Community Dinner: Where strangers become friends
**We’re really excited about this one!**
Following the success of our first community dinner, Chris (from 100 Coffee Movement) and I are hosting a second. This is a simple, warm space to share a meal, have good conversations and meet new people.
We’ll also have a few light, fun activities to help you mingle naturally (nothing forced, don’t worry).
The cost for this event is **$5** per person, which will cover the food and venue fees. No profits are made here; everything goes straight into making the community event happen.

Footscray Park Heritage Walk : An Edwardian Paradise
Take a guided walking tour through this wonderful Edwardian park. Hear a unique story of community advocacy to save open space and create the park. Listen to stories of Curator Dave Mathews, the phantom call, events, the memorial garden and its personal history. Learn about its unique botanic flora.
You will be guided through a rare Edwardian Park created in 1911 through the efforts of the Local Community to save open space in the past and present. You hear the story of the Curator Dave Matthews to build the park, involvement of the Footscray scouts, students of Footscray Technical College (Victorian University) and unemployed 1930 depression workers. Hear the story of the Phantom call, the remarkable story of the Memorial Garden plaques and the victory statue, a sad personal story of loss, the visit of Charles and Dianna and the Henry Lawson society’s involvement.
You will walk its bluestone terraces, see statues, the platypus fountain and wisteria pergola. See its rare botanic plants. Enjoy its views over the Maribyrnong River, over open spaces and relax on its lawns and perhaps have a picnic.

Art in the Park: DIY Garden Mosaic Stepping Stone

In this fun hands-on workshop, let your creativity flow as you design and craft your own mosaic stepping stone, perfect for adding a personal touch to your outdoor space! You will use concrete, colorful tiles, and your imagination to create a unique piece of garden art. No experience needed! We will provide the concrete, molds, tiles, and some inspiration patterns. If you have any ceramic pieces, glass, or stones of your own that you would like to add to your mosaic, feel free to bring them, but we will also have plenty on hand.
Your mosaic stepping stone will need to set and dry, so we will create them on this day and you will pick yours up within the next week.
* Ages 16+.
