Consapevolezza senza scelta: Krishnamurti nell’era dell’indecisione (IT/EN)
Consapevolezza senza scelta: Krishnamurti nell’era dell’indecisione (IT/EN)
**English** **We live surrounded by choices**: what to do, who to be, what stance to take on almost everything. And yet, **the more options we have, the more often we get stuck in indecision**, in rumination, in overthinking. In this scenario\*\*, Jiddu Krishnamurti’s proposal sounds almost shocking: a *choiceless awareness*\*\*, the capacity to see what is, before any decision, technique, or method. In this meeting we will use **Krishnamurti’s thought as a guiding thread** to explore together what it might mean, today, **to “see what is” without judging, without selecting, without trying to fix everything right away**. We will start from some of his key passages on awareness, the observer and the observed, and the ending of inner conflict, listening to or reading them together and leaving room for dialogue. Alongside Krishnamurti’s voice, we will also bring in **other perspectives on awareness**: from mindfulness to contemporary psychology, from emotional and bodily awareness to a more existential search for meaning. This will help us distinguish between awareness as a “technique” and awareness as a way of seeing and living. **The meeting will alternate:** * a brief introduction to clarify what is meant by “choiceless awareness” * listening to/reading selected passages * some simple guided exercises of observation (of the body, thoughts, emotions) * moments of sharing and open dialogue, where everyone can bring their own experience with indecision, control, and the need to make the “right” choice **Some questions** that will guide our dialogue: * What do we each mean when we say “we are aware”? * In which moments of life do we notice we are stuck in indecision or rumination? * What is, in our experience, the difference between “controlling” and “observing”? * What could it concretely mean to take a step toward “choiceless awareness” in everyday life? You don’t need to know Krishnamurti already, nor have any experience with meditation: all that’s needed is curiosity and a willingness to look a little more closely at the way we usually observe, judge, and choose. No previous experience required. Just bring your presence and your willingness to observe without judging and without ulterior motives. **Free entry — limited seats**. Please confirm your participation through Meetup. See you at Otto on the 18th June 2026 at 18:30; buying a drink or snack at the venue is not mandatory but recommended, as the place is kindly hosting our event.

Take Control Of Your Life, Freedom From Negative Thoughts & Irrational Emotions
Take Control Of Your Life, Freedom From Negative Thoughts & Irrational Emotions
Feeling down? Sometimes depressed? Can't focus? Negativity & stress? Recent losses? Creativity in career and personal life hindered by mental blocks? Sometimes we never fully recover from traumatic experiences. Whether it was yesterday, last week or a year ago, traumatic experiences - a loss of a loved one, losing a job, a breakup - can leave you scarred. You talk about it and feel a little better, but it never goes away. After you hang up the phone, it's still there; the sadness, the cloud, the over-thinking, the worry, the guilt. You try to focus, but you're blocked. You try to look forward into new experiences, new relationships but a cloud is hanging over you, casting a shadow on what you once considered a bright, cheerful future. What happened to your courage? Your strength of character? You're 'why not' attitude? Whoever said 'time heals' must have had a special time machine, because after weeks, months, years, you're wondering - when exactly does that kick in? Sometimes it seems like drinking or drugs are the way to go. But they wear off, and now the problem is still there with added side effects from the drugs. At this free local Meetup event we will talk about: * What causes grief, anxiety and depression to become chronic. * Is it possible to regain your joy and happiness even after traumatic experiences? * How to break away from negativity and focus on the future * What are the steps to take to get control of your mind and your emotions? Learn about a safe, gentle, do-it-yourself counseling that can be done in the comfort of your own home. Let's explore safe, effective solutions for healing from traumatic experiences. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to the event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center.

Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
