\*\*\*\*\* Session Details \*\*\*\*\*
**Speaker 1:** Rajeet Kumar
**Title:** Stop Guessing, Start Indexing: A Developer’s Guide to Database Indexes
A lot of developers know that indexes make queries faster, but many don’t know why, when an index will actually be used, or why some queries ignore them completely.
In this talk, we open that black box.
We build a mental model of the B-Tree, the structure used by most databases for their default indexes, and look at its internal layout.
Using that model, we’ll explore where B-Tree indexes shine, where they fail, the costs associated with them, and how selectivity affects whether an index is used.
Finally, we’ll briefly look at practical techniques such as covering indexes and functional indexes.
**Speaker 2:** Jan Karremans
**Title:** Is your PostgreSQL truly Cloud(native)?
As organizations modernize their platforms with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices, databases are often the last piece to truly transform. Simply lifting and shifting PostgreSQL to a cloud VM does not automatically make it cloud-native. So what does?
We’ll cut through the buzzword bingo and examine what they mean for PostgreSQL in real-world environments. Drawing from decades of database experience and years running PostgreSQL in Kubernetes, this session highlights how cloud-native principles such as automation, resilience, observability, and rapid redeployment reshape the way developers and DBAs collaborate.
Whether you are a developer, DBA, architect, or decision-maker, this talk will help you assess where you stand today and what it takes to make PostgreSQL a true enabler of speed and innovation in modern cloud environments.
**Speaker 3:** Pavlo Golub
**Title:** Bringing Real Test Coverage to PostgreSQL Code
**Abstract:** https://posetteconf.com/2026/talks/pgcov-bringing-real-test-coverage-to-postgresql-code/

Humming Traditions: SODAI - Straw, Form & Wind
An immersive workshop for adults, quiet hands, patient minds, and those who enjoy the slow rhythm of creation.
🌿Limited spots. The group is limited to 8 people. You can secure your place by purchasing a ticket through the link:
https://doobeedoo-goodies.sumupstore.com/produkt/humming-traditions-sodai-straw-form-and-wind
🌿Date: 18th of March
🌿Time: 18:30—20:30 (it might take longer, depending on group tempo)
🌿Location: DooBeeDoo Goodies Atelier (Märzstraße 86, 1150 Vienna)
Step into the gentle rhythm of creation and discover Sodai, traditional Lithuanian straw mobiles that once filled homes with balance, harmony, and quiet beauty. In this workshop, we will explore the geometry of air, learning how to prepare and string straw into delicate symmetrical forms that sway softly with every breeze. Piece by piece, your hands will follow the same patterns that generations before us used to invite order and peace into their homes.
You’ll learn the basic techniques of straw preparation, stringing, and construction, and experience how a simple natural material can transform into something light, precise, and full of meaning. Together, we’ll move through a calm, meditative process, each gesture connecting thought, breath, and creation in quiet balance.
By the end, you’ll leave not only with your own handmade Sodas, a timeless ornament carrying both heritage and your creative touch, but also with the knowledge, focus, and stillness that this ancient craft awakens. It feels less like finishing an object and more like completing a gentle ritual of patience and peace.
To keep the experience personal and attentive, the group will be small and intimate, space is limited, so that every participant can receive individual guidance and care.
This workshop invites you to slow down, focus, and reconnect — with your hands, your thoughts, and the quiet poetry of simple materials. No previous experience is needed, only patient hands, a calm mind, and an eye for quiet detail.
🌿🌿🌿
Humming Traditions is a series of creative workshops that explore the living, breathing essence of cultural practices. Each event invites participants to connect with ancient techniques, natural materials, and artistic expression in a hands-on, immersive experience.
The series celebrates the quiet resonance of tradition, the subtle vibrations, textures, and forms that have carried meaning through centuries. Whether through sound, movement, or craft, Humming Traditions is about experiencing culture as a living, dynamic, and tactile art form.
Each workshop stands on its own yet shares a common thread: creativity, mindfulness, and a connection to nature and heritage. Participants leave with newly learned skills, a calm mind, and a deeper appreciation for cultural artistry.

