Swiss-China Market Entry
### Building Business Relationships with China: A Strategic Guide for Swiss Professionals
Join Swiss professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives for an interactive meetup inspired by the essential insights from **"Building Business Relationships with China — A Strategic Guide for Swiss Professionals"**. Discover how to navigate **guānxi** (关系), cultural nuances, and practical strategies to succeed in the Chinese market.
#### What You'll Learn & Discuss
* **Market Entry Essentials**: Finding partners via trade fairs (e.g., Canton Fair), targeting city tiers (Tier 1 like Shanghai vs. Tier 2-3 like Chengdu), entry structures (WFOE, JV, CBEC), government roles, and leveraging the China-Switzerland FTA.
* **Building Trust First**: Master **guānxi** through banquets, gifts, and recognizing trust milestones—budget 2-3 visits before contracts. Protect IP with NNN agreements and company chops.
* **Communication Mastery**: Decode "soft no's," save **miànzi** (face), respect hierarchy, and adapt presentations for win-win harmony.
* **Practical Logistics**: Essential apps (WeChat over WhatsApp, Amap over Google Maps), VPNs, payments (Alipay/WeChat Pay), visas, holidays (avoid CNY/Golden Week), and compliance (DSL/PIPL).
* **Swiss Advantages**: Highlight reliability, quality, and long-term thinking—your strongest assets in China.
* **Tools & Checklists**: Pre-outreach prep, first-conversation flows, and cultural bridges (trust before contracts, WeChat over email).
#### Format
* **Expert Talk** (30 min): Key takeaways from the guide.
* **Interactive Workshop** (45 min): Role-play scenarios, Q&A on partner verification, and peer discussions.
* **Networking** (45 min): Share experiences, connect with S-GE/Swiss-Chinese Chamber reps, and exchange WeChat IDs.
#### Who Should Attend
Swiss professionals eyeing China: exporters, startups, SMEs in precision manufacturing, pharma, finance, or tech. No prior experience needed—bring your questions!
**Date/Time**: Friday, March 06, 2026, 6-8 PM CET
**Location**: Coworking Lounge Tessinerplatz, Tessinerplatz 7, 8002 Zürich
**RSVP**: Limited spots—register now to receive a free bilingual checklist and Mandarin toast phrases (干杯 gānbēi!).
**Build lasting guānxi, avoid pitfalls, and unlock China's potential with Swiss precision.** See you there!

* ***The event is inspired*** *by the [Swiss Stammtisch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stammtisch) and Greek village coffeeshops ("[Καφενείο](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafenio)"), once vibrant [community hubs](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=569660528&sxsrf=AM9HkKlXnclaLfgcockKtdr9qHdmD5jaGw:1696060562834&q=greek+%5D(https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=569660528&sxsrf=AM9HkKlXnclaLfgcockKtdr9qHdmD5jaGw:1696060562834&q=greek+)%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%86%CE%B5%CE%BD%CE%B5%CE%B9%CE%BF&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi52fX67dGBAxXnlf0HHZNiBHUQ0pQJegQICRAB&biw=1460&bih=913&dpr=2&udm=2) where people gathered daily. **WHY?** we ❤️ **uniting people** and building **community** while having **fun!** We truly believe that **fun meaningful offline connections** to new & existing friends makes us truly happy and healthy! Our community meets **every 2 Fridays** in a **homey,** caring and **welcoming** "come as you are" environment !
.
**WHAT is this event?** We are not a "party or drinks" meetup, nor we follow a "forced" process and agenda. Instead, we are a **Connection Community** inspired by Greek village cafes and Swiss Stammtisch — a welcoming environment where neighbours gathered as equals to share stories and build lasting friendships. We meet in a "**fixed-rhythm**" every 2 Fridays in a **homey** & **lovingly-hosted space** so you can connect with new and familiar faces. We provide **several optional activities** to help you **connect** with others—so you're free to **explore what resonates** with you! Together these activities create a unique **Connection** **Event.**
.
