NuCalm - Brain Health
NuCalm is a patented, drug-free neuroscience technology designed to rapidly reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and aid recovery by shifting the body from a "fight-or-flight" state to a deeply relaxed parasympathetic state within minutes.
It uses neuroacoustic software, a biosignal processing disc, and light-blocking eye masks to guide brain waves from active beta states down to alpha/theta (relaxation/meditation) levels
NuCalm uses a patented, clinically proven pitch and frequency matrix with non-linear oscillating algorithms to safely present your brain with precise signals, prompting what is known as a frequency-following response. Your brain synchronizes with the incoming NuCalm signals helping you naturally and effortlessly manage your state of mind by speeding up or slowing down your brain wave frequencies.
NuCalm has mapped all of your brain wave frequency zones and created products to safely and predictably guide you to whatever mental state you desire.
The amazing thing is, NuCalm is all-natural and works every time you use it within minutes.
The best thing to do now is to watch the video on the website and download the NuCalm app.
All you need is a headset and eye mask. This app purchase is covered with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Get started today and FEEL the difference even 15 minutes can make.

**How Bad Terraform Reaches Prod: Building Azure Guardrails That Actually Work** - **@Maple**
Terraform makes it easy to ship cloud changes fast, including the risky ones. This talk is a hands-on walkthrough of a small Azure lab where I intentionally introduce common "oops" changes (public exposure, missing tags, unsafe configs) and show how they slip through a typical IaC workflow unless you build real guardrails.
**"Do not obey in advance" - Cybersecurity in the Fight Against Techno-Authoritarianism - @Mendas**
Cybersecurity protects free speech and human rights. It plays an important role in resisting authoritarian regimes and protecting democratic freedoms. This talk discusses how encryption, anonymity tools, and similar technologies can help activists, journalists, and citizens evade state surveillance and censorship. Discussion highlights how digital resistance strategies can be used to counter oppression.

If you can't attend the event in person the talks will be streamed in the "ruxmon-stream" voice channel in the Ruxcon Discord in the day of the event! (join now by clicking here: [https://discord.gg/g2CpEbkXmM](https://discord.gg/g2CpEbkXmM)

Westwood | Kawakubo Exhibition @ NGV + Coffee and Connection
Join me to experience over 140 works of two of the most visionary and influential fashion designers in recent history, Vivienne Westwood and Rei Kawakubo. We will meet, explore the exhibition, and have a tea, coffee or something to eat together from the Arts Centre Cafe in the NGV gardens.
*‘Emerging in the 1970s, both rebelled against rigid social expectations to find artistic and economic freedom through fashion. Self-taught iconoclasts who challenged the ‘rules’ of dress, their work is grounded in the desire for change. Throughout their careers, Westwood and Kawakubo have reframed ideas of beauty, gender and the relationship between body and garment through their rejection of fashion norms.’*
Entry to this event is ticketed, a full priced Adult ticket is $40

