There are plenty of board games to try there, but come along on Wednesday evenings to learn and play the great board game Go!
All levels welcome, as players will always find someone happy to teach new players or provide a challenge to experienced players!

TouchDesigner Meetup Dublin @ TOG HACKERSPACE
We are hosting an open **TouchDesigner** meetup with demos, hands-on learning, and space to share work with others using the software. This is part of a series of monthly events in collaboration with **[@noid_lab](https://www.instagram.com/noid_lab/)** typically on the last Wednesday each month in the space, so this month it's 29th April, 7-10pm.
**Tickets are free** \- but registration is required to secure your place\. [Click here to register](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/touchdesigner-meetup-dublin-tickets-1987679859968)
**Workshops:**
In this session we will be hosting two workshops. The first will be run by [Pauric Freeman](https://pauricfreeman.com/), the class will offer a deep dive into instancing in TouchDesigner, breaking down the core principles behind this technique and demonstrating how it can be used to create complex visuals. The session will also explore the integration of MediaPipe, showing how real-time gesture tracking can be used to control instanced systems.
Following this, Cailean will be working with ..nodes! but not in the traditional TouchDesigner sense. This small workshop will explore how the behaviour of nodes can be controlled through the Network Editor using Python scripts.
**Format:**
The session will run for around three hours in a relaxed, hands-on setting. With multiple rooms available at TOG Hackerspace, we can host beginner and advanced activities simultaneously, ensuring everyone gets the most out of the evening. The event will focus on learning, with a combination of scheduled short and long presentations/demonstrations.
The last hour will take a more flattened and open approach, allowing the space for people to chat, share, learn, and explore TouchDesigner. Expect an informal, community-driven environment where the format adapts to participants. So if you would like to bring your laptop and learn the basics, share your projects, or connect with other using the software, this meetup offers a welcoming and supportive space to do so.
The event is also a great opportunity to meet other creative technologists and artists, and to continue building the growing TouchDesigner community in Ireland.
Contact us at [noidlab.collective@gmail.com](mailto:noidlab.collective@gmail.com) to share ideas for future sessions or to express interest in presenting your work.
A special thanks to TOG for allowing us to use the space for these events, and [Derivative](https://derivative.ca/) for supporting the project. The meetups are hosted each month by a group of artists and creative technologists:

Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street.
This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play.
The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day.
**IMPORTANT!**
**The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.**
Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested.
Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.
Board Game Meet Up in Celbridge!
A weekly board game meet up in "Mc Mahon’s Bar and Eatery" which is a pub. We get our own section, it's wheelchair friendly and parking is free! 🙂
Whether you are new or a veteran player you are all are welcome!
General guidelines are:
1. Avoid handing drinks to people OVER a game.
2. We cannot take responsibility in the event of theft so keep your valuables close to you.
3. Strictly over 18+ only.
The "rules" would be:
1. Be respectful to each other.
2. Don't be a creep.
3. Be patient to players of all skill levels.
Failure to be a decent human being\* will jeopardise your participation in future events.
The pub owner is really nice and are letting us use the space so if you can - please buy a tea, coffee or a drink on the night to support them if you can but don't feel obligated to do so.
They also do food so you won't go hungry!
The event starts at 7 PM and everyone is free to play until 11 PM where we'll wrap it up for the cleaners.
Feel free to bring your games, join in on a game if there's space or organise a game here for the upcoming event to get participants. We advertise the games we want to play ahead of time on our discord server, so feel free to check it out. https://discord.gg/xW8WryXmKu
If you get lost or have any questions feel free to message me on WhatsApp at 0858405446.
Just a note for those coming by car from Dublin:
1. I highly recommend using the motorway then driving into the pub. There's a slightly faster way with the back roads but unless you are from the area its not worth the 2 minutes saved since it's barely lit and the bends are somewhat hazardous.
2. Traffic from 5 - 6:30 is horrendous but the roads are clear enough after this time.

