Struggling with study or learning? You’re not alone.
**Struggling with study or learning? You’re not alone.**
This meetup suits people at all levels of study skill.
Too many children, teenagers, and adults find studying difficult—not because they lack ability, but because they were never taught **how to learn**.

You’ll discover simple, effective methods to improve understanding, confidence, and performance—whether at school, work, or online. Teachers and parents often see rapid improvements in both behaviour and results.
Yes, it *is* possible to improve study performance—in just **five easy steps**.
If you can’t attend in person, online options are available.
**Join us and learn how to study effectively—once and for all.**
See you at the meetup,

When learning clicks, confidence follows.
Meet for a walk at Brighton Baths 10am
Meet outside Brighton Baths for a 1 hour return walk towards Elwood. Then relax with a coffee and chat at the Brighton Yacht Club. Jane is away - please make welcome anyone new to our walk
Parking is free if you have a Bayside beach parking sticker. Otherwise try your luck for 2hr free parking in Chelsea or Grosvenor streets.
Free Solo Film Screening at ACMI
Join me for a screening of *Free Solo* at ACMI — the Oscar-winning documentary following climber Alex Honnold as he attempts to scale the 900-metre face of El Capitan in Yosemite, with no rope and no safety gear. It's gripping, beautiful, and genuinely nerve-wracking on a big cinema screen.
We'll meet outside the 7-Eleven at 5:30pm, say hello, then head over to ACMI Cinemas together in time for the 6:00pm start. The film runs about 1 hour 40 minutes, so we'll be out around 7:45pm.
This is a casual social meetup so we can head along together — it isn't run by or affiliated with ACMI. The screening is free, but please book your own ticket directly with ACMI using the link below. An RSVP here doesn't include entry, so make sure you've got your own ticket sorted.
A few of us may grab dinner nearby afterwards for anyone who'd like to keep the evening going. Coming solo? You're very welcome — these are easy, friendly nights and plenty of people come on their own.

**Timeline**
* 5:30pm – Meet outside the 7-Eleven and say hello
* 5:45pm – Head over to ACMI Cinemas together
* 6:00pm – Movie starts
* \~7:45pm – Movie ends (around 1h 40m) and the meetup wraps up
* Afterwards – Optional dinner nearby for anyone keen
**Tickets / cost**
The screening is free, but you must book your own ticket directly with ACMI via the link above. Free sessions can fill up, so it's worth booking ahead.
**Bring**
* Your booked ACMI ticket (on your phone is fine)
* A jacket — it's a winter evening in the city
* Some cash or card if you'd like to join dinner afterwards
**Expect**
* Vibe: relaxed and friendly
* Group style: easy social night, no pressure
* Difficulty: none — just sit back and watch
**Important notes**
This is an independent social meetup arranged so we can attend together; it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or organised by ACMI. Please book your own free ticket with them directly — a Meetup RSVP is not a ticket and doesn't guarantee entry. If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear for the rest of the group.
Indoor Rock Climbing (Urban Climb Blackburn ) - First-time to Advanced
**Urban Climb Blackburn**
Never climbed before? No worries at all! You're very welcome here! Just complete a quick safety induction when you arrive and the staff will walk you through everything you need to know to climb safely indoors. It's easy, friendly, and won't take long.
The venue has plenty to enjoy, including a bouldering cave, speed wall, sauna facilities, and sparkling water to keep you going.
This group is primarily focused on rope climbing, top roping and lead climbing, but if you'd prefer to stick to bouldering while you find your feet, that's absolutely fine too! Many of our members have their lead pass and gear, but there's no pressure at all.
**Finding us:** If you arrive on time, look for us gathered around the couches in the bouldering area. We're a friendly bunch, so just come and say hi! Running a little late? No stress, just let the staff up the front know you're with the Climb Meetup group and they'll make an announcement. Someone will come and find you and introduce you around. A few of our regulars also wear a black shirt with the old logo, so keep an eye out for those.
**A note on numbers:** The meetup runs every Monday and many regular members come along independently without RSVPing through the group, so the crowd is often bigger than it looks on the attendee list! If you're ever unsure whether people will be there or worried it might be a tiny group, feel free to drop the organisers a message beforehand and we'll put your mind at ease.
**Fees:** Entry is paid directly to Urban Climb. You can find current pricing at [urbanclimb.com.au/pricing](https://urbanclimb.com.au/pricing/). If you hold a climbing membership elsewhere, it's worth checking your member benefits as you may be eligible for a discount. For venue info and the first-time waiver, visit [urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn](https://urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn/).
**Stay connected:** We also have a facebook group [https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808](https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808) with a chat function; a great way to connect with members before or after a session!

Sunday Bus: Gembrook to Emerald - 14.5km and 16km - 12 July
**WALK DESCRIPTION:**
Come join 25+ of our members on these walks, which take us through the famous Dandenong Ranges with its forested slopes, charming villages, and well-known wildlife like lyrebirds and wallabies.
We will be following the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail with both groups starting in Gembrook at the old train station, which is the final stop on the Puffing Billy train ride. The first section of the walk to Cockatoo passes mainly through open farmland where vegetable growing dominates, as we closely follow the train line. There are great views of the surrounding countryside.
After leaving Cockatoo we enter Wright Forest Bushland Reserve, where you will see blackened trees as a result of the 2009 Black Saturday fires. After Wright Forest, we proceed along a gully with farmland on one side and tree ferns on the other till we reach Emerald Lake Park.
At Emerald Lake the Easy/Medium group will wander around the edge of the picturesque lake before arriving at Emerald whereas the Easy group will follow a more direct route to the Emerald township.
Please carry at least 2 litres of water and bring a change of shoes for the trip back.

.
**DO YOU HAVE COMPREHENSIVE AMBULANCE COVER?** The Club strongly recommends that all participants have comprehensive personal ambulance cover.