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

Build in Public, Connect in Person (March Meetup)
Hi all, It's time for another freelancer's meetup!
Freelancing in Vienna is the (semi) regular meetup for independent professionals in the city. Two talks, free pizza and drinks, and time to connect with people who work the same way you do.
Agenda
* 18:30 Doors open
* 19:00 Welcome
* 19:10 **Build in Public: A Freelancer's Playbook for Launching an AI Product in 4 Weeks** by Clemens Helm
* 19:40 Pizza & drinks
* 20:10 **Consistency and Discipline in Freelancing: Turning Revenue Goals into Daily Targets** by Alexander Schörghuber
* 20:40 Networking
* \~21:30 Wrap up
**Talks**
**Build in Public: A Freelancer's Playbook for Launching an AI Product in 4 Weeks** by **[Clemens Helm](https://www.linkedin.com/in/clemenshelm/)**
Most freelancers sell hours. I wanted to build something of my own. So I started building Pinchy (heypinchy.com) — a self-hosted AI agent platform — completely in public. Daily LinkedIn posts, a dev blog, open source on GitHub, guerilla marketing. The full stack, not just code.
The surprising part: the product isn't even the point. The process is the portfolio.
In this talk I'll share:
* Why "Build in Public" is a powerful strategy for freelancers who want to shift into a new field (in my case: AI)
* How AI tools helped me ship fast — the product, the website, the branding, the docs, even the logo were all built with AI assistance
* What actually worked for visibility (and what flopped) — with real numbers from LinkedIn, GitHub, and website analytics
* How documenting your work publicly builds more credibility than any CV or portfolio page ever could
Whether you're thinking about launching your own product, pivoting into AI, or just want to stand out as a freelancer — this is 20 years of freelancing distilled into 4 weeks of building out loud.
**Consistency and Discipline in Freelancing: Turning Revenue Goals into Daily Targets** by **[Alexander Schörghuber](https://alex-schoerg.at/)**
Freelancing promises freedom: no boss, no fixed hours, no one telling you when to work. But that freedom comes with a hidden challenge: there is no built-in structure that ensures you're actually working enough to reach your financial goals.
Most freelancers track time. But many don't actually know what they should be aiming for, or whether they're on track to reach their revenue goals.
In this talk I'll share how thinking in daily billable targets instead of vague productivity can bring structure and predictability back into freelancing. Topics include:
* Why freelancing often oscillates between overworking and falling behind financially
* How translating revenue goals into daily billable targets changes decision making
* A practical system (controli.at) that connects time tracking with revenue goals
This talk is for freelancers who want to keep the freedom of freelancing, while adding the discipline and predictability of a structured work life.

In person peer-led support group for survivors of complex trauma
**Complex Trauma Support Group**
Our group is intended for survivors of complex trauma. If you are here, it’s likely that so much of who you are and what you have experienced in this life is actually invisible to most people––to family, society, coworkers, and the people who are around you.
We are a peer-led group of survivors creating opportunities for ourselves and others to share our experiences, share support, and build relationships in kind community together. Survivor experiences might include: child sexual abuse, incest, child trafficking, and other experiences of people living with traumatic dissociation and complex PTSD.
**What to expect at your first meeting:**
Currently, we are offering a bi-monthly in person group at 2:00pm on the first and third Sunday of the month. The only criterion for joining the group is that you are a survivor of trauma wishing to have more kindness in your own life and share kindness with others, and that you agree to practice to group’s relational agreements available for view here: https://www.kindgroups.com/agreements. Joining the group is free of charge.
We ask that new people connect with us for 30 minutes on the phone or on zoom before coming to their first group, so that we can determine together that we are a good fit.
Our meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Participants are never required to share. You’re also welcome to choose a pseudonym and you will never be asked for private information. You are welcome to leave at any time.
The kindness that survivors can share when among others who have survived similar childhood experiences is something we rarely get to experience. Time spent with others who understand even a little bit more about us is a relief. Our hope is to help ourselves and others experience that we are not alone. We wish for our efforts to be a cause of kindness in our own lives and the lives of each other.
You can read more about the groups at www.kindgroups.com.

**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way.