Let’s play… Dead Serious / Campfire
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
🎭 **This week's facilitators:**
* 🧬 **Cyrus** with *[Dead Serious](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a_8HoeLE_anm-9TifDPy71cig5l92P9P/view?usp=sharing)*, a one-page RPG where you play invincible unyielding warriors. The most ELITE of the ELITE: The DREADBUTCHERS. But the squad has a malfunction - they can experience EMOTION. In this game you must always remain in character. If you laugh, stop talking in a DEEP IMPOSING voice or don't take the mission seriously your character might.... EXPLODE!
* 🐺 **Scott** with *[Campfire](https://witchpleas.com/products/campfire-the-any-story-anywhere-intro-rpg)*, a story-based game by our own Wojtek Borowicz. A group of friends have rented a cottage in the woods near Briançon, a remote Alpine village in France. They plan to spend a couple of days kicking back, drinking mulled wine, and skiing in a nearby resort. They are weary from their long journey, but that will soon be the least of their worries. Can they survive the night once the deadly secrets of Briançon emerge from the darkness on the night of the full moon?

Zero to Agent: Dublin | Give(a)Go
Give(a)Go is hosting a beginner-friendly agent builder day in Dublin on **May 2nd**, as part of a global week of building around AI agents.
**NOTE: To confirm your spot register on [www.giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent](https://giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent)**
Agents are the new apps. They don't just respond, they reason, plan, and act. They browse the web, call APIs, write code, send messages, and loop until the job is done. And right now, the tooling to build them has caught up with the ambition.
This is a beginner-friendly event.
This is a day to go from zero to a working agent. Something that actually does something. Not a demo, not a prototype sitting in a notebook -- a deployed, live, usable thing with a URL you can share.
## Build tracks
You can choose one of the tracks below, or mix tools if your idea needs it.
## Track 1: Vibe coding agents with Vercel
Use Vercel’s tools to go quickly from idea to deployed agent.
This track is for people who want to build fast, prototype with natural language, create interfaces, connect tools, and ship something live by the end of the day.
**v0 + MCPs**
Go from prompt to interface, then connect your app to real tools and data.
**Workflow Development Kit**
Build durable agent workflows that can run async tasks, recover from failures, and continue across deploys.
**ChatSDK Agents**
Create agents that live inside chat-based workflows like Slack, Discord, GitHub, or your own product.
**NOTE: To confirm your spot register on [www.giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent](https://giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent)**
# Track 2: Production-ready agents with Lua
Use Lua to build agents that connect to real tools, APIs, and business workflows.
This track is for builders who want to write actual agent logic in TypeScript, define custom tools, connect external services, test locally, and deploy without managing infrastructure.
Lua is especially useful for agents that need to work across real channels like web, mobile, Slack, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger, while handling hosting, scaling, orchestration, context, retries, and monitoring behind the scenes.
Good for builders who want to create agents that feel closer to real products: customer support agents, lead qualification agents, internal operations agents, e-commerce assistants, research agents, workflow automations, and API-connected assistants.
**What to Expect on the Day**
* A full day of focused building with other motivated builders
* Short kickoff to set direction and expectations
* Focused on hands-on learning, learning by doing
* Build solo or collaborate with someone new
* End-of-day demos where people shares what they shipped
***
## Schedule
🕙 **11:00 AM** — Doors open
💡 **11:15 AM** — Welcome + kickoff
🎨 **12:00 PM** — Inspiration & scoping
🍕 **1:00 PM** — Lunch
🖥️ **4 :30 PM** — Live demos & shipped agents showcase
**NOTE: To confirm your spot register on [www.giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent](https://giveago.co/register/zero-to-agent)**
## Global prizes
Builders who submit through the global build week will also be eligible for the global competition, with **$6,000+ in prizes**.
Top submissions can win up to **$3,000 in credits plus Vercel Pro**. There will also be a **Community Favourite** award voted on by builders globally on May 3 and 4.

