Official Launch Party: Free Social Mixer
Official Launch Party: Free Social Mixer
Please join us for a **free social mixer at Holmes Hall in Moonee Ponds** in celebration of our **one year anniversary**! Over the past year, we've been building **[LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne](https://www.instagram.com/lgbtsocialhubmelb/)** into a community we're really proud of. We've found our rhythm with varied events every 1-2 weeks, a great selection of locations, a combined total of over 3000 followers, and some great collaborators that share our values - **and we're just getting started.** No community is possible without its members: the folks willing to put themselves out there to meet new people. That's why we want to celebrate this milestone with you! Your ticket purchases and donations throughout the year have allowed us to begin spreading the word on other platforms and continue our rapid growth! For that reason, **we will not be accepting donations for this event** \- we'd like this to serve as a "thank\-you" to those who've been before\, or a chance to try us out for the first time\. **What to expect:** * you will be greeted by an experienced host upon arrival * we'll be giving out name tags to make introducing yourself easier * prize giveaways * light catering * a safe and friendly environment where social barriers are relaxed; we're all doing this for the same reason - to meet new people! LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne aims to provide a safe space for everyone; bullying, harassment and discimination will not be tolerated.

Forgiveness
Forgiveness
Somebody cuts in front of you out on the freeway. How do you react? You will never see them again, and it was probably unintentional anyway. Is it really that easy to forgive? Is it healthy? What happens when you are really suffering and your own suffering is unheard, even by you? How incredibly difficult it is to ‘forgive ‘in real world situations, yet we are told that students of the Ancient Wisdom who wish to aspire to spiritual advancement must ‘Learn to Forgive; Learn to Love’. Let’s look at Forgiveness in various religious traditions and advice from modern psychology and the Ancient Wisdom/Theosophy on pathways to Forgiveness. There will be time to discuss this thorniest of problems with attendees and even role play a few situations calling for Forgiveness. Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
