The Vandoos is a group of like-minded and unlike-minded Canadians who get together on the 22nd of each month (or near about) at a selected London pub to meet new people and catch up with old friends. Guests and "honourary" Canadians are always welcome. The London Vandoos was originally formed as a Yahoo group and is the social arm of Network Canada.
Past Network Canada President Dave Mathews organizes the monthly Vandoos Meetups. The evenings are very similar to the Monthly Monday night wings event... without the wings!

The next Street Hypnosis Group meetup will be Saturday 28th February
We meet at The Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre. We'll be on the 5th floor, in the 'seventy5th bar' (Blue zone). If you haven't been before or you need help finding us call this number 07742 542101.
Call that number when you arrive at the information desk on the ground floor, just in case we've moved to a different area of the building or outside.
Learn something, share something. Practice in safety and gain confidence. We cover all aspects of street, stage and party hypnosis. Have an idea of the suggestibility tests or something else you want to practice, as well as some Rapid Inductions. Also, think of a short 5 -10 minute 'routine' to use with people. All levels are welcome so don't be shy. We ask for a small fee of ยฃ5 on the day, this is purely to help pay our meetup fees.
We could go for a coffee or beer afterwards, and get some practice in public situations. It's all good for confidence building.
Our 'sister' group is the London Hypnosis Hub. That group is aimed more at general hypnosis and meets on the first Tuesday of every month. The Chelsea Nostalgia walk, 4 miles
This walk is not suitable for Gunners, Spurs or Hammers supporters.

* We will start with Ebury Street, which has a long history and it's even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Past residents of note include Ian Fleming, Lord Tennyson and Mozart.
* En route we will see the Peggy Porschen shop (pictured), a bespoke cake company. Further down the road we will see where Mozart lived when he composed his first symphony, aged only 9.
* We will then arrive at the Orange Square to see a succession of wonderful antique and interior design shops.
* We will then pass by the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of Chelsea Pensioners, founded by King Charles II . Members can always return to see their museum (free entry, recommended visit time 45 mins). For pub quiz-goers, Royal Hospital Chelsea is also the place where Margaret Thatcher was buried.
* Right next door is the National Army Museum (free entry, recommended visit time 2 hours). A further down en route are situated the Chelsea Physic Gardens (ticketed entry, recommended visit time 45 mins).
* We will then proceed via Cheney Walk (past residents of note include George Eliot, Mick Jagger and Keith Richard) and Kings Road to arrive at the Duke of York Square. This is where the famous Saatchy Gallery is located (free entry, recommended visit time 1 hour).
* We will then proceed via two of the most prestigious addresses in London, the Sloane Square and the Eton Square, to return back to Victoria station. This is where the walk ends. Optional drinks/ lunch at the end of the walk.

* The walk is free for members who have subscribed for an annual membership. For other members the fee is ยฃ5 cash/card on arrival to contribute towards the organiser's meetup fees and costs.
* The annual pass option is ยฃ15 payable by cash/card on the day. This will provide access to at least 40 walks per year (members are welcome to bring a guest to each event).
* All walks are free for the NHS staff (also welcome to bring a guest).

Welcome to Gaslighting Recognition & Recovery Group.
**This is a peer-to-peer support group dedicated to recovery from emotional abuse.** **\*\*FOR ESTABLISHED MEMBERS \*\***
Imagine this scenario: Suppose your partner, parent or friend made a little joke at your expense, and it hurt your feelings. Perhaps you thought to yourself โIโll let it slide because they probably didnโt mean it. Or maybe I just misunderstood. Itโs just not worth the consequence of having this argument.โ But as days and weeks pass, the buried emotions resurface, demanding to be dealt with. So you decide to express your feelings to this person, only to hear this response:
*"Wow, you're so sensitive that I can't even joke with you anymore. I didn't mean it like that, but of course you need to make me look like a jerk. Why are you bringing this up NOW? I've moved on, but I guess you just can't let go of the past. I don't understand why you get offended so easily. You said you loved my sense of humor, but I guess my jokes just arenโt funny anymore. I mean, I could sensor myself for you, but how sad it is to be silenced and forbidden from being myself? You must not love me for who I am. You have sloppy habits and mental health issues, but I love you anyway. So why can't you just accept me for who I am? Maybe I should just go away. If you want me to go away, just tell me, and I will. Free yourself and finally be rid of me.โ*
This is a DARVO, and it's also gaslighting. It is word salad nonsense designed to leave you feeling confused, tongue tied and self-blaming. Although subtle and difficult to detect, gaslighting can present this way. Perpetrators are skilled in evading detection, and nearly impossible to identify without external support.
Gaslighting isnโt โjust a pop psychology term.โ Itโs a very real form of emotional manipulation that often flies under the radar because weโve been conditioned to see it as normal. This is especially true if we grew up amidst toxic family dynamics. Weโve learned to doubt ourselves before questioning someone elseโs behavior. We say, *โMaybe Iโm just too sensitive.โ* Or *โMaybe Iโm overreacting.โ* And thatโs exactly how gaslighting works โ it teaches us to question our intuition, doubt our own emotions, silence and shrink ourselves, making us more digestible for the other person.
But no โ you are not โtoo sensitive.โ You are not โbeing defensive" or "unable to handle constructive criticism.โ You are having a normal human response to emotional abuse. Gaslighting thrives in the disguise of normalcy, often framed as โcare and concernโ or โjust trying to helpโ. And the first step in dismantling it is naming it for what it is: emotionally abusive. Itโs not your fault, not imagined, and definitely not normal.
This group is a safe space dedicated to supporting one another as we confront the faulty, gaslit self-concepts imposed upon us by others. Together, we can practice self-compassion, reclaim our voices and empower ourselves. This group offers support for every stage of recovery.
This group runs 6PM EST- 7:30PM EST (5PM-6:30PM CST, 3PM-4:30PM PST AND 11PM-12:30AM BST) **every other Saturday**
I did schedule this group with the assumption that those attending are well-versed in gaslighting but would still like to provide a brief definition for anyone who may be uncertain;
*Gaslighting is an intentional, subtle, psychological manipulation tactic where the perpetrator plants seeds of doubt in the victim's mind. This leads the victim to question their perceptions, memories, feelings, abilities, and even their mental health. The perpetrator is often a person with high narcissistic **and*** *sociopathic traits. Itโs designed to evade detection and is therefore one of the most insidious tools in the pathological narcissist's arsenal.*

We never point out any individuals but instead motivate the whole group to push further.

Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few.
How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it.
