Session #29 - Teal organizations: evolution from hierarchy or utopia?
Session #29 - Teal organizations: evolution from hierarchy or utopia?
*“In a forest, there is no master tree that plans and dictates change when rain fails to fall or when the spring comes early. The whole ecosystem reacts creatively, in the moment.”* *―* **Frederic Laloux**, Reinventing Organizations: A Guide to Creating Organizations Inspired by the Next Stage of Human Consciousness **(Session in english!)** Frederic Laloux is a former management consultant and organizational theorist best known for the book **Reinventing Organizations**, where he argues that human organizations evolve alongside human consciousness. Drawing from developmental psychology, systems thinking, and real-world case studies, Laloux proposes that many modern companies still operate with industrial-age assumptions centered on hierarchy, control, and bureaucracy, even though the nature of work and society has fundamentally changed. His work became influential among some founders, innovators, and organizational reformers searching for alternatives to rigid corporate structures. At the center of Laloux’s vision is the idea of “Teal organizations”: companies built around self-management, personal wholeness, and evolutionary purpose rather than traditional command-and-control leadership. Influenced by thinkers such as **Ken Wilber**, Laloux presents organizations not as machines to optimize, but as living systems capable of adaptation and emergence. His ideas are both inspiring and controversial, praised as a blueprint for post-industrial collaboration and criticized as overly idealistic, difficult to scale, and even utopian. **Introduction of guests (15 minutes)** We start with a short introduction of the topic and of the guests 1. What kind of organizations have you been a member of? 2. Was there anything in common in the way they operated? **Questions (1 hour and 45 minutes)** 1. What sense does it make to categorize organizations into consciousness levels? 2. When it comes to organizations, should efficiency or harmonious functioning be the primary goal? 3. Is personal fulfillment a good foundational goal and guiding principle for an organization? 4. Can dynamically distributed authority function in the long run? 5. How solid a foundation for success is the self-organization of roles based on earned authority and trust? 6. Alongside self-organization (i.e., without overarching control), can it be guaranteed that every necessary role will have a sufficient number of competent members? 7. Is full transparency in finances and decision-making sustainable? 8. Is trust-based delegation necessarily better than competence-based delegation? 9. Is it not dangerous to optimize for pleasantness when one may have to face serious competitors? 10. Can the claim really be true that the propaganda proclaims: "the question is not whether you are good enough"? 11. Can actual quality of life be measured through feedback about how a person feels? How reliable a reflection for one's quality of life is one's sense of happiness? 12. Is it sufficient to weight the evaluation of an idea based on the degree of involvement of the voters? 13. Can a parliament whose members are selected based on popularity rather than competence truly be competent 14. Can a community feedback-based competence assessment be as good as an objective test-based one? 15. Does it make sense to speak collectively about the fulfillment of the people? 16. If people make decisions by relying on results provided by AI, are those decisions truly their own? 17. If a country was to transition to the Teal model today, how could it enforce its laws? 18. Was the Zappos example more of a good initiative or a bad one? *** **RSVP:** Please confirm your attendance here on Meetup to save your space and if you cannot assist, yield your space to another person in the waiting list. We welcome donations from 1.000 HUF (min 400 HUF) to keep the costs of the meetup. **If you order food, or alcohol-free wines, you dont need to donate for the group. Thank you!**
Embodied Emotions
Embodied Emotions
# Integral self-awareness workshops in Budapest Do you ever react more strongly than the moment seems to call for? Do you ever wonder why the people you love most can trigger the biggest reactions? Do you ever say something in the heat of the moment and later wish you had responded differently? Do you ever notice how quickly closeness can turn into tension, defensiveness, or withdrawal? Do you ever get overwhelmed by a tone of voice, a look, or a silence you can’t quite explain? Do you ever feel your body respond before your mind understands what is happening? The integral self-awareness group is a safe and accepting space where you can observe your inner processes and how you relate to others. You can gain insight into recurring patterns and experiment with more conscious, new ways of functioning. The group supports you in letting go of your defensive layers and connecting to yourself and others without judgment. This offers a deeply nourishing experience of acceptance, while also helping you become aware of inner processes that often remain hidden in everyday life. The focus is on experiencing bodily sensations and emotions, often beyond words. The practices are mostly movement-based and require no prior experience. The method is based on integral psychology, associated with Ken Wilber, combining Western psychology with Eastern perspectives to support personal growth and a more loving, present way of being. Join us if, alongside the flow of everyday life, you’d like to connect more deeply with yourself – both your light, vibrant parts and your more shadowed aspects. We work together in a closed, small group over four sessions, in a safe and supportive environment. **Who is this for?** This group is ideal if you haven’t yet participated in a self-awareness process – especially a movement-based one – and would like to try it. You’re also very welcome if you already have experience but are currently looking for a shorter commitment. **What is it about?