Calling all new internationals in Leuven! Join us for a Welcome to Leuven Newcomer Evening where we want to welcome you to Leuven with some helpful resources and friendly faces. **What is the International House Leuven?** The International House Leuven (IHL) is a non-profit that helps internationals get settled, find work and establish a community in and around Leuven. Our work is made possible through support from our founders at imec, KU Leuven, Leuven Mindgate and Stad Leuven! Our mission is to create an amazing place for people from all over the world to live and work happily in Leuven and the region. We do this through two key activities: * **Informing**: We provide practical information, advice and insights (in English!) to help anyone find answers about living in and around Leuven. * **Connecting**: We host regular events and socials to help you meet others, find work and feel like a local in no time. Whether you have been in Leuven for 15 minutes or 15 years, whether you are an international or a born and raised local, you're welcome at IHL. **What's on the agenda for the evening?** 19:00 - We will start with an intro to the International House and how we can help you and your family. 19:50 - Choose between 2 session to join. * Session 1- **Health Care in a Nutshell**: where you can get tips from a local on the things you maybe didn't know you needed to know about the health care system and tips for Leuven * Session 2 - **Flemish Culture in a Nutshell:** Learn some good to know Flemish phrases (just the easy stuff), learn about some interesting cultural Flemish habits and also a bit of Belgian history 20:30 - Network with some IHL volunteers, ask your questions to the IHL team and get know some other internationals. 21:30 - End of event **Is the event free?** It sure is! At the IHL almost all of our events are free and open to everyone. Some events require a deposit, but we want everyone to be able to join. Already some experience in Salsa On 1 or Salsa On 2? Join Oscar & Joke each Thursday and / or Sunday for their intermediate 1 class. Our classes are inclusive. We take the time you need to learn the style and take you step-by-step with us into the world of Salsa. We teach mainly in English and speak also Dutch, French and Spanish. Come and give it a go! On 26.02.2026 we visit Atelier 210 in Etterbeek for the **Science & Cocktails #44** **Lendert Gelens + Noisy Nuns (be)** The idea is to explore the more alternative art scene of Brussels. Every living cell is a bustling, self-organizing system where countless molecules cooperate without a master plan. In our lab, we explore this mystery by taking frog eggs apart and watching their molecular “soup” come alive again — forming nuclei, dividing, and even building simple cell-like structures. By combining experiments with physical modeling and computer simulations, we uncover some of the hidden rules that let life build itself and adapt to changing environments. Such work forces us to think differently about life’s origins and what it takes for matter to become living. What makes something alive? **🎸Noisy Nuns (be)** Noisy Nuns are two women sweating behind their keyboards and drums, combining raw energy with incisive melodies. They have both cut their teeth in the Belgian rock scene, working on projects such as Moaning Cities, Von Dead, SOROR, Dario Mars... and decided, with Noisy Nuns, to create a more personal project, giving free rein to their instincts.

**International House Leuven** organizes a coffee morning for those of you who like to chat and meet some friendly (new) faces. It's also a good place to ask questions, get answers and find out about what’s happening in Leuven. Our coffee morning is what you make it. So pop in and out whenever you like, see who is there, and say hi! We meet **every two weeks on Friday morning**, usually at the International House Leuven itself although we tour coffee houses occasionally as well. More on that below. Who's "we"? Well it varies a bit, but our regular hosts are IHL staff member, Anna, or Evelyne, one of the IHL volunteers. Generally we're anything between 5 to 20 participants, a nice mix of regulars and new folks. And we have room for more! **The practicalities**: * the coffee morning goes **from 10:30 until noon**. Feel free to pop in and out at any point, no need to stay the entire time if that doesn't suit your own timing * the location of the event will always be up to date on the Meetup event page. * ask the event volunteer to add you to the Whatsapp group so you can keep up to date with venue changes and other last minute things. * walk-ins are very welcome too!