AI at Irish SMEs: Insights from The Irish Times, Buymedia & Coolplanet
Curious about what Irish SMEs are actually doing with AI? We’re getting together with the folks from The Irish Times, Buymedia, and Coolplanet to look under the hood of their data stacks. They'll be sharing exactly how they use Snowflake AI to clean up messy documents, speed up data engineering, and turn weeks of work into hours. Drop by for some honest talk about what works in the real world, plus food, drinks, and a chance to catch up with the local Snowflake community.
**Right Story, Right Reader: Building a Hybrid News Recommendation Engine in Snowflake, Juliana Murphy, The Irish Times**
At The Irish Times Group — home to The Irish Times, Irish Examiner, Breaking News, The Echo, and more — we publish hundreds of articles every week. The challenge isn’t the quality of the journalism, but helping readers find the stories most relevant to them, as discovery becomes increasingly fragmented across search, social, and other channels.
In this session, Juliana Murphy walks through how The Irish Times built For Me — a pilot personalised content feed delivered three times daily to subscribers — using a fully native Snowflake architecture, with no external ML infrastructure or data movement outside the warehouse.
The session covers the full pipeline: converting article text into 1,024-dimensional vector embeddings with Snowflake Cortex, building subscriber preference profiles from behavioural data, and using native vector similarity scoring and task orchestration to generate recommendations end-to-end within the warehouse, with output delivered to subscribers via an S3 stage.
Beyond the technical build, we’ll explore the constraints unique to news. Unlike entertainment platforms, journalism must balance personal relevance with information diversity. We’ll show how editorial curation, controlled ranking logic, and user choice are embedded directly into the system design — and how those decisions shape both architecture and outcomes.
Key takeaways:
• Why editorial and ethical constraints belong in your data architecture, not just your product spec
• Building a production-grade recommendation pipeline natively in Snowflake (Tasks, Cortex embeddings, cosine similarity scoring, Python UDFs)
• What “hybrid” means in practice: combining ML signals with editorial control
• Why domain knowledge matters as much as model performance
**Accelerating Data Engineering with Snowflake Cortex Code, Jenny Zhou, Snowflake**
This demo showcases Cortex Code, Snowflake’s AI-powered coding agent designed to automate and optimize the end-to-end data development lifecycle. We will demonstrate how Cortex Code moves beyond simple code completion by leveraging platform awareness—integrating your database schema, security context, and execution logs directly into the development workflow.
**Extracting Structure from Chaos: Parsing Documents from 400+ Media Sources with Cortex AI at Buymedia, Estella Roberts, Buymedia**
At Buymedia, ingesting data from over 400 unique media sources is anything but clean. Every source brings its own document formats, layout quirks, and edge cases that completely break traditional extraction tools.
In this session, Estella Roberts shares how Buymedia transformed a manual, error-prone bottleneck into an automated, native pipeline using Snowflake Cortex AI and CORTEX.COMPLETE.
We'll dive deep into the architecture, explore the messiest edge cases, and share practical solutions for when unstructured documents refuse to cooperate.
Expect less theory, more real-world trade-offs, and actionable lessons on building resilient, modern AI pipelines.
**From Sprints to Hours: Building an AI-Powered Data Stack at Coolplanet, Niall Magee, Coolplanet**
At Coolplanet, we handle massive volumes of customer data effortlessly. But our internal business data? That started with Google Sheets, a basic BI tool, and a quiet confidence that it would scale. It didn't.
In this session, we’ll share our honest journey from a fragile spreadsheet setup to a production-grade modern data stack using Fivetran, dbt, and Snowflake. More importantly, we'll reveal how AI became our ultimate force multiplier, turning sprint-long tasks into hours-long workflows.
The highlight of the session is a deep dive into our AI-driven build process. We’ll show you how to take a plain-language brief and immediately generate dbt models, semantic layers, and functional Streamlit dashboards.
Key Takeaways:
* The AI Workflow: Practical steps to accelerate dbt, YAML, and SQL generation.
* The Stack Evolution: Honest lessons from migrating to Fivetran, dbt, and Snowflake.
* Beyond Traditional BI: Why we are shifting toward AI-scaffolded Streamlit apps.
* Snowflake Cortex: How to ground natural language queries in a governed semantic model.

Board games at The Forge
The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group!
The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play.
Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes.
We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area.
Parking can sometimes fill esrly. There is additional parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.

Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that.
We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
Columbus Code & Coffee 86 @ Improving
Columbus Code & Coffee is an inclusive, informal co-working session. People of all skill levels attend, and we love it that way. Many people (optionally) bring projects to work on, and many other people (optionally) socialize the entire time. It's entirely up to you!
**What to Expect at the Intro Circle**
\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
Near the beginning of the event (1:30 pm), we do a standup:
* Organizer announcements, updates, and logistics
Round 1 - (7 secs max):
* Your name
* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
