Shut Up & Write!ÂŽ- Waterloo, Fridays *(venue change: BrewDog, The Sidings)
Shut Up & Write!ÂŽ- Waterloo, Fridays *(venue change: BrewDog, The Sidings)
Join us for a weekly session of friendly and focussed writing time. *New venue - BrewDog, at far North west end of Waterloo station (The Sidings), in their upstairs bar. There will be a sign at our table. From 6pm, every Friday. ...... * We shut up for 1 hour of scheduled writing time - 6.30 to 7.30. Then time to chat or carry on at your preference. This is for writing of any description or experience level. Somewhere to get on with your own work, and connect with new people. Most importantly to not feel isolated in your pursuits, however big or small. If you're looking to further your writing interests; for a comfortable social space; ...or just need somewhere to sit and focus before you go home on a Friday - you're welcome to stop by. Please RSVP to give us an idea of who is coming / how many. ........ **6:00pm - 6:30pm** * Find our table and grab a seat. Plus any food or drink. * We'll take 5-10 minutes to say who we all are, and welcome anyone new. * (No need to say what you're working on, but feel welcome to). **6.30pm - 7.30pm** * No talking. One hour. * You can leave the table at any point. * Anyone arriving late feel free to find a seat, we'll give you a silent wave. You won't get glared at! **7.30pm** Once 'Shut Up' time is over: * You are welcome to head off straight away, no pressure to stick around. * You are welcome to stay to chat with other members, as late as you wish. * Or you are welcome to just keep writing - if you're in the zone, no need to stop just because others have. The time is for you, to get the most benefit. . **FACILITIES / ACCESS** For step free access, there is an elevator from the ground floor of the BrewDog to the upper bar. There is an accessible toilet on same level. **FOOD** There is food served all evening / including vegan options. You're welcome to eat whilst writing. **WI-FI** There should be working Wi-Fi, if you need it! **DOG-FRIENDLY** Dogs also welcome. . If you have additional queries about access, or other requirements, just message us via Meetup or contact BrewDog directly. . **A note about the format** We don’t host readings and feedback. (But we can signpost to events that do). Whether you're writing for a professional goal, academic project, private thoughts and wellbeing, or purely casual enjoyment, (or still deciding!) - don't worry we won't be asking each other to share details. You can just arrive, make yourself comfortable with anything you need, and get on with whatever you decide. No-one will be reading your work or judging if you've met targets. We don't set group goals and deadlines: we're just here to help each other with our own - where needed. Or to switch off and talk about something else completely, if you need that instead! This is a social event and aimed at bringing new people together, not just a co-working space. **Respect** Please also note our Code of Conduct: [www.shutupwrite.com/code-of-conduct](https://www.shutupwrite.com/code-of-conduct) ...and be aware this is an informal event open to adults of all ages and backgrounds. We expect everyone who attends will treat each other with appropriate respect and awareness, and feel able to interact comfortably. Any concerns don't hesitate to raise them with us. The January Reset
The January Reset
New year, new goals and more often than not, new pressure. January is full of goals and resolutions, but it’s also where many people get stuck on what’s actually next. For many of us, this is where overwhelm kicks in - not because we lack motivation, but because we lack **clarity**. **The January Reset** is a free, community-based hackathon for **women** and **non-binary folx** designed to help you slow down your thinking, identify what’s really underneath the overwhelm and map a grounded, practical **60-day path forward**. Most January advice assumes you can think clearly on your own. The January Community Hackathon brings a small group together to work through this together collectively. You’ll be guided through a clear method for slowing down your thinking, identifying the real question your asking yourself for the change you want to make- helping you to clear the overwhelm. This session is built on the idea that clarity often emerges **in conversation**, not isolation. You’ll be in a space to learn from how others are approaching similar challenges and even leave with new friends and an ability to try a new way forward. **WHAT MAKES THIS A HACKATHON** This is not a coding competition. In this context, *hacking* means: * Breaking down complex questions * Working collaboratively in small groups * Testing ways of thinking rather than aiming for perfection You’ll be guided through a clear, structured method that helps you: * Identify the real question you’re asking yourself * Cut through the noise and pressure * Explore next steps that feel realistic and aligned **WHAT YOU’LL GAIN** By taking part, you will: * Learn a practical framework for working through uncertainty * Experience thinking things through *with others* instead of alone * Gain tools you can return to whenever you feel stuck again * Leave with a method for identifying clearer priorities, reflections and next steps For some, this may look like the beginnings of a plan. For others, it may be clarity about what needs more time. Both are valuable outcomes, the point is to help you come up with something to try. **WHO THIS IS FOR** This is for you if: * You feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure about your next step * You want clarity without hustle or performative goal-setting * You’re open to reflecting and working things through with others You’re welcome to come with a specific idea or question — or none at all. Each group will decide how they “hack” their time together. **ABOUT THE SERIES** The January Reset is part of **Disrupting the Matrix (DTM)** — a community series supporting women and nonbinary people on nonlinear journeys who are rewriting inherited rules around work, life and success.

Sunday Mafia Game & Social – Beginner Friendly – The Hydrant (Monument)
Sunday Mafia Game & Social – Beginner Friendly – The Hydrant (Monument)
**Welcome to UK Mafia!** 📍**Where?** **The Hydrant @ Monument** **\- Second Floor \- Function Room** *** **🕵️‍♂️ What is Mafia?** Play the game that 'Traitors' is based upon! Mafia is a 10-player social game, competitive, easy to learn, and played at multiple tables. Each player gets a secret role and works with their team to win. Games last about 45 minutes, so we play many during the day. The **Mafia team** tries to hide and eliminate the **Citizens**, while the **Citizens** try to find the Mafia through deduction and logic. We always have first-time players and explain everything. No experience needed. While this is a beginner-friendly game, we also host tournaments and online events with players from around the world. We even organise trips abroad to meet and play with other Mafia clubs ✈️ *** **[How to Play?](https://bit.ly/HowToPlayMafia)** We will teach you how to play when you arrive. You will quickly see that the game has two phases: 🌙 **Night:** * The Mafia secretly targets a Citizen * The *Don* (Mafia) learns if a player is the *Sheriff* * The *Sheriff* (Citizen) learns if someone is Mafia ☀️ **Day:** * Each player says in their turn who they think the Mafia are * Then, everyone votes publicly to eliminate one player The game continues until the Mafia are eliminated or they outnumber (or equal) the Citizens. We will explain all the rules at the venue, and you’ll pick it up. Want to learn more about the game? AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-development-risk-case-studies-and-how-agentic-ai-is-the-future-of-appsec-tickets-1981450622150?aff=oddtdtcreator AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application security—autonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development

CBusData - Ok I Want to Get Data into Fabric - Now What?
I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization. In this session we'll focus on answering one question - how can I get data into Fabric? We'll talk through the "it depends" options and see some of the options in live demos.
