activities in 2025.
2. The treasurer will present the financial report for 2025.
3. We vote to discharge the board for their work in 2025.
4. We will discuss the goals and aspirations of the association for 2026.
5. We will elect the board for the years 2026 & 2027.
Please let us know if you have further topics you would like to discuss.
Note: members of the ZFoH will receive a separate invitation via email. Please RSVP to this meetup event anyway so we get an accurate picture of who will be attending. Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing you at the GA!
PS: We'll be holding a regular HaskellerZ meetup right after the general assembly, to be announced as a separate Meetup event. Please RSVP for that event separately once it is announced.

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process.
Fast track
• Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell).
• Show up and try it out.
• Complete application, etc. later.
Normal process
• Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/).
• Attend orientation in advance.
• At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility.
• Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM.
• Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895).
The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
