We are delighted to welcome you to the second year of the **Mama Cacao Showcase**, a series of intimate gatherings where music, cacao, movement, and community come together in the heart of nature. These evenings are created as a space to celebrate presence, creativity, and connection. Under the open sky and surrounded by the quiet beauty of the forest, we gather to share ceremonial cacao and experience a carefully curated musical journey. Each edition of the Showcase features a **special guest artist**, making every gathering unique. Together with Jkson, our guest will guide us through a night of sound, rhythm, and movement—an invitation to open the heart, awaken the body, and celebrate the joy of being alive. This is more than a performance; it is a shared experience where music becomes a bridge between inner reflection and collective celebration. ## The Journey **Cacao Ceremony** We begin by opening the circle with the sacred medicine of Mama Cacao, brought from the lands of Peru. This ancient plant has been used for centuries to support connection, presence, and heartfelt communication. **Music & Ecstatic Dance Journey** Together with a special guest artist, Jkson will guide the musical journey of the evening. This part of the gathering invites free movement and authentic expression. **Step away from the pace of everyday life and spend a day immersed in the quiet rhythm of batik.** Batik is a traditional wax-resist textile art where patterns emerge slowly through the interaction of hot wax and dye. The process invites patience, attention, and a different sense of time — one where the act of making becomes as important as the final piece. In this studio workshop we will explore the traditional batik tulis process using canting (the wax drawing tool) and dye. The day unfolds gradually: observing how wax flows, how colour layers develop, and how patterns begin to reveal themselves on cloth. Working with batik often becomes a quiet conversation between intention and discovery — balancing moments of control with moments of letting go as the wax and dye take their course. Many participants find that the process creates a natural space for focus, reflection, and an inner dialogue that unfolds through making. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! Whether you’re new to the hobby or a seasoned painter, this event invites you to raise something from the dead and make it your own. Learn techniques for painting bone, decay, ghostly effects, and weathered armor while diving into the lore and battlefield role of undead factions.
