From Laptops to the Cloud
**❗️ Murdoch Students Only ❗️**
☁️ Ever wondered how the internet actually works — or what "the cloud" really means?
We are hosting a hands-on hybrid workshop where you'll start by trying to build a local network using nothing but the devices in the room, and then discover exactly why the tech industry relies on the Cloud to solve local hosting headaches.
No prior experience needed. Just bring your laptop. (Especially recommended for students doing ICT169 + ICT171!!)
**📅 Date:** Tuesday, June 9th, 2026
**🕚 Time:** 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
**📍 Venue:** Room 105 & Online (Hybrid Event)

**What you'll actually do:**
* Experience the hassle of manual peer-to-peer device connections and local hosting.
* Learn the core concepts of AWS EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) and Security Groups.
* Complete an official AWS Skill Builder lab alongside the team.
* Walk away with an official AWS Skill Builder Certificate of Completion!
* By the end of the session, you'll be able to:
* Understand how devices communicate over a network using IP addresses and ports.
* Explain the client-server model from hands-on experience.
* Articulate the real-world problems that cloud platforms like AWS EC2 solve.
* Launch, configure, and manage your very own Amazon EC2 instance.
**Workshop Agenda:**

SATURDAY BOARD GAMING @ South Market (Gate Avenue DIFC)

**Welcome again to a Saturday full of board games fun!**
This week we meet in South Market (Gate Avenue DIFC)
Our meetups are free to attend, RSVP on Meetup.com is mandatory.

**2\. Following the Group Regulations:** The organizers put in significant time, effort, and resources to organize meetups and maintain the group. Please respect their efforts by following the rules and guidelines they have set.
**3\. RSVP for Each Meetup:** RSVPing is crucial for effective event planning. It helps us communicate with the venue and ensure we have adequate space for all attendees. Failure to RSVP may result in denied entry if the venue is already at capacity.
**4\. Respect Other People's Property:** Be mindful and respect the belongings of others. Ask for permission before eating or drinking around someone else's game. Use caution when shuffling cards to avoid damaging them. Be careful not to drop components and handle them with care.
**5\. Gaming Related Topics:** In our communication channels, including WhatsApp groups and forums, keep discussions strictly related to gaming as a hobby, and events organized by this group. Avoid unrelated topics, or political discussions.
**6\. No Advertisements without Prior Approval:** Please seek approval from the group Admins before posting any advertisements for businesses, goods, services and events (including other gaming events). Admins will remove posts that were done without approval and may take action against repeat offenders.
In summary, we welcome all board game enthusiasts, regardless of your gaming preferences. We look forward to playing and having a great time together!

AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat.
But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review.
In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity.
We’ll cover:
* What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot
* How agents break tasks into steps
* Where agents are genuinely useful today
* Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review
* How to design simple AI workflows for your own work
* A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish
No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration!
This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired.
**New to electronics or curious about tinkering?**
You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building.
While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.
