Greetings Bird Lovers, Why do we keep returning to Long Point? The answer is simple. At this time of year, there is no place in Southern Ontario quite like it for the sheer number and variety of birds we can see. Our last few trips to Long Point have been exceptional, and every visit seems to deliver something exciting. On our last two outings, we have saw several Bald Eagles, seen thousands of Sandhill Cranes, and enjoyed literally thousands of ducks. At times, it feels like stepping right into a National Geographic special. The birding can be that good. As spring begins to build, the longer days and milder temperatures make this one of the most enjoyable times to be outside. The first migrants are returning, Red-winged Blackbirds are beginning to sing, and the whole landscape starts to feel alive again. For me, spring is the most exciting season of all, and Long Point is one of those places that never disappoints. Long Point is one of Ontario’s most celebrated birding destinations and is recognized internationally as an Important Bird Area. Birds are present here year-round, but spring is when things really begin to come alive. We will be watching for a wide variety of waterfowl, Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, and whatever other surprises the day may bring. We'll also be making a stop at Turkey Point for a chance to see rare Little Gulls and Bonaparte Gulls. We are also stopping at Ruthven Park, where we have a chance to see Tufted Titmouse and Eastern Bluebird. As always, I will keep an eye on local bird news, and if something unusual has turned up, we may adjust our route to give ourselves the best chance of seeing it. That is part of the fun at this time of year. You never know what might show up. Whether you are a seasoned birder, a newer birder, or a photographer who simply loves being out in nature, this trip is for you. Long Point is a wonderful place to enjoy birds, scenery, and the excitement of spring migration. Binoculars are recommended, and a camera is always a great idea. One of the things that makes these outings so enjoyable is the friendly atmosphere. We always have a fun group, plenty of laughs, and a shared excitement for whatever the day brings. It should be a fantastic day out, and I would love to have you join us. We will meet at the Finch Station Passenger Pick-Up and Drop-Off area at 7:45 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:00 a.m. We expect to return at approximately 5:30 p.m. after exploring several excellent birding areas southwest of Toronto. There is space for up to 3 bird lovers in my vehicle. The cost is $99 plus tax, for a total of $112. This group is for badminton enthusiasts who are passionate about exploring the connections between metabolism, energy, and exercise. We are welcome beginner plus, intermediate and advance level players looking to improve your skill or a seasoned player seeking to optimize your performance on the court, this group is for you! Join us for friendly games. This badminton session is a weekly event and it is followed with dinner together but it is optional. Since we have 3 courts and allowed the maximum of 24 players so that everyone signs up for this event will be placed on waiting list FIRST then will be moved to the joining list on WEDNESDAY MORNING. **The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception** Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory. For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions.
