This is the same place where we got together every Thursday evening for many years before 2015. Everyone is welcome, but please keep conversation in Russian only. For many of us, this is our only chance to practice our Russian. There are happy hour prices available. Timing: Someone is usually there by 5:30, but it sometimes takes the organizers till 5:45 or so. If you get there first, please wait - we will be there! And people are usually there till at least 8. So if you can't make it right at the beginning, that is perfectly fine to arrive late! RSVP's: I encourage you to RSVP. But please know that many people don't RSVP. So it may seem like only 3 people are planning to attend, but have no fear, we usually have a good-sized fun group! (And we almost always have newcomers. We will begin our new book "French Short Stories volume 2" by Dylane Moreau for the beginner reader. ISBN-10: 1998024121 and ISBN-13: 978-1998024124. Come join us every Wednesday at 8 PM until sometime in April, 2026. This is a collection of short stories in English and French with questions at the end. Then share your ideas for immersing yourself in the French language whether it's listening to music, watching movies, taking a class, or whatever you do. Everyone’s heard of book clubs where the group reads the same thing and gets together to discuss, which is great… if you have time and interest in whatever’s chosen. This is a different type of book club where you bring whatever you’re currently or recently reading (or just a book you’re super excited about) and talk about it with fellow book lovers. We’ll start with people arriving/ordering food between 615-645, then go around and introduce ourselveslves and give a very brief synopsis of what we’re reading and why we’re excited (or not!) about it. Then devolve into informal conversations until people need to head out. The goal Is to create community and connections in a group of strangers - to facilitate this please make sure you have at least a clear first name on your profile. Upside on Moore has a great selection of food you can order from your phone or at the kiosks. There’s also a bar with happy hour, something for everyone! Our Curanderimo Elder Ixtoii Paloma Cervantes will be traveling to Virginia and teaching this in person two day candle magic workshop where you will learn the traditional Curanderismo way of using candles for bringing blessings and healings. You will learn how to prepare them, how to use them to manifest what you want in life, how to see if they are working or not, and how to read them in the Curanderismo ways. It's the first Thursday of the month, and that means we will be replaying a game we played recently. This time it's **Trains**! **Trains** is a deck-building game with route-building and hand management. Set in Japan, players manage a private railway company striving to become bigger and better than the competition. You will start with a small set of cards, but by building a more effective deck throughout the game, you will be able to place stations and lay rails over the map. The trick is to purchase the cards you want to use, then use them as effectively as possible. Gain enough points from your railways, and you will ultimately manage the most powerful railroads in modern Japan! We only have one copy of Trains, which can accommodate 4 players. So if we get more than 4 RSVPs, we will play additional train-related games. If you have a copy of Trains, let us know, and we will prepare accordingly.

This is part 2 of our discussion series on Infinite Jest. Participation in part 1 is not a requirement, anyone is welcome to join in. This meeting will be dedicated to talking about the first 620 pages of Infinite Jest. We will be reading up until "(Mid November, YDAU) - WYYY Engineer goes sunning" We will also be discussing 2 of David Foster Wallaces essays. These are "Shipping Out" (aka A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again) and "Tense Present". They are not mandatory but reading these is highly encouraged. Feel free to read ahead but the discussion will only cover up until this point. This will be the second of four meetings planned for Infinite Jest. These meetings will be scheduled monthly.
