Save the date! The Mozilla Meetup series continues with talks focused on modern web technologies. To account for typical **no-show rates**, we’ve opened more RSVP spots than we can physically accommodate. Based on our last event, only about 36 of 100 registered participants (including Mozillians) attended in person. **We will admit attendees on a first-come, first-served basis and will need to close the doors once we reach room capacity (around 50 people).** Note that this event operates under the [Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines](https://www.mozilla.org/about/governance/policies/participation/). **18:00** \- Doors open **18:30** \- Tracking \(Protection\) Everywhere There are a variety of tracking vectors on the web. But how exactly does this tracking work and what mechanism do we have available to protect our privacy? This talk takes a closer look at the many anti-tracking mechanisms Firefox uses to protect its users, and discusses the threat models behind them and the practical protection they provide. Bio: Manuel Bucher is a software engineer on the Firefox Privacy team working on anti-tracking in Firefox **19:30:** No Servers, No APIs: AI in the Browser I’ll present how modern web technologies make it possible to run AI models directly in the browser combining WebLLM and WebAssembly to deliver powerful, privacy-preserving client-side AI experiences. For more context, here’s a related article I wrote for Mozilla AI: [https://blog.mozilla.ai/3w-for-in-browser-ai-webllm-wasm-webworkers/](https://blog.mozilla.ai/3w-for-in-browser-ai-webllm-wasm-webworkers/) **Bio:** Barış Güler is an engineering leader working on in-browser AI systems that leverage WebLLM, WASM, and web platform features to bring AI inference and tooling into client environments. He writes about web-native AI and open-source approaches to privacy-first machine intelligence (and a Rust fan, for sure).

Silent Reading / Creating Club at W66 (Saturday) [Luma to RSVP]
RSVP on Luma: https://luma.com/66zp1utm Silent Reading / Creating Club is a gathering for people who enjoy focusing together in public. Bring a book, a notebook, a sketchpad, knitting needles — whatever you’d like to spend a quiet hour with. All projects and all participants are welcome. This year is about creating more — quietly, consistently, imperfectly — and shaping environments that support that. If you’re building something of your own, you’re especially welcome here. We’re building a community of readers and creators who value depth, presence, and shared silence. The magic isn’t just in the quiet hour — it’s in the people who return and make it feel like a familiar room. (Please RSVP “yes” only if you can make it, so we can save a seat for you and others on the waitlist.) This quiet ritual unfolds at **W66 Café**. There’s no entrance fee, but please order at least one item from the café and don’t bring outside drinks 🙂 No assignments. No pressure. No productivity race. Just a shared hour of intentional silence, followed by relaxed conversation. 🕰 Our Agenda **10:30 – 11:00** Arrivals, ordering drinks/food, light social time **11:00 – 12:00** The Great Quiet Hour (Read. Write. Sketch. Code. Think. Sit.) **12:00 – 12:30** Optional socializing — share what you were reading or creating, or simply continue in quiet focus. ## **🏡 House Guidelines** To keep this space calm and welcoming for everyone: • Silence during the focus hour (no calls or conversations) • Phones on silent mode • If using a laptop, please avoid meetings or audio — headphones welcome • Arrive before 11:00 if possible to minimize disruptions

Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA
