En la part més sud-oest alberga l’antiga zona jueva de la ciutat i un dels miradors més típics de Porto, el *miradouro dona Vitória*. La zona nord és la llar d’alguns dels *monuments, edificis i esglésies* més importants de la ciutat, com la *torre dos Clérigos* (i la seva església), la *igreja do Carmo*, la l*libreria Lello* (una de les nostres localitzacions favorites i que visitarem), *el Jardim do Cordoaria, o el Centre Portuguès de Fotografia*, que fins que va caure la dictadura de Salazar era una presó i en l’actualitat alberga exposicions temporals de fotografia. **Visitarem la Catedral i la llibreria Lello**. Considerada com **una de les llibreries més belles del món**, la Llibreria Lello és un lloc màgic que sembla tret d’un conte de fades. Amb la seva espectacular escala de fusta tallada, els seus vitralls i prestatgeries repletes de llibres, aquest lloc ha enamorat a visitants de tot el món. **Es diu que va ser una font d’inspiració per a J.K. No era el típico escultor de academia desde joven. De hecho, heredó el oficio de su padre: **era afinador de pianos**. Esta sensibilidad por la armonía y el sonido la trasladó más tarde a las formas. A los 50 años (en 1980), dio un giro radical a su vida: cerró su negocio y entró a estudiar Bellas Artes. Se instaló en su finca, llamada **"Casa Viva"**, en Dosrius, y durante más de 30 años se dedicó a "escuchar" al bosque. Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
