Looking forward to seeing you there! đ
Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and mediated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a âŹ6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.
Solo travellers: casual hangout in Vienna (4pm)
**No pressure, no planâjust new friends** â¨
Whether youâre visiting Vienna for the first time, recently relocated, or simply love connecting with curious people, this weekly meetup is the perfect way to share stories, make friends, and go explore, as a group, the magic that Vienna has to offer đŚđš
**What to expect?**
⢠**Casual & hostless**: no formal host, no schedule: just show up, be yourself, meet fellow solo travellers & expats and decide as a group where you feel like going
⢠**Central meeting point**: it is surrounded by cultural landmarks, cafes, and restaurants, making it a convenient and safe starting point.
⢠**Open to everyone**: whether you are a local, an expat or just passing through for a few days, you are welcome to join. (English is the primary language, but feel free to switch of course)
**How to talk with strangers?**
(and create meaningful connections)
To help you get started, I curated a little game of **[ridiculously good questions](https://www.pierrebonvalot.com/theblog?p=285a9711d7df80d5ac25dd4ef8fe5394&pm=c)** you can ask to break the ice, shift the conversation from dull to intriguing and fun, and eventually create meaningful connection quickly. I hope this helps!
**The only things you need to do areâŚ**
⢠Leave a message in the comment section to let the others know that you will actually be there (I donât want you to end up alone there :)
⢠If you canât make it anymore, no problem! But please update your RSVP to let the others know
⢠Please be gentle and patient with each other. We all want to make good friends here.
**Why join?**
⢠Meet open-minded travellers and locals who are keen to connect, learn and have fun together.
⢠Experience Vienna... as a group.
⢠Be part of a global community that celebrates solo travelling and meaningful connections between foreign and locals.
**How does it works?**
1\. Arrive at the meeting spot at the scheduled time\.
2\. Look for other joinersâfriendly faces and curious explorers\.
3\. Introduce yourself\, connect with others\, and decide as a group where to go\.
**When & where?**
⢠Day: every Sunday
⢠Time: 4:00 PM (meetup sometimes displays a different time zone: but itâs always 4pm local time)
⢠Location: in front of the Mozart Monument inside the Burggarten
**Hostless**: I am setting up the event for you all to meet, but I won't be there myself this time :)
**Hi my names is Pierre**
I created this Meetup group because I want to see more human connection happen in the real world. I feel many of us want this, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I hope this helps a little bit.
I also work as a transformational coach: I help people who feel stuck in their life to reconnect with themselves, create real change and ultimately live more fulfilling lives.

The Inner Pilgrimage - A Meaningful Start into 2026
### A Contemplative Retreat for Inner Peace and Strength in a Demanding Life
### As one year quietly fadesâŚ
and another gently approachesâŚ
thereâs often a subtle pull inside.
A senseâŚ
that we donât want to fall back
into the same old rhythms,
the familiar patterns,
the expectations that no longer feel alive.
Something in us wants to begin differently â
more consciously,
more meaningfully.
And for many of us,
after years of building,
achieving,
and doing everything we once hoped forâŚ
another question begins to whisper underneath it all:
**What truly matters now?**
When the striving softens,
and the world finally grows quietâŚ
a deeper longing rises.
Not for more to accomplish.
Not for more to manage.
But for something real.
Something that feels like truth.
**The Inner Pilgrimage** is for these exact moments â
when freedom feels strangely heavy,
when the old tools no longer bring clarity,
when the next step is no longer outwardâŚ
but inward.
It isnât about resolutions.
It isnât about goals.
It isnât about pushing harder.
Itâs about listening again.
Itâs about coming home to yourself before the year unfolds.
Itâs about giving yourself a gentle, meaningful inner boost â
so you can begin 2026 grounded, clear, alignedâŚ
and quietly connected to what truly matters.
### **Essence**
In a world that constantly asks for more â
more effort,
more speed,
more responsibility â
this weekend offers a simple invitation:
Pause.
Breathe.
Come home.
**The Inner Pilgrimage** is not a journey outward.
It is a soft descent inward â
into stillness,
into presence,
into the quiet clarity that has been waiting beneath the noise.
You wonât be traveling far.
But you may return changed.
This is a space to rest.
To listen.
To rediscover the strength and peace within you
that daily life so easily consumes.
> The most meaningful journeys are not those that take us far away,
> but those that bring us deeply home.
## **Program Overview**
The morning begins slowly.
A settling.
A gentle arriving into your body, your breath, your presence.
* A welcome into stillness
* A quiet talk: *What does it mean to walk a pilgrimage of the soul?*
* Guided inner reflection: *Where am I on my path right now*
* Time for journaling, sensing, or resting
* A soft morning of wordless presence â a Vigil of Stillness
Short lunch break,
softenedâŚ
openedâŚ
ready for a different kind of listening.
###
The afternoon continues in quiet.
Not with effort,
but with ease.
* A meditation
* A talk: *Coming home â living from what you discovered*
* A gentle dialogue circle or short reflective moments
* Tea shared in silence
* Time for integration, writing, or contemplation
* A symbolic closing ritual
* Ending the day in silence, presence, and gratitude
You return to your life
not with pressure,
but with clarityâŚ
with strengthâŚ
with a renewed sense of direction from within.
### **Atmosphere**
Soft.
Unhurried.
Warm.
Human.
A space where silence isnât empty â
itâs full of something deeper.
A space where you donât have to perform,
pretend,
or hold yourself together.
Just be.
As you are.
Light, healthy snacks will be offered
as a small act of *mindful feasting* â
simple, nourishing, grounding.
Nothing loud.
Nothing forced.
Just presence,
warmth,
and the quiet company of others
walking their own inner path.

