The Plan We’ll meet at Jones Point Park in Alexandria, VA, then walk along the Alexandria waterfront, taking in the charming holiday scenery. From there, we’ll cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, which offers spectacular views of the Potomac River and the city skyline at night. Our destination: National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland - a winter wonderland glowing with Christmas lights, and holiday displays. At the Harbor Once we arrive, we’ll stroll through the decorated streets, check out the giant Christmas tree, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. You can grab a drink or snack from one of the many nearby restaurants and bars, or just relax and enjoy the show with the group. Come to the Silver Spring library to play games some chronically ill friends! Members are adults who suffer from conditions including POTS, ME/CFS, long covid, MCAS, rheumatoid arthritis, Ehlers Danlos, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, autoimmune kidney disease, and more. 
We'll have some board games available to play, and feel free to bring some of your own favorites. We'll also have coloring supplies on hand if you prefer to just relax or socialize.

Hike changed due to road closure! This is a secluded out and back hike in the Veach Gap area of the George Washington National Forest near Front Royal, VA. Most of the hike is a gradual ascent through Veach Gap, with a beautiful overlook at the high point. We'll meet at the Veach Gap Trailhead at 1000 AM. COORDINATES ARE 38.87611, -78.377781 The group will move at the usual pace (around 2.5 mph) and stop for a break at the top to enjoy the view. Expect the hike to take about 3.5 hours. Don't forget water and something to eat! Afterwards we’ll head to Vibrissa Brewing in Front Royal for a drink and something more to eat. They have a full menu of food. Let's start the weekend off by belting out some favorite tunes! Quincy's Potomac is bar and grille offering traditional pub fare, pizza, and a variety of drinks. Karaoke starts at 10:00, but we'll get there early to get acquainted and order food and "liquid courage" if needed. Singing, of course, is entirely optional. We will provide a handkerchief for the final project, but students are encouraged to bring their own light-weight cotton objects to use instead.