** We all carry an inner child within us that shapes how we see the world and ourselves. It holds both our resources – spontaneity, curiosity, joy – and the deeper patterns formed through early experiences. This group helps you recognize and reconnect with these parts. **What will you gain?** • A connection with your inner child • Deeper self-connection and emotional awareness • Greater freedom in experiencing your feelings • Acceptance: the experience of being who you are • Insights and experiences that integrate into daily life • A taste of integral self-awareness work The sessions build on each other. At the end of the first session, we ask for your commitment to the full process. **Application** Joining the group is preceded by a short conversation where we get to know each other and decide together whether to work together. If the decision is mutual, your place can be secured with a payment of 7500 HUF, which will be applied to the fee of the final session. The remaining session fees are paid per occasion. Registration here: [https://forms.gle/9zeRqwDq25Nib6JC8](https://forms.gle/9zeRqwDq25Nib6JC8) The events will take place with a minimum of 5 participants. **About the host:** Eszter is a long-time expat, a mother of three, and an integral counselor. She left her home country at the age of 21 to study in Paris, where she first experienced how deeply financial resources — or the lack of them — can shape a person’s life. She began in the expat bubble with her boyfriend, then gradually opened herself to the people and culture around her. She had her first two children in Paris before moving back to Hungary after eight years. Back in Hungary, she took over her mother’s company while raising children as a single mother after her husband left her. At the same time, her grandmother was living with Alzheimer’s, and her mother was caring for her, which meant Eszter carried the responsibility of helping provide for seven people. Trying to find a way out of this pressure, she moved to what became her second home, the Czech Republic, to join a man who later turned out to be toxic. Despite having three children, one of them still a toddler, she chose to raise them alone rather than remain in an environment that was harmful to them. After surviving — and eventually thriving — alone with three children in a country whose language was difficult to learn, she took on several jobs. One of them involved guiding tourists, where she discovered her gift for building trust and connection with people within just a few minutes. When the pandemic made travel impossible, she continued deepening this path by completing a coaching certification. Yet she felt coaching was not gentle enough for the kind of relationship she wanted to offer her clients. That led her to begin a three-year training in integral psychology and become an integral counselor. Because their rage required, she also took on the role of supporting her elderly parents, traveling 500 km twice a month to check on them. Since than she has been living the reality of so-called “sandwich caregiving,” caring both for (the more and more independent) children at home and parents who have become increasingly dependent on her emotional support. Her parenting journey has also brought her through profound challenges: supporting a daughter caught in an anxiety cycle around visits to a narcissistic father until she could eventually stand up for herself; learning to hold and accept a son’s digital addiction while, over time, setting clearer limits around how she could support him; and enduring one of the hardest experiences of all, when her other daughter went through amnesia and cut off all emotional relationships, including with her. These experiences led Eszter into a deep therapeutic journey of her own. Through it, she learned how powerfully defense mechanisms serve to protect life, how reparative emotional experiences — especially those within families — can bring healing, and how even one stable, safe attachment can become a life-giving container for a child shaped by trauma. Today, her mission is to support parents in being parents. She believes that while therapy can be deeply valuable, the most important factor in a child’s life is a safe relationship with a caregiver. When parents can offer that, they do not only support their own children — they also help interrupt patterns that would otherwise be passed to the next generation. For Eszter, this work is not only about helping the individuals she meets directly, but also about contributing to a healthier future for humanity. Having lived for more than 20 years as an expat in two different countries, she has learned both how to stand strongly on her own feet and how that same self-reliance can come at a cost. She lives with a condition that will likely remain part of her life forever and requires great discipline around food and daily choices. This has taught her something essential: freedom is never the absence of limits. Rather, freedom lies in the tiny moment of awareness between what happens and how we respond to it. That is the heart of the work she now offers to clients: helping them hold multiple perspectives, become more accepting and compassionate toward their own choices, and meet both inner experience and outer circumstance with greater awareness. Eszter believes that when parents become aware of their own triggers and can separate them from what belongs to the child, parenting becomes much easier. And when we understand the needs and impulses a child is acting from, we can meet them with more acceptance, more understanding, and more loving guidance — rather than fear, conflict, or control. She sees therapy, in many ways, as a substitute for the good-enough, loving, accepting parent. And one of her deepest intentions is to empower parents to trust that they, too, can become that kind of presence for their child.

