Its particular shape with its 2 twin peaks (some says it has a heart shape) have given birth to many legends for centuries. The hike to the top of the Pedraforca has become one of the mythical excursions every mountaineer should do in Catalonia. We'll do the hike from and back to the picturesque vilage of Gosol. Starting the ascent to Pedraforca from Gósol provides a quieter and often more solitary mountain experience, with fewer hikers on the trail and greater chances to spot wildlife. We'll ascend towards the shaded side of the Tossa range, passing through beautiful pine forests. We'll reach the ridge of the range and tackle the long uphill traverse to the Enforcadura. From this point, we make the final ascent to the summit of Pollegó Superior. 🚦**Difficulty**: High. Appart from the gain of altitude, the climb from the Enforcadura to the summit of Pollegó Superior is quite challenging and may require using your hands on more than one occasion. However, there is no sense of exposure. Situat a Blanes, a la Costa Brava, el **Jardí Botànic Marimurtra és un dels jardins més bells de la riba Mediterrània**. Damunt d’uns penya-segats que voregen el mar es poden contemplar algunes de les panoràmiques més espectaculars de la costa i conèixer les espècies vegetals, la majoria exòtiques, així com força exemplars extraordinaris per la seva edat o dimensions. Amb quasi un segle d’existència, el Jardí Botànic Marimurtra **és un dels dos únics jardins botànics de Catalunya**. Bold Penguin - 6555 Longshore St, Dublin, OH 43017 \*\*\*** Ryan Carroll **Local AI in Rails: Fast, Cheap, and Predictable** Rails apps usually reach for external AI services when they need “intelligence,” but that approach can bring latency, cost, and unpredictability along for the ride. This talk shows a different path: running a Japanese sentiment model directly inside a Rails app, using ONNX Runtime, background jobs, and real-time updates to keep the user experience fast and responsive. Using a small app called **Sentiment Omikuji** as the case study, the talk walks through how the model was trained in Python, exported to ONNX, and loaded into Ruby for local inference. It also covers how Japanese text is tokenized, how the sentiment output drives a fortune generator, and why the app uses Solid Queue to keep model work off the request path. Along the way, the talk explores the tradeoffs of local inference versus API-based LLMs, and why classic machine learning can still be the right tool for focused problems.
