Freelancers/Entrepreneurs/Self-Employed Networking Night
Do you run your own business or work for yourself and wish that you had a community of like-minded women who share the same experiences as you? If so, join us for a freelancers/entrepreneurs/self-employed networking night where we can share our stories over some Mexican food.
Entrepreneurship and self-employment can be a lonely journey. We go through unique things and experiences, and our ups and downs can feel a lot more intense. But there's no reason why we need to go through this experience alone, when we have a community of women who have experienced what you have, and might even be able to point you in the right direction.
It doesn't matter if you're a startup founder, a self-employed designer, or a part-time freelance consultant; anyone and everyone who runs a business is welcome.
June Book of the month - Three Reasons for Revenge
Book Club: Three Reasons for Revenge by Dervla McTiernan
It is a high-stakes standalone crime thriller focusing on a dangerous game involving three targeted victims, featuring Detective Sergeant Judith Lee as she investigates a series of tailored, malicious packages.
The story begins when Alexis Turner reports an assault and then disappears. Shortly after, three identical packages arrive at different homes, containing items that will destroy the recipients' lives.
The thriller tackles themes of modern, intimate danger and revenge. This follows her highly successful 2024 thriller, *What Happened to Nina?*
Discussion Points:
* **The Ethics of Revenge:** Does the novel suggest that vigilante justice is sometimes necessary when the legal system fails? Discuss the motivations of the "antagonist" versus the moral failings of the three victims.
* **Cycles of Trauma:** How does the childhood trauma of sisters **Renee** and **Margaux** mirror the past of **Judith Lee**? Discuss how their shared history of being "damaged" by others influences their present-day actions.
* **Manipulation and Control:** The novel is described as a "deadly game". Talk about how the perpetrator uses intimate knowledge to hurt victims where they are most vulnerable and how they force Judith into playing along.
* **Modern Dangers:** How do themes like **deepfakes**, **online manipulation**, and the rapid spread of misinformation heightening the stakes for the characters?

Melbourne Biz Apps User Group | Launch Event
**Join us at the Melbourne Biz Apps User Group: Launch Event!** 🎉
We've been working hard behind the scenes, and the day is finally here. Come celebrate the launch of Melbourne's newest Biz Apps community with us.
**🎤 Featured Session: Vendor Onboarding Agent with Copilot Studio**
*Presented by Dharanidharan - Microsoft MVP, Engineering Lead*
Vendor onboarding is one of those processes that quietly eats hours — manual document checks, back-and-forth approvals, risk assessments done in spreadsheets. There's a better way.
Dharanidharan will walk us through how to build an enterprise-grade AI agent that handles vendor onboarding end-to-end, from document upload through to automated risk assessment and manager and compliance approvals. Everything tracked. Everything auditable.
**Built using:**
* Copilot Studio for conversational onboarding
* AI Builder for automated document extraction
* Power Automate for risk scoring and approvals
* Dataverse and model-driven apps for full auditability
This is a reusable pattern for anyone working with document-heavy, compliance-driven processes. Real architecture. Real implementation.
**⚡ AI Bytes**
Before we dive in, we've got some fun community activities lined up to get you inspired, warmed up, and ready to geek out. Come ready to participate!
**🍕 Food, Drinks and Networking**
Good food, good drinks, and good people, and we'll have plenty of time on the night to mingle, connect, and meet your fellow Biz Apps practitioners in Melbourne.
**This event is for you if you:**
* Work in Power Platform, Dynamics 365, or Copilot Studio
* Want to see how AI agents are being built in the real world
* Are curious about intelligent automation at enterprise scale
* Just want to meet other Biz Apps practitioners in Melbourne
We can't wait to see you there! 🙌

Claude Code with Unity
A session on using Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent, in real Unity development. We'll cover what coding agents are, where Claude Code fits, and how to apply it to an actual game project.
The format is presentation-style, with live demos and time for questions throughout. After brief scene-setting on coding agents and what makes Claude Code distinct, we'll go problem-driven: demoing it live on a released Unity game and introducing each feature as a solution to a problem we hit.
What to Expect:
* An intro to coding agents and where Claude Code fits
* A live demo on a real Unity project
* Key features as solutions to real problems: 𝖢𝖫𝖠𝖴𝖣𝖤.𝗆𝖽, context management, hooks, skills, subagents, and MCP
* Unity-specific pain points, including Domain Reload and MCP caveats
* Putting it together
All experience levels welcome. Food and drinks provided.
*Note: meetup topics may change — check back for the latest details.*