Thursday Morning Flow
Thursday Morning Flow
[Please register via this link if you’d like to join!✨](https://www.sanctuary.hu/service-page/thursday-morning-flow-08-15-en?referral=service_list_widget) This morning Flow class is a light, continuous practice designed to gently awaken and energize the body for the day ahead. We don’t stay in one pose for too long — movement is guided by the breath, creating a steady rhythm and a sense of flow throughout the class. The pace is soft and seamless, helping the mind settle while gradually building warmth, strength, and mobility. The practice supports releasing stiffness, increasing circulation, and creating space for clarity, focus, and a grounded start to the morning. We close the class with soothing stretches after the dynamic sequence, allowing both the body and nervous system to soften and reset before moving into the rest of the day. Each class follows a weekly changing theme, offering a fresh focus and a new experience every time you step onto the mat.
ProductTank Meetup
ProductTank Meetup
We’re excited to host our next Product Meetup, co-organised by Wise & Startup Hungary. We have three insightful sessions lined up for you: **PM-ing a Product Nobody Asked For - András Lebó (Product Manager at Wise)** Data scientists can build anything themselves. That's what makes them the hardest users to build a platform for. They have notebooks, custom pipelines, workarounds that work. Why would they switch? András will share his learnings on PM-ing a data science platform: finding the real bottlenecks, earning trust from users who could out-engineer your solution, and measuring success when your contribution hides behind another team's objective. **Building the Engine Behind the Product - Balázs Dósa (Product Manager at Wise)** Ever wonder what happens when a fintech serving 19M+ customers decides to bet big on internal platforms? Join us as we pull back the curtain on: * The Why — What made Wise go all-in on internal platforms * The Hard Parts — The real challenges no one warns you about * The Payoff — What success actually looks like (and how we measure it) Whether you're building platforms, considering the investment, or just platform-curious — this one's for you. **Build to Learn: How AI Tools Are Changing What's Possible for Product Managers - István Szabó (Product Manager at SAP Emarsys)** "Can we ship this table tomorrow?" Sometimes the most important product work is knowing what NOT to ship. Learn how one PM used AI tools to independently investigate a production data issue—tracing through two codebases, validating 82,000+ records across multiple customers, and delivering an evidence-based decision in half a day instead of one week. We'll walk through the real investigation, and show you a repeatable "Build to Learn" practice you can start using next week to tackle PM work that was previously impossible. ## Schedule: * 18:00-18:30 - Arrival + Intro * 18:30-19:00 - PM-ing a Product Nobody Asked For * 19:00-19:30 - Building the Engine Behind the Product * 19:30-20:00 - Build to Learn: How AI Tools Are Changing What's Possible for Product Managers * 20:00-21:30 - Drinks, Pizza, Networking 🍕

Hello everyone, Welcome to the Monthly Book Club — the discussion edition of the Budapest Silent Book Club for those who enjoy reading the same book and sharing thoughts together. This May, we’ll be reading *Why Nations Fail* by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson. The book explores the monumental question of why some nations are wealthy while others remain locked in poverty, diving deep into the powerful role that political and economic institutions play in shaping a country's destiny. It’s a thought-provoking, sweeping read that opens the door to deep conversations about history, economics, power, and the structures that govern our societies. 