Werribee Gorge Off Track Adventure - Grade 5, Difficult, 12km
**Werribee Gorge Off‑Track Adventure Circuit — Scrambles, River Crossings & Big Grins**
*This is a serious grade 5 hike, similar in sone sections to the Cathedral Ranges Southern Circuit but generally without the exposure*.
Ready to ditch the manicured trails and step into something a little wilder? This is a 12 km off‑track circuit through the heart of Werribee Gorge, weaving together hidden tracks, rugged terrain, rocky scrambles, three cheeky river crossings, and a whole lot of “I can’t believe we just did that” moments. Expect 4–5 hours of proper adventure, teamwork, and big views across one of Victoria’s most dramatic gorges.
**⛰️ What to Expect**
- Off‑track walking on rough, uneven terrain
- Three minor river crossings (yes, your feet may get wet)
- Low‑grade scrambling using hands for balance
- Minor hill climbs and occasional bursts of strenuous effort
- Countless small obstacles to negotiate together
- A swim option for the brave — the water here is gorgeous
- Lunch together in a picturesque location
- A huge sense of accomplishment at the end
This is a real bushwalk, not a Sunday promenade. You’ll need a healthy, adventurous spirit and a willingness to help each other out.
I used to be a hiking guide and climbing instructor if that gives you a clue on the type of route this might be, I’ve done this special route many times with many people that I've taken for a little adventure — very few people know it exists, and it’s an absolute gem.
**Note:** As a proper adventure style hike conditions may dictate the route, nothing is certain and we may need to find alternative routes if necessary. Times are only an estimate and please give a large allowance as to how long things actually take. If you have strict schedules, don't come on this trip.
The walk will be done at a pace that may be slow due to the terrain that needs to be negotiated and for observing all the amazing natural wonders along the way.
**📍 Start Time & Meeting Point**
11:00 a.m. sharp
Meikles Picnic Area, Werribee Gorge State Park
Please aim to arrive by 10:45 a.m. — there is usually no phone reception, so once you’re in the carpark, you’re in the communication void.
**🎒 What to Bring**
- Hiking boots/shoes (preferred) or sturdy runners (the are some step slippery sections where having a heel and decent lugs as opposed to flat soles would be far better)
- I'd bring a pair of sandals or thongs for the river crossings unless you prefer bare feet or happy to clomp around in wet footwear
- 2 litres of water minimum
- Snacks + lunch
- First aid kit, whistle, hiking pole, gaiters (if you have them)
- Swimwear/towel if you’re keen for a dip
- A sense of humour and a willingness to get a little dusty
- It's a team effort, so a willingness to help each other out
- Bring clothes suitable for a hike, not street clothes.
**Ideally**
Gaiters, Whistle, First aid kit, small backpack
**⚠️ Experience & Fitness** Requirements
This walk requires:
- Prior bushwalking experience
- Reasonable fitness
- Comfort with rough, rugged ground, scrambling, and uneven surfaces
Because this is a more demanding route, the event will be waitlisted.
If I don’t know you, please include a short description of your recent bushwalking experience and current fitness level. This helps ensure everyone on the day can complete the circuit safely and enjoyably.
***I reserve the right to refuse participation of people that are improperly equipped and dressed, this is a demanding trip***
I will only accept around 8/10 people on this trip
**🍻 Post‑Walk**
We’ll wrap up with a well‑earned drink at a Bacchus Marsh pub — the perfect way to toast a day of adventure.
**Group policies**
**👀 Attending Without Being on the Going List**
This is a security issue.
**Do NOT turn up unannounced**.
If you’re not on the Going list and haven’t arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event check‑ins are performed.
**🚩Disclaimer: No Liability & Organiser Indemnity**
By participating in this event, you acknowledge and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety, wellbeing, and belongings. The organiser assumes no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during the activity. Participation is entirely at your own risk.

Philosophy in the Park: Event 100
**100th Event Celebration!**
Please join us this Sunday at 2pm for our first Philosophy in the Park walk and picnic event to celebrate our 100th event at Philosophy Circle.
We will be meeting at the **Tecoma Pavilion in the Royal Botanic Gardens**. Please bring a plate of food to share, or donate $15 and we will buy a plate or drinks to share on your behalf. You must RSVP to this event by Sunday, 12pm to attend!
We also kindly ask attendees to donate $5 to attend to help with MeetUp subscription costs & our usual in-person venue costs. This is not mandatory, but if you are a regular member it would be appreciated.
From Tecoma Pavillion we will walk to the picnic spot, put down our things and go on a short philosophically curious(!) walk around the gardens before returning to the picnic location and enjoying the rest of the day in the park.
Hope to see you there!

The Graduate
This 1967 film is widely regarded as one of the best American movies ever made. Now remembered almost as much for its Simon and Garfunkel music as its deadpan comedy and being the role that established Dustin Hoffman as the hottest actor in Hollywood. It became a cultural icon for capturing the spirit of 60s angst of a young man on the make, while garnering a batch of Oscar nominations.
After watching the movie on your own, join us to relive (or experience!) those feelings at our discussion.
Risky Business
...and speaking of breakthrough roles: who can forget the first time we saw Tom Cruise singing Bob Seeger in his underwear? Often considered an updated 1983 version of The Graduate, the movie sparkles with memorable lines and original music. I only regret that I was never told that "Princeton could use someone like Bob..."
See the movie first and join us for some "Cruisin'"
April Social - Rehab Tavern Franklinton
After a short winter hibernation, we are back for warmer weather events!
We'll kick things off with our monthly social at [Rehab Tavern ](http://rehabtavern.com/) located in Franklinton!
**Address**: 456 W Town St #460, Columbus, OH 43215
You'll find us at a large table with CAC flyers and placards!
We'll be discussing what warm weather events you'd like to see such as hiking, biking, kayacking, etc!
Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Hope to see you on March 28th!

Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM.
It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
