This interactive **2-hour workshop** is designed especially for newcomers, expats, and internationals living in Flanders. Together, we’ll explore the cultural codes that shape daily life here, drawing on insights from intercultural thinkers like **Geert Hofstede** and **Richard Lewis**. Along the way, we’ll: * Unpack Flemish cultural patterns and communication styles * Explore common stereotypes – are they grounded in reality? * Debunk some persistent historical myths * Share personal experiences of living and working in Flanders * Create a safe space for those “I always wanted to ask, but didn’t dare” questions Whether you’re fresh off the plane or have been here a while, this is your chance to **better understand your environment** – and connect with others on the same journey. **International House Leuven** organizes a coffee morning for those of you who like to chat and meet some friendly (new) faces. It's also a good place to ask questions, get answers and find out about what’s happening in Leuven. Our coffee morning is what you make it. So pop in and out whenever you like, see who is there, and say hi! Other than meeting on Friday mornings every two weeks at the IHL house, for this edition we will meet on a **Saturday every two weeks**, so that those who work during the week have a chance to come! Who's "we"? Well it varies a bit, but this time it will be volunteers from the IH, Zeba and/or Georgi! ​ The practicalities: \- the coffee morning goes for 2 hours\, for the exact time check the event details\. Boulder-what? 🤔 It’s climbing (FR: escalade, le bloc) up to 4.5m high without ropes—and in my case, without much hope! 😂✨ It’s a super fun indoor activity, but be warned: it does require a certain level of physical fitness and/or skill. Are you a parent living in the Leuven area wanting to connect with other parents? This event is made for you! Planning travel with kids can be overwhelming, and often isolating. So Gabi and Javi want to invite you to the IHL to exchange real-life experiences and ideas to help lighten the load. Many families want to travel more, but don’t know where to begin. Hearing from other parents can be the spark they need. When families travel together (or even just plan alongside others), it becomes a richer, more social experience for both parents and kids. Kids make friends. Parents make friends.