🕕 **Time:** 18:00–20:00 – Group discussion about the book (no silent reading hour this time) 📍 **Location**: Lumen (we will be outside in the backyard garden). I’ll bring a few discussion prompts, but everyone’s thoughts are welcome. Whether you loved the book, found it heavily debatable, or didn’t quite manage to finish — you’re invited. This month's book was the winning choice voted by you! If you want to have your say on what we read next, make sure to join the poll in our Goodreads group. **Follow us:** 📌 **[Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1271292-budapest-silent-book-club)**[ ](https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1271292-budapest-silent-book-club)(monthly book club voting) 📌 **[Facebook Page](https://www.facebook.com/people/Budapest-Silent-Book-Club/61567388151835)** (previous books read in sessions)
Pranayama & Meditation 19:00/EN
Pranayama & Meditation 19:00/EN
In this session, we dive into Pranayama, (an ancient practice to discover the flow of energy within) and the power of conscious breathing, which is one of the most important aspects of the original yogic lifestyle. On these Tuesday evenings, we do more than just a breathwork session: this is an opportunity to explore a true harmony between our breath & the mind - body connection. We begin with a 15-minute chest-opening yoga sequence to gently expand our lungs and prepare for deeper breathing (no need for gym clothes though, just an open mind). Then, we explore different breathing techniques designed for self-awareness, relaxation, and energy flow. These classes are designed to help you discover how breath can be a tool to balance, energize, and center yourself. To close, we immerse in a short yet profound "silent concert", a meditative sound journey where 174 Hz sound waves or white noise guide us into a state of deep harmony. Whether emotions are light or heavy, thoughts are clear or clouded, this is a space to simply be and find some peace. Yoga & Brunch with live handpan
Yoga & Brunch with live handpan
There’s something special about a Saturday morning that begins slowly - with movement, music, and a shared meal. This Yoga & Brunch experience is an invitation to pause, reconnect, and step out of the usual rhythm of the week. Join us for a morning of 🧘‍♀️ Flow yoga 🎶 Live handpan music 🥣 Vegan brunch ✨ A calm, inspiring space in the heart of the city We begin with a 75-minute Flow yoga practice, guided by Ivett and accompanied by Richárd’s live handpan music. In this gentle, continuous flow, the breath leads the movement — creating a natural rhythm where the practice becomes a moving meditation. Ivett has been practicing yoga for over ten years, with a background in contemporary dance. In her classes, the connection between breath and movement is at the heart of the experience. “For me, yoga is not just physical exercise — it’s a path back to myself.” Richárd’s music responds to the rhythm of the practice, shaping a soft, immersive atmosphere. “My relationship with music is born from presence: from an inner silence that slowly takes shape as outer sounds. For me, this is a co-creation. The intensity of the asanas shapes my playing, while the sounds in turn influence the space and its atmosphere. I’m happy we can experience this together.” Brunch after the practice After the class, from 11:15, we gather for a nourishing brunch by Smoothie Sanctuary. You can choose from freshly prepared shots, juices, smoothies or smoothie bowls made from premium ingredients. Participation fee 12,000 HUF / person ✨ Ticket for two available Join with a friend, partner, or someone you’d like to share this experience with - select the 2-person option during booking 20,000 HUF / 2 people (instead of 24,000 HUF) Registration Spaces are limited, therefore advance booking is required. Please reserve your spot through the link provided in the event.

