**Sketch & Draw from Life â A Creative, Hands-On Workshop**
Discover the joy of drawing from real life in this guided sketching workshop. Youâll learn the fundamentals of freehand drawing, including how to observe carefully, understand proportions, and translate what you see onto paper.

Writers' Workshop
Join us at Museum Strauhof for an opportunity to enjoy, discuss and learn from excellent writing. We'll have a private room at Zurich's literature museum, less than a 10 minute walk from Zurich HB. There will be three reading and discussion slots and an opportunity to meet other writers.
A few notes for prospective writers:
1. You arenât required to share your own work and should feel encouraged to attend simply to enjoy and discuss the work of others, if you prefer.
2. All genres, formats, and styles of creative writing welcome, noting that the focus will be on discussing English-language fiction (or creative non-fiction). Poetry is likely to be better suited to the marvellous ZĂźrich Poetry Club.
3. All abilities are welcome, from those just starting out to those who have already made progress in their writing, from hobbyists to professionals.
4. There will be three reading slots for each session, allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please indicate in the comments for the event if you would like to share something.
5. If you would like to share your writing with the group, you can do so either by reading aloud or allowing group members to read directly. You can expect to read for 5-7 minutes (approximately 600-1000 words) with 15-20 minutes provided for discussion afterwards.
6. If possible, please bring sufficient copies of any writing that you would like to present, so that everyone can read it themselves. You can also request written feedback.
7. Improving as a writer requires both guidance and encouragement, so you can expect the discussion to be constructive and courteous - we all know how challenging it can be.
We hope that you will be able to join, and look forward to seeing you there!

Metalheads Gathering - Metal Together
Join us, metalheads of Zurich and its surrounding areas, in our monthly Wednesday meetup for some afterwork drinks, chaotic socializing and listening to heavy music!
**Where?**
This meetup will be held at **[Norden Bar](https://www.norden-bar.ch/)** \- a Nordic\-themed bar which offers an assortment of beers\, mead & liquors from all over Scandinavia\, as well as several tabletop games and a giant log for Hammerschlagen\!
**When?**
The gathering will officially begin at \~7:00pm and normally goes until midnight. However, members often arrive slightly earlier and might stay until the following day! You are welcome to join at any point and leave whenever you please.
**Attendance:**
Attendance can vary, but the number of people at the gatherings is normally somewhere between 20 and 40 metalheads! The group is comprised by a balanced mixture of longstanding members, semi-regulars and curious visitors.
**Chats:**
Get invited to our chat-groups by introducing yourself at one of the meetups! We currently offer an "official" chat for announcements, updates on events & organizing concerts, a "fun" chat for casual discussions & informal events, and a meme chat for silly discussions and somewhat thematic memes. You can join neither, some or all!
**FAQ:**
"*How can I find the group?*"
We normally reserve one of the larger tables at the bar and decorate it with a large black flag. If you still have trouble finding the group, feel free to approach the bartenders and they will point you our way. We also use name tags, so talk to anyone with a name tag visible and you are already part of the group!
"What happens if I arrive late?"
Nothing really. We will give you a warm welcome and introduce you to the others, no matter at which time you arrive đ
"*What can I expect from these meetups?*"
Think of a common "after-work meet & drink", but in a themed bar, with lots of band-shirts and metal music playing in the background. Guests normally show up, grab a drink and join a clique for a conversation.
"*Do I need to be a hardcore metal fan for this meetup?*"
Not really. The theme of this meetup is indeed metal music and most members do have a liking for it, but plenty others are more casual listeners or more into rock/punk/goth. We welcome all!

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation donât just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
Weâll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for allâthe venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.
Happy writing!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
