WHAT we play. As you know, we have two events, one more for social games on Thursday and another for **strategic games** on **Monday**. Depending on what people bring, we may play brainy games, not limited to chess and classic games. So, feel free to bring other ones. And this is only indicative. Some games like Decrypto fit both events, **and if people feel like playing a social game on Monday or a more strategic one on Thursday, they are free to do so.** WHERE. Because we have many strategic players on Monday and these games take longer, we moved to a café closing much later than the previous one. CHATBOX USE. In the event chatbox, you are invited to discuss the games you bring and want to play for this session. The idea is to gather people around game tables beforehand. Of course, it's also possible to show up and arrange this after the introduction round, which starts at 7h15. HOST. If you want to become a host and have your board game event for a specific game with a small group of people or in another place, Great! INFLUENCAIR - INFLUENCAIR - INFLUENCAIR Afhankelijk van de interesse vergaderen vandaag over: 1. De opgewaardeerde luchtkwaliteit display (fijnstof), nu met web-interface, met opvolging voor 32 locaties met elk 4 sensoren, met interface naar project Telraam (verkeerstellingen). Dit is eigen ontwikkeling van InfluencAir, en suggesties voor aanpassingen & verbeteringen zijn mogelijk. De source van de software is public domain (GNU GPL V3) en is gepubliceerd op Github (displayPM_32x4) 2. Er kunnen in deze sessie stand-alone displays van 53cm lang worden gebouwd. Het materiaal daarvoor wordt ter beschikking gesteld voor een bijdrage van 40 euro per display. 3. Een doorontwikkeling van deze display resulteerde recent in een kleine LCD display voor gebruik thuis, met dezelfde mogelijkheden. Deze LCD display zal ook kunnen worden gebouwd, en het materiaal daarvoor wordt ter beschikking gesteld voor een bijdrage van 20 euro per display. 4. Natuurlijk kan je ook een (gebouwde & geteste) fijnstofmeter met SDS011 en BME280 meenemen uit deze sessie. De prijs hiervoor is 45 euro. 5. Dit is ook een voorbereidende vergadering over de DNMS: de achtergrond geluidsmeter van het Sensor.Community project. Indien hier interesse voor is, kan dit in groep worden gestart. Welcome to our weekly event in the upstairs room of The Sister Café, rue Chair et Pain 3, one block from the Grand Place. Please get there early enough to order your drink at the bar first. Thank you! After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations. Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy: What is a genuine friend? Is social media turning us into emotional zombies? Do we lose some of the experience of things by defining them? Are we driven by sex? Is loneliness a personal failure? Is morality relative? **Crucially, be kind and respectful and generous** in your disagreements; remember how much you personally enjoy someone else proving you wrong before celebrating your cutting counterexamples.

For centuries, the figure of the pirate has occupied a strange place in our imagination, both villain and folk hero, outlaw and symbol of freedom. From the swashbuckling adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow to the real-world exploits of Blackbeard, piracy has often been romanticized as a life unshackled from authority, where individuals carve their own destiny beyond the reach of states and laws. Beneath the mythology, however, lies a deeper philosophical question: what does it mean to live freely, and at what cost does that freedom come? Yet piracy is far from a relic of the past. In today’s world, the term stretches far beyond the high seas, reaching into the digital realm, where so-called “internet pirates” challenge the boundaries of ownership, access, and intellectual property. From peer-to-peer file sharing to the rise and fall of platforms like The Pirate Bay, the debate has evolved into a question of whether information should be free or protected. At the same time, accusations of “piracy” still surface in geopolitical conflicts, where the line between enforcement and overreach becomes increasingly blurred. Recent actions involving the seizure of vessels, particularly by powerful states like the United States, have reignited debates about legality, sovereignty, and moral authority on the high seas. When does the defense of order begin to resemble the very lawlessness it seeks to prevent? And who, ultimately, gets to define what piracy really is? We are living in an age of ever increasing intelligence and power. Individual humans haven’t really become any smarter or more powerful, but together we’ve developed systems that increase the control we exert over our environment. If we look at a country like China for example, the last 50 years have seen an undeniable and unprecedented increase in living standards, which correlates with [an increase in happiness and life satisfaction](https://ourworldindata.org/happiness-and-life-satisfaction). Another way to look at this is that we’re constantly finding ways to overcome the limitations imposed on us by life/existence/the universe. Hungry? Just go to the supermarket! Had a bad fall? Here is surgery and some painkillers! Cold? Open your tap and warm water flows out like magic! What if we follow this process to its conclusion? What does a world without struggle, problems or limitations look like? What would the absence of limitations do to our behavior, our values and our ethics? Would we still be human or does something get lost along the way? Is our current intelligence explosion missing a balancing wisdom explosion? We’ll be approaching these topics by thinking creatively about the following concrete questions among others: \- If we had a vaccine against lung cancer\, why shouldn’t we smoke? \- If we could suck all of the CO2 out of the air\, why shouldn’t we continue using fossil fuels? \- If antidepressants had no side effects\, why shouldn’t we all take them to deal with grief? \- If we could breed animals \(human or nonhuman\) without pain receptors\, why shouldn’t we eat them? \- If all human activity could be automated\, why shouldn’t we become “WALL\-E people”?
