Picture Framing Workshop with David Sawyer
No matter how great your painting is there are few occasions where it is not improved by a beautiful frame. High street framers will usually glue something together for you from off the shelf mouldings, good enough perhaps, but rarely outstanding. You may have seen that successful artists like [David Sawyer](https://www.instagram.com/djsawyerrba/) often use gessoed frames, which are painted up to suit the specific image.
As artists we have skills in abundance and time can be made available if we choose, so making our own frames is a no brainer.
David Sawyer, along with being one of Britain’s leading landscape painters, often frames his own work. As you would expect his frames are sensitive and beautiful. He is running a framing workshop which will get you going with the basics of producing hand made picture frames.
**What will you be learning?**
* Typical types of mouldings, what types of wood and profiles are available
* The use of slips, liners and fillets
* How to decide on your moulding
* Measuring the artwork
* Setting up and calibration of the Morso (guillotine)
* Cutting the moulding
* Getting to know the types of glues available
* Setting up the underpinner and joining
* Clamping and reinforcing the frame
We will provide one small frame to be gessoed and gilded, and each participant will also create a new frame of a bespoke size. Working with professional framing equipment, you’ll choose, measure, and cut your mouldings, then join and glue your frame to your own specifications. If you have any works on paper you’d like to frame instead, please drop us an email so we can bring the necessary equipment. Expect to pay a little more for materials, £15-£27 for an average frame. You don’t need to bring anything to this workshop other than a picture you’d like to frame and a notebook.
We plan to eat together, we’ll optionally provide an indulgent but healthy lunch with vegetarian options for our usual modest charge. **Students who have been inducted, or who already know how to use the machines safely, will be able to use the equipment in the afternoon.**
Please get in touch to receive a discount for purchasing a half-day pass.

If you have ever marveled at the fine detail or flowing lines of a wood carving, you may have wondered what it would be like to carve.
In this one-day workshop, expert wood carver Jon Hall brings his experience, City and Guilds training, and expertise to this day’s enjoyable teaching.
Even if you have never held a chisel before or can’t draw a design, Jon’s method of carving will build confidence and correct technique in an energetic and inspiring manner. By following the contours of a fresh leaf, you will learn the fundamentals of this skill.

MandaLove: a Mandala-Making Workshop

A heart-warming celebration of love, creativity and connection.
Join visual artist and teacher Elena in her atelier by the Thames for an afternoon of mindful making. Whether you're a seasoned creative or have never picked up a pencil for art, this workshop is designed to welcome you exactly as you are.
**What to expect**
You'll begin with a short introduction to the art of mandalas — their origins, forms and meanings — before moving into a guided meditation. This is a dedicated moment to open your heart, to recognise yourself as both a source of love and a receiver of it, and to tune into the themes of love and connection that run through the whole session before you start creating.
From there, you'll work on your own mandala using card paper with a lightly traced grid as your foundation. Using a blend of intuitive doodles and meaningful words — or whichever feels right to you — you'll create something entirely your own.
The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. Light conversation is welcome, though you're equally free to work quietly in your own world. Towards the close of the session, there will be an optional moment to share reflections with the group.
**You will leave with**
\- Your unique\, handmade mandala to keep
\- A fresh sense of calm and presence
\- A deeper connection to yourself — and perhaps to others
**What's included**
\- All materials are provided: paper\, pencils and markers\.
**Please Bring**
BYOB: Please note that no drinks or food will be provided. Please bring your own drink to enjoy as you create. The studio is conveniently located near The Orchard Café and Layers Bakery, should you wish to pick something up beforehand.
**The venue has step-free access.**
Trinity Buoy Wharf
The workshop takes place at Trinity Buoy Wharf — a historic 19th-century site on the Thames, once home to the craftspeople who kept Britain's coastal waters safe, now reborn as one of London's most vibrant creative communities, home to artists' studios, a sculpture park, and London's only lighthouse.
Arrive early or linger after — there is always something to discover. At weekends, you can visit the lighthouse, free of charge. Inside it, you can hear Longplayer, a thousand-year musical composition for singing bowls. Step inside, close your eyes, and let the resonance wash over you. An unexpected sound bath, and the perfect way to begin — or continue — the inner journey.
Visit the [Trinity Buoy Wharf](https://www.trinitybuoywharf.com/ "https://www.trinitybuoywharf.com/") website for more on opening times and events.

How to Get Over Losses and Betrayls & Build Lasting Relationships
Join us for this free, in person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Do you want more motivation and confidence to build lasting relationships?
Are you burdened by a stressful relationship?
Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival, while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
• How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes.
• Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
• Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
• Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
• Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
• What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others?
• How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
• Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
• How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
• How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!
This class is held at the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