The Big Speed Friending â (BINGO EDITION; indoors)
--
**UPDATE: this time we'll still do our usual format of group conversation. The new Bingo concept we're excited about, is taking more time to develop, but stay tuned for next time! Also, we're indoors at a new location (Jo&Joe's 5th floor, see itinerary).**
Are you ready to mingle and make new friends?
A YouTuber visited us and made [this 3-minute video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eG1dYro4u8) đđ
**"How does it work?"**
We'll talk in small groups and change every \~10 minutes. After an hour we'll let you mingle freely (and exchange contact info if you like).
**"10 minutes, is that enough to make a new friend?**"
It's enough to see who you vibe with. As one of you said: "There were 4 people I really vibed with. I took their contact info, and I met them for coffee in the following days."
**"Can I bring friends?"**
Great idea! đ
**"Can I give you feedback about the event?"**
Yes, keep the ideas coming!
**"Give me some great conversation starters!"**

Enhancing Cloud Network Security
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, we will meet at the Slingshot offices at 700 N Hurstbourne Pkwy. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the presentations will begin sharply at 6:30 p.m. Along with an excellent presentation, TEKsystems will provide food. Be sure to RSVP so we know how much food is needed. Afterward, we will go to Brick House Tavern for drinks and food to continue the conversation.
The session will also be broadcast at https://twitch.tv/TaleLearnCode.
### Enhancing Cloud Network Security
When setting up cloud network security, it is crucial to implement a multi-layered security approach to protect your infrastructure and data. This involves configuring network security groups to control inbound and outbound traffic, ensuring that only legitimate traffic is allowed. Utilizing a centralized firewall for network security policies and threat protection is also essential.
Leveraging native security features for continuous monitoring, threat detection, and security analytics can significantly enhance your security posture. By adhering to best practices and regularly reviewing and updating security configurations, organizations can maintain a robust and resilient network security posture in any cloud environment.
This talk will give you an in-depth insight into implementing Azure network solutions that significantly strengthen network security posture. Attendees will learn about the critical role of Network Security Groups (NSGs) in controlling traffic to and from Azure resources, ensuring only legitimate traffic is allowed. The utilization of Azure Firewall for centralized network security policies and comprehensive threat protection will also be covered.
The session will place strong emphasis on advanced network architecture designs such as micro-segmentation, which creates isolated network segments, significantly reducing the attack surface and limiting lateral movement within the network. By incorporating these sophisticated architecture designs and adhering to best practices, participants will gain invaluable knowledge on how to robustly secure their Azure environments, ultimately enhancing the overall security framework and resilience of their infrastructure.
Azure CBUS January: Learn Infrastructure-as-Code Through Minecraft
## Learn Infrastructure-as-Code (the FUN Way) â Through Minecraft đŽâď¸
**Joint Meetup: Azure CBUS Ă Columbus HashiCorp User Group Ă DevOps Columbus**
What if learning Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code didnât feel like a whitepaper⌠but more like a game?
Join us for a joint Azure CBUS, Columbus HashiCorp User Group, and DevOps Columbus meetup where **Mark Tinderholt** \(Principal Architect\, Microsoft Azure \| HashiCorp Ambassador \| âThe Azure Terraformerâ\) shows how **Minecraft** can be used as a surprisingly powerful way to understand real-world Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
In this session, Mark will demonstrate how Terraform and Azure can be used to provision, configure, and manage Minecraft serversâwhile teaching the same patterns youâd use for production cloud infrastructure.
### What weâll cover
* Infrastructure-as-Code fundamentals using **Terraform**
* Provisioning real infrastructure on **Azure**
* Applying **IaC best practices** (immutability, repeatability, versioning)
* How playful environments like Minecraft make complex concepts *click*
* Why learning through experimentation beats click-ops every time
### Who should attend
* Developers, platform engineers, and cloud engineers
* Terraform users (new or experienced)
* Anyone curious about Infrastructure-as-Code but tired of boring examples
* Minecraft fans who want to see it used in a totally unexpected way
No prior Minecraft experience requiredâjust curiosity and a willingness to learn infrastructure the fun way.
Come for the blocks, stay for the Terraform. đ§ąâĄď¸đ

Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
2026 may be the last year many developers write code by hand. We need coding agents to solve complex problems in production codebases, but vibe coding alone wonât get us there. Vibe coding is all gas, no brakes. It burns up the context window until the agent slips on its own slop. You can go fast at first, but the more you stuff into the context window, the more tangled its outputs get. While the industry is rapidly increasing code generation speed, we still have to understand, review, merge, and maintain what gets shipped.
This talk featuring Michael Geiger will outline how coding agents (Claude Code + Gas Town) work and a framework for orchestrating them to solve complicated problems in complex codebases. Itâs about steering the model: doing the research to align intent, planning the approach up front, implementing in parallel steps, and breaking early. Human judgment still matters, but it should be spent on high-leverage decisions: what to build, what to forbid, and âwhat is quality?â, not cleaning up slop. Attendees will leave with a checklist to identify workflow and environment gaps that hold agents back, so you and your team can ship higher-quality software starting tomorrow.
