Build in Public, Connect in Person (March Meetup)
Build in Public, Connect in Person (March Meetup)
Hi all, It's time for another freelancer's meetup! Freelancing in Vienna is the (semi) regular meetup for independent professionals in the city. Two talks, free pizza and drinks, and time to connect with people who work the same way you do. Agenda * 18:30 Doors open * 19:00 Welcome * 19:10 **Build in Public: A Freelancer's Playbook for Launching an AI Product in 4 Weeks** by Clemens Helm * 19:40 Pizza & drinks * 20:10 **Consistency and Discipline in Freelancing: Turning Revenue Goals into Daily Targets** by Alexander Schörghuber * 20:40 Networking * \~21:30 Wrap up **Talks** **Build in Public: A Freelancer's Playbook for Launching an AI Product in 4 Weeks** by **[Clemens Helm](https://www.linkedin.com/in/clemenshelm/)** Most freelancers sell hours. I wanted to build something of my own. So I started building Pinchy (heypinchy.com) — a self-hosted AI agent platform — completely in public. Daily LinkedIn posts, a dev blog, open source on GitHub, guerilla marketing. The full stack, not just code. The surprising part: the product isn't even the point. The process is the portfolio. In this talk I'll share: * Why "Build in Public" is a powerful strategy for freelancers who want to shift into a new field (in my case: AI) * How AI tools helped me ship fast — the product, the website, the branding, the docs, even the logo were all built with AI assistance * What actually worked for visibility (and what flopped) — with real numbers from LinkedIn, GitHub, and website analytics * How documenting your work publicly builds more credibility than any CV or portfolio page ever could Whether you're thinking about launching your own product, pivoting into AI, or just want to stand out as a freelancer — this is 20 years of freelancing distilled into 4 weeks of building out loud. **Consistency and Discipline in Freelancing: Turning Revenue Goals into Daily Targets** by **[Alexander Schörghuber](https://alex-schoerg.at/)** Freelancing promises freedom: no boss, no fixed hours, no one telling you when to work. But that freedom comes with a hidden challenge: there is no built-in structure that ensures you're actually working enough to reach your financial goals. Most freelancers track time. But many don't actually know what they should be aiming for, or whether they're on track to reach their revenue goals. In this talk I'll share how thinking in daily billable targets instead of vague productivity can bring structure and predictability back into freelancing. Topics include: * Why freelancing often oscillates between overworking and falling behind financially * How translating revenue goals into daily billable targets changes decision making * A practical system (controli.at) that connects time tracking with revenue goals This talk is for freelancers who want to keep the freedom of freelancing, while adding the discipline and predictability of a structured work life. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **Want to give a talk at the next meetup?** We're looking for speakers. 20–30 minutes on anything relevant to working independently. Send a message to me (Aaron) here on meetup. \-\-\- We're sponsored for the space and snacks again by https://www.lean-coders.at/, a wonderful freelancer focused "agency" in Vienna. They are currently offering coworking desks for interested freelancers. Their team of professional devs and PMs would also love to hear about your next software project. If you know of anyone looking for a great software team, they even have an affiliate program for referrals https://lean-coders.at/affiliate/ See you soon!!
