Starting from 'Friends of Mine' cafe in Burnley, we walk along the Yarra Trail for a short 6.8km walk to Goldy's Tavern in Collingwood. This pub offers a traditional pub experience with loads of character and charm. Arriving at around 12pm, we'll grab a drink and perhaps something to eat while we catch up on your previous adventures and plan future ones. If you like a morning coffee, arrive earlier to grab a coffee ***before*** the meeting time. We meet at 10:30am for a 10:40am start. If you arrive late or you're waiting for your coffee order, you can catch up on the trail or meet at the destination. We leave on time to ensure we get to the venue as it opens at 12pm. If you're new to the group, come along and meet some of the regular hikers and suggest your favorite hiking locations for the coming months. The pace will be moderately brisk but not fast. We will not be stopping often to regroup. I will pause at the turns to help ensure no one misses them. **By attending, you agree to match the pace and stay in sight of the group or be comfortable navigating your own way to the destination.** With the variability of this kind of event I will book a best guess close to the event and we will find extra tables or seats on the day if needed. We arrive just as the venue opens. The 'Going' list is for the walk and booking to keep the group size manageable. Join me for a relaxed walk along the beautiful Bay Trail from Brighton Beach to Middle Brighton Baths and Pier. We can enjoy walking and chatting together as we follow the water's edge, with time to make new friends and share the beauty of our surroundings. When we reach the Dendy Street Beach we will take time to explore the 93 brightly decorated bathing boxes that make up a fun collective work of art. This is an ideal opportunity for photography. There are gorgeous views out across Port Phillip Bay and the distant city skyline. From there we'll walk on to the historic Middle Brighton Baths, a reminder of Melbourne’s Victorian-era sea-bathing culture and then out along the Middle Brighton Pier, a popular destination for fishing and enjoying views of the bay. **Agenda** We will meet at the War Memorial in the Brighton Beach Gardens Green Point at 2pm. There is a photo and a map in the gallery. We'll set off at 2.15pm and walk through the gardens to the end of Green Point. From there we'll walk down to the shoreline and stroll up to the Dendy Street Beach where we can explore the iconic coloured bathing boxes. Then we'll join the Bay Trail path and walk up to the historic Brighton Baths and out along the Middle Brighton Pier. On the way back we'll stop in at the Beach House Cafe on Brighton Beach to pick up a coffee and a snack or you may like to bring your own drinks and something to eat. There will be time to enjoy conversations together and have a paddle in the water. This is an easy to moderate walk along the path and on the sand in some sections. The walking distance is about 6km all up and we'll take around 2 hours. We'll arrive back at Brighton Beach Gardens by 5pm. **Location** Brighton Beach War Memorial in Brighton Beach Gardens, Beach Road, Brighton near the corner of Beach Road and South Road. It is approximately 11km SouthEast of Melbourne's city centre. The Brighton Beach Train Station is on the Sandringham line and the travel time from the city is 25 minutes. An afternoon at Urban Climb, Blackburn! If you haven't been to this gym before, you will need to do an induction. This gym also has a bouldering area. We typically start with a warm-up session from 2:00 to 2:30 PM before moving on to top-rope or lead climbing - through you’re welcome to start top-rope or lead as you prefer. If you’re looking for the host, they will be in bouldering area during the warmup. You can also spot the host on climbing wall, easily recognizable by a dangling ducks hanging from their harness.

For this event, we’ll help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents, wash dishes and clean surfaces at Fath Mission – Grant Kitchen. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
