Mental Health Meetup: Frustration, Anger and Rage, Amai!
Mental Health Meetup: Frustration, Anger and Rage, Amai!
**Theme for this event:** *Frustration, Anger and Rage, Amai!* You've moved to Belgium, the dust has finally settled, and here you are... annoyed! Irritated! Ungrateful! Whether anger is intimidating to you or it's all you can feel, join us in this small group session to get in touch with this often misunderstood emotion. Come share your experience and learn from others, feel where anger shows up in your body and find out what you might learn from it. Previous group therapy experience not necessary, a willingness to share and be curious is encouraged. **Context for Mental Health Meetups** In 2025, IHL conducted a survey to understand how internationals in Leuven and the surrounding areas were doing. One thing internationals mentioned they needed more of was mental health support. So we are launching Mental Health Meetups at IHL. Each month, different topics will be featured relating to mental health. The events will be hosted by mental health professionals, bringing their expertise to the international community. These events will be in a variety of formats. Some will be informational, conversational, interactive, etc. It's a safe space to participate how you would like (active or passive).
Intervals Workout Session 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻 Bois de la Cambre
Intervals Workout Session 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻 Bois de la Cambre
We do cycles of 4-6 weeks, with a progressive intensity, and the last session is lighter. Program: 15’ warm up **To be defined** Cool down to get back to the starting point… or more S=All out sprint RF = Run fast, at MAS (Maximum aerobic speed) CF = Run comfortably fast (1h threshold) J = Jog, recuperation Notes: It should take about one hour in total, as the cool down will end when we reach back to the meeting point. It's NOT required to have an activity tracker or smart watch to be able to follow the program, as I'll be giving signals with a whistle. For the "run" part, you can follow your own pace and we'll be regrouping in the "jog" part. Intervals training is not advised for total beginners. To have an idea, the average pace at the warm up is around 5'45"/km-6'/km so this pace should feel very comfortable ***Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability.*** By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organizers from any responsibility and liability in all claims. As the participation is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves.

Deep Conversation/Street Philosophy - Question Chosen in Session
Deep Conversation/Street Philosophy - Question Chosen in Session
Welcome to our weekly event in the upstairs room of The Sister Café, rue Chair et Pain 3, one block from the Grand Place. Please get there early enough to order your drink at the bar first. Thank you! After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations. Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy: What is a genuine friend? Is social media turning us into emotional zombies? Do we lose some of the experience of things by defining them? Are we driven by sex? Is loneliness a personal failure? Is morality relative? **Crucially, be kind and respectful and generous** in your disagreements; remember how much you personally enjoy someone else proving you wrong before celebrating your cutting counterexamples.
Women's Circle: Walk around Arenberg
Women's Circle: Walk around Arenberg
A women’s circle is a gathering of women, by women, and for women, to come together in a safe space and supportive environment without judgment. We will share, listen, connect with our ourselves and our sisters. We might laugh, we might cry, we might share, we might just listen, but we come together with deep respect for one another’s journey, experience, and where we are at this moment in time to hold space for one another. To honor the sanctity and safety of the circle, we will create some guidelines for how we'll be together and what values we'll hold in our time together. The women's circle invites you to be in your heart, for whatever may be needed in the moment. This session will take us out into nature and enjoy a walk around the Arenberg campus. After the walk there will be a possibility to get drinks together. **Meeting Point**: In front of the Arenberg Castle: https://maps.app.goo.gl/A88qXN6VzQSJNPH98 What to expect: * 1.5-2 hrs hours of quality time for yourself, in the company of others. * Please arrive between 5 minutes early so we can start on time * We will enjoy a beautiful walk around the Arenberg campus. This is an easy walk of about 4 km. What to bring and to know: * Please bring comfortable shoes for walking and check the weather before hand to dress accordingly. * If you have signed up but cannot make it after all, please cancel here on MeetUp, so we know not to expect you and so you can make that place available for another woman who may want to join.

Freedom, Safety, Risk & Reward
Freedom, Safety, Risk & Reward
How are the dynamics of freedom, safety, risk and reward all interrelated? Is it simply a question of how we can always maximize both freedom and reward? What roles do risk and safety/security play in this system? Can freedom and security be considered simply both as rewards, each with its own values and merits? Are freedom and safety (not) nevertheless zero-sum related, more of one entailing less of the other? How are freedom and risk-taking related? Does risk-taking (not) by definition always mean less security? The concept of risk can mean: 1)the probability of something bad occurring ("frequency") and/or 2)how bad that bad thing can be ("amplitude") What implications do each of these two different types of risk carry regarding both freedom and security? How are freedom, risk and recklessness interrelated? What does the concept "freedom to make the best choices" mean? Is individual freedom at the expense of safety (not) over-prioritized in our current world culture (possibly in some regional cultures more than in others)? Or, seemingly contrarily, is our culture/society in fact overly-obsessed about safety? Is it true (or not) that risk-taking always leads to greater potential reward? Is risk-taking nowadays - possibly as a result of (and/or to promote) capitalist culture? - (not) _ethically_ overvalued? Are some regional cultures in today's world more reward-driven (for example, to become rich, glamorous, famous and powerful) than others? What should be our ideal culture/attitudes regarding rewards and the earning of rewards? What values should we give to freedom, risk, reward and safety in a _war_ situation? In our society/world, should there be _fewer_ or _more_ rules with regards to risk-taking, security and reward? Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception** Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory. For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy. She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps). Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way. **About Our Speaker** Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Condado has since been named to the Inc. 5000, recognized as Breakout Retailer by Chain Store Age, and consistently ranked among FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers. Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk.