**HOW? Today's activities** are:
* **new comer area** (never was easier to spark a conversation, with ice-breakers, optional for first time attendees)
* **fun social games** (like "cards against humanity" and more - read game names below)
* **mindful games** (no small talk, connect deeper, from [The School of Life](https://www.theschooloflife.com/shop/?_product_type=games-card-sets) \- read game names below\)
* \*\* 20:00 - 20:30 Speed-friending\*\* (glass room on ground floor) guaranteed process to meet spark new fun discussions and meet new people - with moderator)
* \*\* 20:30 - 21:00\*\* **Team Versus Team Playful games** (glass room on ground floor) to stop being so serious, stop adulthood and be silly !
* \*\* 22:00 - 00:00\*\* **Dance Party** (glass room on ground floor) lets dance the week away with reggaeton & hits
* beautiful **homey** industrial location in downtown ZH
* **German-speaking** area (falls du nur Deutsch sprechen möchtest)
* \*\* chill-zones\*\* in private quiet rooms (if you want to talk or play games in quietness)
* or simply **hang-out** and **meet new & old friends** **without** a process ❤️
.
.
.
**TIPS on how to connect:**
* **Look out for a good smile/vibe** in a person/group of 2-3 people and say "Hi my name is xxx, can I join?".
* **Try something different** (person, game, table, activity) often until you find **fun** **quality connection.** We have a lot of activities
* **Ask** **Support:** we understand going out to meet friends can be a stretch. We make this easy with a fun and safe event. Also you can ask for help from our clearly communicated (see photos of this event) "**People Connectors**" who can help you discreetly to connect with others
* **Invest time**(not quickly just come by) as friendships are an investment
* **Come back**: big turnaround, people come randomly at each event, so you never know who you ll meet
.
.
**.**
**Some final words:**
* **Bravo** **to you** for the courage to go out to meet new people! We know **everyone is unique** \- thats why we got a big new\-comer area\, 4 co\-hosts welcoming and connecting you\, and many activities for you to **choose** from to find what **suits you**!
* **Weather?** Event takes place rain or shine, with indoors rooms and outdoors area that is ultra rain-protected
* **Coming late?** no problem, we got many people until closing at 00:00 so come whenever!
* **Too many attendees?** no problem, we got the space! Also as per the "what" above: you define what makes the event meaningful for you! Furthermore, the co-organisers have one goal: to say hi and introduce you to the event and people (if you want to please ask)! Finally remember: you dont have to talk to everyone, focus in a few people! Less is more! If you dont know where to start look for a good smile or an activity more matching to you. From there keep on trying people and activities..
* **Why so many options above for connection?** We always have: a first-timer area, Fun social games, Mindful games, ice-breaker questions or simply just talk freely to anyone. Often we add: Speed-friending and a Music jam. We believe **you are unique** and each of us prefers different ways of connection. Also we want to provide an opportunity for everyone to try something new
* **Easy and Safe:** We have the whole location reserved for us so its safe to open up and meet new friends (unlike bars in Zürich where people find it strange if strangers talk to them). Christos and volunteers will also help with connection. Read more info below.
* **Christos** (see [PHOTO](https://photos.app.goo.gl/pdtVaVGCyDEJ28uE8)) and our co-organisers will be wearing name budges and will aim to **welcome** **everyone.**
* more info via our **[LINKS](http://linktr.ee/connectionspace)**
* Yes YOU are **good** & **courageous** for looking for new fun connections!
* Everyone is in same situation and you ll be surprised how **friendly people** are ❤️
* Come **early** though **later** also ok as many people there **until 00:00**
* **It works**! We heard of many new friendships, living together and even getting a new job
* **Mindful Connection Games:** from [The School of Life](https://www.theschooloflife.com/shop/?_product_type=games-card-sets) available: Confessions Game, The Friendship Game, Connection Game, The Loser Game, Games for grown-ups and three sets of "100 questions" (Conversation Toolkit & Careers & Relationships)
* **Fun Social Games:** bring your own **board/card games** or choose from: Cards against humanity, Exploding Kittens, Codenames, Debatable, Sotally Tober, Taboo, Mafia, Uno, Monopoly and more.

