London Fields Loafing
London Fields Loafing
We'll meet at Five Points, where they have a courtyard and serve food (61 Mare St, E8 4RG). Then onto Saint Monday (4 Warburton Rd, E8 3RR)-dark and brooding, but with a small courtyard. Having stocked up at an off license or at the two breweries, we'll sit in London Fields and watch the world go by. Feel free to bring a blanket, cool bag, nibbles - whatever you like! We may finish off at The Spurstowe Arms (68 Greenwood Rd, E8 1AB), where they serve cracking pizza and have a beer garden (the beers are...ok), or at The Dove (24-28 Broadway Market, E8 4QJ). Pray for sunshine : )

The South Bank, The Globe & The Mayflower – 4th July Urban Wander & Pub Crawl
The South Bank, The Globe & The Mayflower – 4th July Urban Wander & Pub Crawl
Walk length 5miles/8km approx. Linear. A chance to celebrate American Independence Day with a short wander along the South Bank past a number of iconic sites associated with the United States. Some of the sites we pass include the Globe Theatre a fantastic recreation of Shakespeare's original tudor Globe located close to the original playhouse and largely the inspiration of the American actor Sam Wanamaker. We can stop for a mid walk drink at the George Pub, the only remaining galleried pub/coaching inn left in London dating back to 1677, close by is the site of the Queen’s Head Tavern once owned by John Harvard, the sale of the Tavern went to fund the now very famous Harvard University at Boston. We can visit the historic Mayflower pub, named after the Pilgrim fathers that left Rotherhithe for America in 1620. The end of the walk is close to Rotherhithe station and a short work to Bermondsey station for a final drink/food. Cost: £4 cash payable on the day (payable to colin45@hotmail.co.uk, please send as friends and family to avoid charges) (guided walk & meetup costs) the host is a qualified London guide). Meeting Meet close to the steps of the Golden Jubilee Bridges opposite Strada and Foyles on the Southbank of the Thames from 2.45pm for the walk to start at 3.00pm (see photo above). See Transport for London (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/) Please keep your 'RSVP' updated for this event as it would help me get accurate numbers, and determine who is turning up for the walk; my phone number is Colin 07709 305681. Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You should wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking shoes, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water. Please see our Terms and Conditions (http://www.meetup.com/London-Explorers/pages/Terms_and_Conditions/)

July 4th ft. The Mayflower
July 4th ft. The Mayflower
**7.00 -** **The Ship, 39/47 St. Marychurch Street, SE16 4JE** **8.00/8.15 - The Mayflower, 117 Rotherhithe Street,** **SE16 4NF** **9.45/10.00 - The Brunel, 47 Swan Road,** **SE16 4JN** As it's not just any old July 4th, but the 250th, I thought we'd take in a bit of history and pay a visit to where it all began. The Mayflower is named after the ship chartered by the Pilgrim Fathers for their voyage to the New World in 1620. It left from nearby moorings that are apparently still visible at low tide, although the pub itself dates from 1780. The Mayflower will be the main feature but we'll be starting at The Ship, 39/47 St. Marychurch Street, SE16 4JE - [The Ship](https://shiprotherhithe.co.uk/) \- which is just a short walk from Rotherhithe station on the London Overground network\. Turn right as you leave the station and walk around 200 hundred yards down Brunel Road \- past Hatteraick Road and a couple of small side streets \- then turn right into Rupack Street and you'll see the pub straight ahead of you\. Rotherhithe is one stop from Canada Water (Jubilee line) or three stops from Whitechapel (Elizabeth line). From Canada Water you want the front of the train and from Whitechapel you want the back of the train. You won't be able to get to Whitechapel using the District or Hammersmith & City lines on this date. As the travelling will be a bit more challenging than normal for some of us, I have put up slightly earlier starting and finishing times so there's a bit more leeway to get home at the end of the night. The plan is to move on to The Mayflower, 117 Rotherhithe Street, SE16 4NF - [The Mayflower](https://www.mayflowerpub.co.uk/) \- at around 8\.00/8\.15 and then The Brunel\, 47 Swan Road\, SE16 4JN \- [Home - Star Pubs](https://www.brunel-rotherhithe.co.uk/) \- at around 9\.45/10\.00\. The Brunel is open until 1am\. All of the pubs have outside areas, so that's where we'll be if the weather's fine. As ever, we may do things differently on the night. Please take a note of my number - 07761-816862 - so that you can phone me if you can't find us **(but no texts or messaging please)**.

FREE Social Walk, Games & Pub Trip | Greenwich Park
**Another Summer weekend. And to make the most of the warmer weather - we've got your Sunday sorted again with our next Social Walk and Pub trip, exclusively for 20s and 30s.** And for this latest Sunday walk, we’ll be visiting one of the most popular walking spots in the city, **Greenwich Park 🌳** As always, before heading off on the hike, you'll be allocated a group/team for an initial mix of fun and light-hearted games to help break the ice and help you get to know your fellow walkers a little better. After the games and everyone is warmed up for walk, we’ll then set off on our 2-3 hour hike across East London 🥾 From the green bushy pastures of Blackheath, we will wander into Greenwich Park taking in some of the most famous views overlooking London and the Old Royal Observatory along the way. We will then venture past the historic sailing ship, the Cutty Sark, through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel and along the canals of the Isle of Dogs to Canary Wharf. When we've reached Canary Wharf, we will then finish up at a pub nearby where you can grab a drink and get to know your fellow hikers a bit better 🍻 As always, owing to the size of the venue, we will be having to cap numbers for this event, and so do make sure you nab your place as soon as you can! **\- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \-** **WHERE/WHEN WE WILL MEET** Meet Point - On the grass opposite the All Saints Church, All Saints Dr, Blackheath, London SE3 0TJ ([https://maps.app.goo.gl/RHaV8LUNJ521baVL7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/RHaV8LUNJ521baVL7)) Closest stations: Blackheath (5 mins walk) Destination: Brewdog Canary Wharf Meet Time - 2:00pm Finish time: 5:00pm Pub Finish time: 7:00pm-8:30pm (Approx) **\- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \-** **JOIN THE COMMUNITY** Set up in November 2021, the project was set up to help young adults meet, connect and hopefully build life-long friendships. To help make this happen, we also host all kinds of events from free social walks, games evenings, day trips, social events, activity nights to picnics. I have a table reserved on deck (usually this is the first table on your right as you walk down the ramp onto the boat , but if you can't find me please ask a member of staff .) . PLEASE NOTE that this event begins at 8 pm - **arrive before** **9 pm to avoid paying an entrance fee directly to the venue** , as well as to me . THE BOAT MAY START CHARGING AFTER 9 PM . Lots of restroom trucks, too. **COST**: Purchase discount tickets now for only $20 ($30 general admission - age 10+ or $20 Seniors at the gate). Tickets are non-refundable. Shuttles begin each day one hour before the festival opens, and continue until one hour after the festival closes. **MUSIC**: This festival has variety, no matter your taste. I like evenings by the Celtic Rock stage because they have Irish Dancers, folk rock and solid celtic rock each evening. Please feel free to go early and wander to catch all the other cultural venues. **BRING**: Lawn chair or blanket. No coolers. Bags are inspected by security at Fest entrances. Most vendors accept cash or charge. **WEAR**: Summer Fest wear - nice t-shirt & shorts, comfy shoes (fest is on 38 acres of grass, trails and sidewalks). **NEWBIES**: This event is very freeform so I would suggest coming along with a buddy as members will be coming and going from our circle.