Franklin Park Conservatory / Columbus Brewing Company
Franklin Park Conservatory / Columbus Brewing Company
**History** The [Franklin Park Conservatory](https://www.fpconservatory.org/)’s roots trace back to 1852 when the Franklin County Agricultural Society purchased 88 acres of land to host the Ohio State Fair. After the fair moved to its permanent home, the city of Columbus transformed the grounds into Franklin Park in 1884. This transition shifted the space from a temporary event site to a dedicated public green space for the growing community. The park became a central hub for outdoor recreation and early civic gatherings in the neighborhood. In 1895, the landmark Victorian-style Palm House opened its doors, drawing heavy inspiration from the Glass Palace of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This iron and glass structure became an immediate icon, housing exotic plants that residents would otherwise never see in the Midwest. It remains the oldest part of the facility and serves as a primary link to the conservatory’s 19th-century origins. For decades, it stood as a singular testament to grand horticultural architecture in Central Ohio. A major turning point arrived in 1992 when Columbus hosted AmeriFlora '92, an international horticultural exhibition. This massive event prompted a $16 million renovation and expansion, adding significantly more greenhouse space and the Dorothy M. Davis Showhouse. The festival put the conservatory on the international map and fundamentally changed its scale and ambition. Following the event, the facility transitioned from a city-run park to a private, non-profit organization. In 2003, the conservatory’s identity was further defined through a long-term partnership with world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. After a successful exhibition, the Friends of the Conservatory purchased most of the glass installations, creating the largest permanent collection of Chihuly’s work in a botanical setting. These vibrant glass sculptures are now woven throughout the biomes, blending art with nature. This addition helped cement the conservatory as a premier cultural destination rather than just a botanical garden. Recent years have seen the site expand beyond the glass walls to emphasize community engagement and outdoor education. The 2018 opening of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden added two acres of interactive landscape designed for hands-on learning. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Community Garden Campus also provides local residents with space to grow their own food and learn sustainable practices. Today, the conservatory balances its historic Victorian charm with modern commitments to local ecology and the Columbus community. **Maps of the Conservatory** Here is the [main map](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/franklin-park-zones-scaled.jpg) of the Conservatory grounds. Here's a [map of the areas](https://www.fpconservatory.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/ConstructionMap-2026.jpg) in which the Conservatory has ongoing construction (see below). **Summary** For this event, we'll explore Columbus's highly-rated and very popular Conservatory. As mentioned above, the Conservatory is doing renovations on parts of the facility. These renovations are scheduled to be ongoing until the Fall of next year. Basically, no matter when you go to the Conservatory over the next 18 months, you're going to see some metaphorical orange barrels. So let's just go now. **Tickets and pricing** On the first Sunday of every month, the Conservatory is free for residents of Franklin County and the city of Columbus. You must bring an ID to receive this discount. (Yes, they do check.) Otherwise, tickets are $25.20. Members of the Columbus Zoo (of which I am one) do get a discount on tickets, though I have never actually bought a ticket to the Conservatory (I've always gone on free days). I believe the discount is $4. Parking is always free. If you have additional questions about pricing or whether and for what you qualify, you can reach the Conservatory at 614-715-8000. **Where we'll meet** We will meet just outside the main entrance. I guarantee there's going to be a line. The Conservatory is always popular on free days, and especially in nice weather. **Your GPS is stupid!** Be careful simply typing "Franklin Park Conservatory" in your GPS and going where it tells you. The only way to access the parking lot to the Conservatory is off of Broad Street. Unfortunately, since Google Maps is unable to find its way out of a wet paper bag, it has a tendency to want to take people to a mythical, non-existent Conservatory entrance on Nelson Road. If your GPS does this, just drive to the north side of the Conservatory along Broad Street. Your GPS should then redirect you to the main Conservatory entrance. If your GPS doesn't, then throw your phone away\* and look for the big Conservatory sign on the south side of Broad Street between Nelson Road and Franklin Park West. You also should be able to use the map pin I've provided, below, and it should properly direct you to where you need to drive. \* Don't really do this. **After the event** After stopping to smell the roses, for those that are interested, we'll head to the nearby [Columbus Brewing Company Beer Hall](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/) for [drinks](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#draft-list) and [lunch](https://columbusbrewing.com/location/beer-hall/#food-menu). The Beer Hall's actual address is [200 Kelton Ave, Columbus, OH 43205](https://www.google.com/maps/place/200+Kelton+Ave,+Columbus,+OH+43205/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x883889a94ac4acad:0xadb2e60240dbc38b?sa=X&ved=1t:242&ictx=111) (it's literally just on the south side of the Conservatory). Be sure this is where your GPS is taking you when you use it, as the Brewing Company has a taproom on Harrison Avenue that is *not* what you want for this event. We should be at the Beer Hall by 1 if you can't make the Conservatory and just want to join us for drinks.

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