Fast Friending - Make Meaningful Connections! (25-45/Bring a lady free)
As adults, meeting new people isn’t as easy as it used to be. Between busy schedules and shrinking social circles, it can feel hard to form fresh connections—and while we’re constantly interacting online, it rarely matches the warmth and depth of a real, face-to-face conversation.
That’s where our Fast Friending Evening comes in. It’s all about genuine, in-person connections with like-minded ladies and gents in the city. Just show up, be yourself, and enjoy an evening of effortless conversations and meaningful new connections.
**You will need to buy a ticket for attending -**
[https://zurich7thmar.eventbrite.co.uk](https://zurich7thmar.eventbrite.co.uk)
\*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. It will ask you for your email address but that is only to send you a receipt. You do not need a PayPal account.
TICKETS:-
Early bird - CHF 10
Regular ticket - CHF 15
Cash at the meetup - If you have not purchased your ticket in advance then you can pay CHF 20 per person in cash on the day of the meetup to Neo (Please bring exact change)
'Fast friending' is our fun and quick way to help you make new connections quickly with both ladies and gentlemen. These are people in the age group of 25 and 45 and so you will be on a similar wavelength. Naturally you can always choose who to speak with based on your preference!
Here's how your evening is planned -
**7:00 PM – Welcome**
\- We will meet at 7\.00 pm when you will be welcomed by your host Neo\. She will manage the evening and also help you make connections\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Neo will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
**7:30 – 8:30 PM \| Fast Friending**
\- From 7\.30 to 8\.30 pm\, we will start 'Fast Friending' where our host will ask you to speak to a different attendee every 3 minutes\. You will be able to meet lots of ladies and gentlemen and not be limited to only those sitting or standing next you\.
**After 8:30 PM \| Open Mingling**
\- After 8\.30 pm you will have time to interact with those you have met as well as others\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Neo will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 25 to 45 age group\.
\- Our evenings are not about 'dating' or for 'romantic' connections\. 'Fast friending' is NOT 'Speed dating'\. 'Fast friending' is designed to help members meet other like minded ladies and gents\. It is about new friendships and connections\. Naturally\, new friendships can lead to dating or romantic connections\, but that is not our focus\.
Why do we have tickets?
1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication.
2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved.
3. Management - Tickets help us better manage attendee group size, book suitable space and activity.

Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration!
This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired.
**New to electronics or curious about tinkering?**
You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building.
While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability. This session will be at the Worthington Park Library in the Olentangy Meeting Room.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
**Google Analytics Alternatives**
Is it finally time to make the switch away from Google Analytics? Two-and-a-half years ago Jason Packer asked this question at Columbus Web Analytics Wednesday.
Since then: Google’s Universal Analytics has been sunset, we’ve changed our name to Columbus Data & Analytics Wednesday, and Jason has released two editions of his book “Google Analytics Alternatives”.
Fresh off the release of the 2nd edition of his book, we thought it was time to re-open this conversation. While people love to complain about it, GA’s market share has remained relatively constant (at least in the United States). Why is that? You won’t find any complaints about GA4 in this talk, but rather an overview of what’s currently available in the market and how to frame your decision-making process.
We’ll also be giving out some free copies of Jason’s book! So even if you’ve got a “GA4Lyfe” tattoo (no judgement), there’s free books to go with the free pizza and beer.

If you want to follow along, the demo will be in Azure with GitHub Actions and GitHub Copilot, and you can have it set up on your phone by the end of the session. Just come in with an Azure account and a GitHub repo.
Join us for pizza, drinks, and networking @ Improving's office. Doors open at 5:45.
