Debate Night: Introverts vs extroverts
Are you the kind of person who happily spends the evening recharging at home with a book? Or the one who somehow leaves a party with three new friends and a plan for brunch next weekend?
Introverts and extroverts often approach the world, and their relationships, in very different ways.
Some people value quiet moments, deep conversations, and a small circle of trusted friends. Others thrive on social energy, group adventures, and the joy of bringing people together (sometimes adopting strangers along the way). But when it comes to friendship, do these differences actually matter?
Join us for a lively and good-humoured debate as we explore the strengths, stereotypes, and surprising qualities associated with introverts and extroverts. Whether you recharge in solitude, in a crowd, or somewhere in between, come share your perspective!
This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into four teams of two.
Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience.
⚠️ Disclaimer:
We aim for debates that are respectful, constructive, and welcoming.
• Respect ideas and people: Listen actively, stay quiet while others speak, and debate arguments, not identities or beliefs.
• Be concise and civil: Keep questions short and relevant; avoid hostility, hate speech, or discrimination.
• Respect boundaries and time: No unwanted advances or suggestive behavior; arrive on time to avoid disrupting the debate.
• Follow moderators: They guide the discussion and ensure fairness.
Looking forward to seeing you there 😊
“International accents, real connections"
Nine years ago, I created this project with a simple idea in mind: bringing people together 🤝. What started as a small gathering slowly grew into something very special. Through this event, I’ve met extraordinary people, built beautiful connections, and shared unforgettable moments with thousands of participants from all around the world 🌍.
This project has truly changed my life. Seeing strangers become friends, hearing different languages around the same table 🗣️, and witnessing genuine human connections has been one of the most rewarding experiences.
After a two-year break, I’m very happy to say that we are back 🎉. And I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone again — old faces and new ones — and continuing this journey together.
This meetup was created with the intention of connecting people, and it remains a safe and welcoming space where every opinion matters and inclusivity is the pillar of the event 🤗.
Whatever your reason for coming — curiosity, practicing a language, meeting new people, hanging out, disconnecting from work, or simply nostalgia — you will be warmly welcomed in a respectful and open environment.
⭐ **Golden Rules**
Respect everyone – Every opinion and culture matters 🌎
Be inclusive – Make space for everyone at the table 🤝
Listen as much as you speak – Real connections come from sharing 👂
No discrimination or harassment – This is a safe space 🛡️
Stay curious and open-minded – You never know who you’ll meet ✨
Entry: **No fee, just grab a drink 🍹**
**“International accents, real connections” 🌍🗣️**

Donations Pay for the Brussels Saint Patrick's Day Parade
What we'll do
Brussels Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Fund Appeal
The Parade still needs your Support! We had a wonderful Parade on Sunday 15th March, now it has to be paid for with a little help from you. There was no pot of gold waiting for us a the end of the Parade but plenty of entertainment.
Dear Friends of Ireland,
On Sunday 15 March 2026, the Saint Patrick's Day Parade of the Nations & Regions Committee organised their 18th annual Brussels Saint Patrick´s Day Parade of the Nations & Regions in historic streets in the city centre, safer and more event, children, and visitor friendly. The Parade assembles at Les Halles Saint Géry from 13.00 and moves off at 13.30, pass the Bourse, pass Galerie Anspach, Munt Plein and the Saint Hubert Royal Galleries, and returning to Les Halles Saint Géry. We also stopped in the Grand Place where VIPs will review the parade from circa 3.30 pm from the Balcony of the two stairs at the City Hall. There will be piped and marching music and a jazz street band to play music recitals to set the atmosphere.
The 17th of March is the national holiday of Ireland. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated in every corner of the world and parades take place in over 140 cities annually where Irish communities have settled. These global celebrations are a symbolic of the impact that a small country has had through the movement of its people.
The parade is centrally important as it brings different aspects of Irish art, music, and culture out into the public sphere and invites everyone, Irish or not, to celebrate positive values of inclusion, openness, and community.
For Brussels, the parade highlights the city's position as diverse, international capital and strengthens the bonds between two small European countries with a lot of shared history.
The Parade is the perfect platform to showcase all that the Brussels Capital has to offer in terms of its rich and varied architecture, cultural attractions, museums, art galleries, historic buildings, and its hospitality with a wide choice of hotels and enticing travel concessions. All this is enhanced by the impressive choice of restaurants with international cuisine.
The entire organisation of the Parade is organised on a volunteer basis, but such an event has administrative and material costs. Each year we rely on donations, and we hope that the same people won’t have to pay the costs each year. We need “a little help from our Irish, Belgian and international friends”. A small donation is all that it takes. The scale and size of the parade is directly proportionate to the donations we receive and the number of volunteers we have available to help organise the parade.
We want the day to be fun for all the participants and spectators, we want to put on an event that we’ll be proud to have shown on TV around the world to showcase the EU Capital and Ireland’s and other Nations and Regions active participation in the European Union, and we want it to run smoothly so we can repeat it and even expand it next year. That’s what we’re asking you to contribute to.
Participation is free and it makes a lovely afternoon family outing. Individuals, friends, work colleagues and cultural groups from all nationalities are welcome to walk in Parade. There is no participation fee. **´´Wear the Green and Be Irish for Day´´**

***
### **Topics We Cover**
**5\. L’avenir de Cuba**
Transition politique, réforme économique progressive ou stagnation durable ?
***
### **What Makes This Different**
***
### **Why This Forum Exists**
Langues actuellement possibles :
– English
– Français
– Nederlands
– Español
– Italiano
***
### **What We Ask of Participants**
***
### **This is not a dating meetup**
https://chat.whatsapp.com/LX7UkWGZ3UdLQWLBvNdezN
The goal is not exclusivity, but accountability and quality of discussion.
If this format doesn’t suit you, this event may not be the right fit.
Football match at Parc du Cinquantenaire
If you have a ball, please bring it...
Let's gather at the Parc du Cinquantenaire close to the Tour de Tournai (https://goo.gl/maps/RsxFtTJydq92) and organize a *low-level* football match on the grass. Unless it rains badly as we're about to play, the game is on.
Players of any age, weight, sex and size are allowed. Come as you are, at any time after 4pm.
IMPORTANT REMINDER -- As Shitty Players, we don't bite or growl when someone misses the ball. We don't do penalties or yellow cards because we're so gentle we don't need them. We vaguely know of the existence of other rules like off-side but we'd rather ignore them than argue about them. We may or may not keep track of the score: this is a game where everyone wins.
To help build the Team, come with 2 t-shirts white and black (or similar colors: light grey and dark blue etc). Beer session will follow on the grass, for those who survive till the end.

Sunday After — Cards, Pool, or the City
Some Sundays don’t end at lunch.
After the garden BBQ event we do every Sunday ([link here](https://www.meetup.com/the-club-connect-share-explore-enjoy-repeat/events/313489633)), a smaller group usually stays around, and the evening slowly takes its own direction.
Sometimes we play cards. (Uno, Undercover)
Sometimes we go for a game of pool.
Sometimes we end up exploring a bar or dancing somewhere in the city.
There is no fixed plan.
The idea is simple: **good people, good conversation, and see where the night goes.**

Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM.
It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
• How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes.
• Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
• Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
• Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
• Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
• What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others?
• How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
• Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
• How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
• How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!
This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Hope to see you on March 28th!