Beyond Prompts: Securing and Observing Autonomous AI Agents
Beyond Prompts: Securing and Observing Autonomous AI Agents
**Cloud Native Night Munich** AI agents are no longer just generating text — they are opening pull requests, deploying to Kubernetes, and making autonomous decisions inside production systems. But how do we secure, govern, and observe systems that are inherently non-deterministic? In this meetup, we explore practical patterns for fine-grained authorization of AI-driven DevOps workflows and robust observability strategies for autonomous agents. Expect concrete architectures, cloud-native tooling, and real-world lessons for building agentic AI you can actually trust in production. THIS MEETUP WILL BE HYBRID. **\|** Zoom link will be available shortly before the meetup starts \*\*\* AGENDA \*\*\* * 6\.30 PM \| Doors open\. Grab some snacks & drinks\. * 7\.00 PM \| Welcome & Intro – **Start of hybrid meetup** * 7\.15 PM \| **Beyond API Keys: Fine-Grained AI Agent Authorization for DevOps**, Ankit Asthana (Cloud infrastructure Architect at SQUER), Tom Graupner (Head of Cloud & Platform Engineering as SQUER) * \~8:15 PM \| **Mastering Agentic Observability: Reliable Multi-Agent Systems with OpenTelemetry,** Nicolai Ommer (Software Architect at QAware) * afterwards: More snacks & drinks, and a lot of time for networking with all attendees and speakers. \*\*\* ABSTRACTS \*\*\* **Beyond API Keys: Fine-Grained AI Agent Authorization for DevOps**, Ankit Asthana (Cloud infrastructure Architect at SQUER), Tom Graupner (Head of Cloud & Platform Engineering as SQUER) AI agents are increasingly performing powerful DevOps actions like opening pull requests and deploying to Kubernetes. Yet most teams still rely on static tokens for authorization, which creates security and governance risks. In this talk, we present a practical pattern using OpenFGA and an Agent Gateway to enforce relationship-based, auditable authorization for AI-driven DevOps workflows—ensuring automation remains fast, controlled, and explainable. **Mastering Agentic Observability: Reliable Multi-Agent Systems with OpenTelemetry,** Nicolai Ommer (Software Architect at QAware) The software landscape is undergoing a paradigm shift. Agentic AI. While microservices operate deterministically, AI agents act probabilistically and often unpredictably, making them autonomous. This presents a significant challenge for platform engineers and DevOps teams. How can you monitor a service whose response varies with each call? How can you debug a 'hallucination' or an endless loop in decision-making? In this talk, we will demonstrate why traditional 'golden signals' (latency, traffic and errors) are insufficient for AI agents and explain how they must be expanded. We treat agents as the new microservices and use the well-established OpenTelemetry (OTel) standard to shed light on the inner workings of LLMs and agentic workforces. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Please comply with our [Code of Conduct](https://www.greenmanifesto.de/en/code-of-conduct). Please note that photos are taken during the meetup. If you do not want to appear in the photos, please contact the meetup team at the beginning of the event. Bitte halte dich an unseren [Code of Conduct](https://www.greenmanifesto.de/code-of-conduct). Während unserer Meetups werden Fotos aufgenommen. Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator. WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion. **FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends! Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution. **FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
**Complex Trauma Support Group** Our group is intended for survivors of complex trauma. If you are here, it’s likely that so much of who you are and what you have experienced in this life is actually invisible to most people––to family, society, coworkers, and the people who are around you. We are a peer-led group of survivors creating opportunities for ourselves and others to share our experiences, share support, and build relationships in kind community together. Survivor experiences might include: child sexual abuse, incest, child trafficking, and other experiences of people living with traumatic dissociation and complex PTSD. **What to expect at your first meeting:** Currently, we are offering a bi-monthly in person group at 2:00pm on the first and third Sunday of the month. The only criterion for joining the group is that you are a survivor of trauma wishing to have more kindness in your own life and share kindness with others, and that you agree to practice to group’s relational agreements available for view here: https://www.kindgroups.com/agreements. Joining the group is free of charge. We ask that new people connect with us for 30 minutes on the phone or on zoom before coming to their first group, so that we can determine together that we are a good fit. Our meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Participants are never required to share. You’re also welcome to choose a pseudonym and you will never be asked for private information. You are welcome to leave at any time. The kindness that survivors can share when among others who have survived similar childhood experiences is something we rarely get to experience. Time spent with others who understand even a little bit more about us is a relief. Our hope is to help ourselves and others experience that we are not alone. We wish for our efforts to be a cause of kindness in our own lives and the lives of each other. You can read more about the groups at www.kindgroups.com.

From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively. This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way. **YouTube Link** TBA
