Introductory meeting again, for Through Our Lens - photography group!
Because of request from members who were **not able to take part in the last session,** we decided to have another introduction session **again**.
Warm welcome to our new photography group introduction session!
IMPORTANT: Spots are limited to ensure a comfortable group size, make sure to reserve yours!
Through Our Lens is a community-focused photography series combining empowerment photography, identity exploration, and creative storytelling. Using only everyday mobile phones, participants learn to notice, capture, and express their personal experiences through images.
The project aims to:
* Create meaningful social connections.
* Strengthen cross-cultural understanding
* Support integration through shared creative expression
* Empower migrants and refugees to tell their own stories
* Build community through participatory arts practices
Grounded in the principles of empowerment photography, the project centres participants as authors of their own narratives.
Through workshops, storytelling exercises, and a community exhibition, participants reflect on their daily life, belonging, hopes, roots, identities, and experiences of belonging.
Finally, with the help of reflective sharing circles, and a small exhibition, participants share these themes with other participants and to the public.
WHEN:
The group will begin with two introductory meetings on 27th of January and 3rd of February, and continue until mid-March. In between the meetings, there will be individual work based on the prompts presented during the groups. Registration is mandatory for all the events.

Sahaja Yoga meditation course in English
Welcome to join our Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings in English! The meetings are free of charge and you can just show up. The group consists of people of different ages and nationalities who have been meditating different periods of time. Newcomers are welcome at any time. We normally sit on chairs or on pillows on the floor, so there is no need to bring a mat and you can wear normal clothes.
Meditation means mental silence or thoughtless awareness. You are present here and now, but your mind is not bombarded by thoughts from the past or the future. In this state, you feel peace and joy, which are the essential elements of the present moment. With regular practice of meditation, it is possible to establish this state within us.
The group is lead by volunteers who are experienced and can offer guidance to get you started. We give a short introduction to the meditation and after that we do meditation exercises. We also give tips on how to meditate at home. After the meditation class, we have a cup of tea and there is time for questions.
Welcome! We hope to see you in our meditation meetings!

Board Games at Arkade (Thursday)
Pay the **5 € board gaming fee** to the bar at the counter when you arrive. You must be at least 18 years old to enter [Arkade](https://www.arkade.fi/). We play in English and the game rules are taught before starting play, unless everyone is already familiar with the game. No previous experience with board gaming required.
The venue has a great board game library, the host and other players usually bring their own games too: our selection varies weekly. We're a very casual group so you're welcome to arrive early or late and join whatever game is starting up, there is no attendance tracking, or welcoming process.
The bar has alcoholic drinks, mocktails, and soft drinks available as well as some snack foods. They've been okay with people ordering food to the bar with meal delivery services.
If you are feeling sick, please stay home.
After Work - Founder (& aspiring) networking
Laid back get together to network and exchange over a couple of drinks.

Come share your best (or worst) comedic mishaps, stories, and gossip in a relaxed, conversational meetup at **Kallio Bar** (right next to Street Bar) in Hakaniemi, Helsinki.
Beers from **€6.50** 🍺, wine bottles **€25** 🍾 — and there will very likely be extra discounts 😉
Later in the evening, we might head to a nightclub or karaoke together 🤗
Hope to see you there!

"Quality depends on why a product or a feature is being built.
In this talk, I’ll share a product manager’s perspective on how quality work differs during the different phases of product creation.
This is not a framework or a science talk. It’s a set of product-driven insights and trade-offs intended to help QA professionals better support their product partners with the right focus at the right time.
* Talk 2 - "GenAI infuses testing at ISTQB " how about that? by [Kari Kakkonen](https://www.linkedin.com/in/karikakkonen/)
"GenAI helps testing in almost all tasks that a tester has. Here we talk about some highlights from the popular ISTQB Testing with GenAI course, and how it was developed "

Who's Afraid of Determinism?
A philosophy meetup on freedom, necessity, and responsibility
Is everything that happens inevitable? If our actions are determined by prior causes—biology, upbringing, laws of nature—what becomes of free will, moral responsibility, praise and blame? And if determinism is true, should we be afraid of it at all?
In this meetup we’ll tackle determinism from multiple angles:
Hard determinism: if determinism is true, free will is an illusion.
Libertarianism: genuine freedom requires indeterminism.
Compatibilism: freedom and determinism can coexist.
We’ll discuss classic thought experiments (Frankfurt cases, Laplace’s demon), contemporary worries about agency and accountability, and the existential stakes: guilt, meaning, and self-understanding in a determined world.
Format:
A short introduction to frame the problem, followed by guided small-group discussion and a plenary debate. No prior expertise required—come curious, skeptical, or ready to defend a position (even one you don’t fully believe).
Guiding questions:
If determinism is true, could you have done otherwise?
Do responsibility and punishment still make sense?
Is fear of determinism philosophical—or psychological?
Which view actually fits our lived experience?
All are welcome. Bring your arguments—and your anxieties.

AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event.
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-development-risk-case-studies-and-how-agentic-ai-is-the-future-of-appsec-tickets-1981450622150?aff=oddtdtcreator
AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application security—autonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development
Chaos Monkeys, Open Telemetry, and .NET Aspire: Taming Complexity in Modern Apps
**Chaos Monkeys, Open Telemetry, and .NET Aspire: Taming Complexity in Modern Apps**
.NET Aspire is far more than just a sleek dashboard for wowing your boss and co-workers. It's also a gateway to increased observability with open telemetry, better fault tolerance to fend off chaos monkeys, and a drastically improved onboarding experience for new developers.
This session will explore Microsoft's latest guidance for building distributed, cloud-first applications, with practical strategies for enhancing simpler existing apps. You'll discover the inner workings of Aspire, from installation to customization, and learn how it streamlines integration with performance boosters like Redis. Most importantly, you'll see why scalable microservices architectures can be challenging—and how Aspire helps simplify the journey.
**Presenter:** Lee Richardson, Microsoft MVP
**Pizza starts at 6. Presentation starts around 6:30.**
Columbus Code & Coffee 83 @ Improving

* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
