Transformative Trencin (from Vienna)
Crowned European Capital of Culture 2026 under the motto "Awakening Curiosity", beautiful Trencin lies right on the Vah, Slovakia's longest river.
From Vienna main station, a quick train whisks us over to the Slovak capital in less than 60 minutes. There, we have a quick break before taking another express train to our destination. Once arrived, the immediate thing catching our eyes is Trencin castle, the city's dominant feature. Before making our way up castle hill through Brezina Park, we first wander through the town's quaint city core along baroque Hotel Elizabeth, elongated Mierové Square, the medieval Parish Stairway built in 1568 and Gothic St. Michael's Carner.
Underway we'll have fun with ice breakers, discussion prompts and local trivia. After dinner, we take a casual walk along the Vah river bank back to the station. Heading westwards, our return train follows the stunning silhouette of the Lower Carpathians.
To secure your spots, please ...
Step 1: RSVP here on Meetup first (optional but recommended)
Step 2: Complete your booking at https://vienna.ixpat.com/trencin

Pause. Sense. Breathe. Return to yourself.
Due to the strong interest and warm response to the first workshop, this session is returning. In a world of speed, multitasking, and constant stimulation, true presence becomes a rare and powerful skill. This interactive workshop offers a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and understand how mindfulness and meditation
transforms your brain, your communication, and your moment-to-moment experience.
Through a blend of neuroscience, mindfulness tools, introspection, pair- and group activities, we explore how the brain, body, and nervous system shape the way we
feel, interact, and respond. You’ll learn how posture, breath, emotional signals, and internal narratives influence communication – and how mindful presence can shift
everything.
You’ll explore:
● The neuroscience of mindfulness, meditation and self-awareness.
● How feelings, needs, and body sensations shape your relationships.
● How to meet difficult emotions with curiosity and compassion.
● How to practice RAIN as a gentle, structured process.
● How Metta meditation softens the heart and supports resilience.
● How body language influences communication and nervous system safety.
● How breath and movements bring you back into the present moment.
Ideal for anyone wanting to live and communicate with more clarity, intention, and authenticity – in body, mind, and heart.
Please bring paper and a pen.
Cash donation is appreciated.
One third of the collected donations will be shared with the café, supporting this community space.

Tango Immersion Weekend: Musicality edition · WS2: Dancing to the early classics
The earliest tango orchestras shaped a rhythm and energy that still lives in social tango. In this workshop we explore how these musical qualities translate into movement in specific ways of walking, pausing and being together on the dance floor.
In combination with the Sunday workshops\*, you'll discover how different orchestras invite different ways of moving and expressing, even within the same music genre.
**Suitable for both roles and all levels.**
**No partner required.**
Zentrum Exist, Sechshauser Str. 36-38, 1150 Wien
\*You're free to register to all workshops or the one(s) of your choice.

**About this Tango Immersion Weekend**
If your tango feels like counting steps instead of interacting with the music and your dance partner, this [Tango Immersion Weekend](https://www.jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion) is for you.
We'll focus on the foundations that allow you to translate what you hear into what you dance, in a practical, embodied way.
Instead of starting from the usual Tango-Vals-Milonga approach for this topic, we'll explore something often overlooked: the different styles within Tango Argentino itself.
Have you noticed each orchestra invites a different quality of movement, timing and presence? That's why we don't dance to every tango the same way, and why simply copying steps rarely works.
Across this [Tango Immersion Weekend](https://www.jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion/#program):
* Our **Tango Essentials Lab** for all levels will help you ground perception, timing, weight transfers and presence, because musicality depends on fundamentals and embodiment (well, what doesn't?).
* **4 workshops** that combine individual and partner work invite you to explore how different Tango styles can live in your body.
* Our **Focused Práctica** supports you to integrate discoveries and receive feedback (yes, it's literally a space to practice, no Milonga dynamic).
* Our **Milonga Itinerante** is back! Now longer, at a new wonderful location, and on a monthly basis.
Join a welcoming space where learning meets what really matters: social dancing and tango friendship time.
This will be a special edition! Get ready to play! The first person who discovers what makes this one special gets a prize.
**If you've been waiting for your dance to feel less mechanical and more like a conversation with the music, this is the right moment.**
Join us to learn how to listen, choose and respond to musical impulses so your tango becomes adaptable, playful and alive.
As usual in Jessica's classes, you're welcome to join with or without a dance partner and to dance both roles.
**You can register for the full weekend (and get free access to the Milonga) or single workshops, Práctica and/or Milonga, as you feel called.**
**You're welcome alone, with a dance partner, or friends.**
Per workshop €25
Full Weekend (5 workshops + Practice session + Milonga) €140
Participants of 2 or more workshops get free entry to the Milonga
Partial scholarships are available for young students and people with low income. Use the coupon code U30 at checkout [on the website](jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion) or reach out to Jessica.

Meaningful Conversations: Reducing Suffering
**A Gentle Space for Inner Freedom (A special Meaningful Conversations event)**
Viktor Frankl wrote that even in the most difficult circumstances, one inner freedom remains: the freedom to choose how to react to any given situation.
This event begins in that space.
Pain and challenging situations are part of being human. Life brings loss, sadness, the feeling of injustice, the sense of not being good enough, change, uncertainty, and limitation — often without explanation and without choice.
This gathering is an invitation to pause, to step out of inner struggle for a moment, and to meet life as it is — with dignity and clarity.
Through shared reflections and gentle guidance, the event opens a space where psychological clarity and spiritual depth can be practically experienced rather than just explained.
A calm, respectful space to stop, listen, and reconnect with what remains steady and free, even when life is not.
**This event is especially for you if you’re new to Dieter Langenecker’s work —**
**Or if you’d like to reconnect with it.**
It also offers a natural entry point into **the monthly Meaningful Conversations**,
A gentle, ongoing space for staying connected to what truly matters
And to live with greater depth and contentment.
Tanja Odermatt & Dieter Langenecker
PS: A contribution of € 15,- for room rent, coffee/tea, and cookies will be collected.

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a “window” to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems:
* Using running totals
* Performing operations in intervals
* Identifying data gaps and islands
* Performing aggregates without losing detail
Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.

After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
**Google Analytics Alternatives**
Is it finally time to make the switch away from Google Analytics? Two-and-a-half years ago Jason Packer asked this question at Columbus Web Analytics Wednesday.
Since then: Google’s Universal Analytics has been sunset, we’ve changed our name to Columbus Data & Analytics Wednesday, and Jason has released two editions of his book “Google Analytics Alternatives”.
Fresh off the release of the 2nd edition of his book, we thought it was time to re-open this conversation. While people love to complain about it, GA’s market share has remained relatively constant (at least in the United States). Why is that? You won’t find any complaints about GA4 in this talk, but rather an overview of what’s currently available in the market and how to frame your decision-making process.
We’ll also be giving out some free copies of Jason’s book! So even if you’ve got a “GA4Lyfe” tattoo (no judgement), there’s free books to go with the free pizza and beer.
