This event is beginner Friendly. More experienced players are still free to come along. I will explain the rules before the first game at 7:15 so please arrive on time if you're new. Drop in to our regular Open Social for a great alternative Saturday evening. It's a great informal way to see the space and meet members and visitors. ***Mountain Skills for Only €120 / course*** Ever wanted to learn the skills you need to become a competent navigator in the Irish mountains, the UK, the Alps or beyond! As a fully qualified mountain guide and course provider for Mountaineering Ireland and the UK, I run Mountain Skills which is a nationally accredited course and is delivered in an upland environment. Hiking in Ireland can be challenging not only because of its wilderness, but the island has very little sign posted hiking trails in the mountains or hills. In addition to this, as being an island in the Atlantic we experience the forces of nature; storms and weather events. In other words, Ireland is probably the best place in Europe to learn a new outdoor skill like Mountain Skills. The aim of this course is to help you learn the skills you need to get out hiking in the hills and mountains independently, safely and responsibly. You will learn how to navigate with confidence by any type of weather conditions. A Mountain Skills course is run over 2 days in an upland environment and covers: Map reading, map description, map scale, contour lines, land and ground features, navigation legs, simple navigation techniques, setting the map, the 5 D, estimation of direction & destination, grid reference, mountain hazards, hypothermia, mountain environment, timing, pacing, route planning, route card, emergency procedures, personal equipment, safe movement skills, river crossing and much more… Some level of fitness is essential in taking part in this course. It’s a New Year and Spring is almost upon us. Many of us at TOG are keen vegetable growers and we’re now looking forward to the growing season ahead. The harvest last year was super, so let’s hope for a repeat. Join us at TOG for a free seed and plant swap from 3 PM. We'll be planting lots of seeds on the day and hopefully no one will go away empty handed. We have lots of pots and we'll have a bag of potting compost too. If you have anything surplus that you'd like to share, why not bring it along.... seeds? plants? cuttings? We'd love to hear your own stories of what you like to plant in your own garden or space. Tell your friends and family about the event. If you're involved with any community gardens, then definitely tell them also. The kettle will be on all day with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits. From 7PM that same day, it’s our regular monthly Open Social event which you are welcome to join also. There’ll be pizza and plenty of chat and craic as usual. TOG is a non-profit space run by unpaid volunteers. Donations are always welcome.

Join us on a history-focused walking tour of Killiney Hill Park! My name is Marina Boyle and I'm a local tour guide excited to lead a tour of Killiney Hill Park! I’ll be taking you through everything from the obelisk to the quarry, and why the story of Daedalus and Icarus has enchanted visitors to the park for years! Whether you are local, new to the area, or wanting to learn and make friends at the same time, this tour is for you. We'll start at the car park in Killiney Hill, which is accessible via Dalkey DART station, car, or the 59 bus. Together we'll visit all the highlights of the park, where I'll explain the local history and leave time for guests to chat and make connections as well.
