What's new in WordPress 7.0?
The WordPress Helsinki meetup group aims to bring people together of all skill levels, from beginners to WordPress professionals. WordPress Helsinki is purely organised by community volunteers, and operates under the WordPress code of conduct.
This month, we welcome Vladimir Melnychenko to speak about WordPress 7.0 update.
WordPress 7.0 is just around the corner, with its official release scheduled for April 9, 2026 (and then moved). In this meetup, we’ll take a first look at what WordPress 7.0 brings to the ecosystem. Together, we’ll explore the most important new features, improvements to the block editor and site editing experience, performance enhancements, and updates that developers, designers, and content creators should know about. We’ll also discuss what these changes mean for existing sites, themes, and plugins.
Vladimir is a WordPress enthusiast. He was raised in Ukraine, and now lives in Finland. He got acquainted with WordPress in 2012 as a technical support representative and has been in love with it ever since. Vladimir works at Valve One as a WordPress developer, building various websites, and he believes that the best website is the one that is constantly improving.
See you there!

Ideation session for autumn 2026
Do you have an event or workshop idea that you want to see come to life? Do you miss some activities at Luckan? Or do you want to practice your pitching and presenting skills? Then join us at Luckan Integration for our ideation session for autumn 2026!
The ideation session is a chance to express your wishes and to suggest what events you would like to attend. You can come with a ready-planned event idea that you would like to host yourself and pitch the idea to us. You can also just come and share your ideas without preparing in advance.
We will collaboratively decide on the ideas that we want to make happen! As a result of the ideation session, Luckan Integration will take all ideas into consideration. We can also offer some participants to host Pop-Up Mondays or to get involved in other forms of collaboration as volunteers.
Event ideas have to follow Luckan Integration’s values and strategy:
\- focus on Swedish integration
\- networking and building bridges across diverse backgrounds
\- information and promoting employment and education
\- equality\, openness\, respect
We will offer light snacks and coffee/tea. The event is in English.

Board Games at Arkade (Thursday)
Pay the **5 € board gaming fee** to the bar at the counter when you arrive. You must be at least 18 years old to enter [Arkade](https://www.arkade.fi/). We play in English and the game rules are taught before starting play, unless everyone is already familiar with the game. No previous experience with board gaming required. Despite our RSVP numbers here on Meetup, we almost always have at least 20 people participating weekly.
The venue has a great board game library, the host and other players usually bring their own games too: our selection varies weekly. We're a very casual group so you're welcome to arrive early or late and join whatever game is starting up, there is no attendance tracking, or welcoming process.
The bar has alcoholic drinks, mocktails, and soft drinks available as well as some snack foods. They've been okay with people ordering food to the bar with meal delivery services.
If you are feeling sick, please stay home.
Mafia game
Let's play Mafia together!
Locations: Oodi library, Group room #8 (2nd floor).
Mafia is a role playing social deduction game. People sit around the table, and are secretly assigned a role. The role divides them in two teams:
\- Mafia \(minority\)
\- Citizens \(uninformed majority\)\.
Members in the Mafia team know each other, but the citizens don't. You are not allowed to reveal your role in any way.
Each turn consists of a night time and day time.
During the night:
The Mafia team secretly "kills" one member of the Citizens.
Players with special roles (detailed below) secretly use their ability.
During the day:
Everyone presents their opinions on who they think are in the Mafia team, or present arguments as to why they are not in the Mafia team if they have been accused.
Vote for those players you think are in the Mafia team - those who get a majority vote (>= 50%) will get a chance to present their defense.
Vote to "eliminate" 1 person in the defense - the accused will not be eliminated if there are no votes or gets <50% of the votes.
The game continues until either the Citizens eliminate all Mafia members, or the Mafia becomes the majority.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Most of the people at our event have experience playing the game. But we are glad to meet new people, and will be happy to briefly introduce you to the game rules and players' strategies if you decide to come.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Special roles at our game party:
Doctor (Citizen team):
At each night, you can save a player who you think the Mafia team has killed. That player cannot be killed by the Mafia team that night, and the Mafia do not know who you saved. You can save yourself once.
Detective (Citizen team):
At each night, you can point to a player you think is in the Mafia and the narrator will show thumbs up if they are in the Mafia team. You can not detect the Godfather.
Sniper/Professional (Citizen team):
Each night, you could either choose to kill someone you think is in the Mafia, or not shoot. You have only two bullets. If you select a citizen to shoot, you go out of the game yourself, but that citizen is still in the game.
Constantine (Citizen team):
During the night, you can bring back one dead person to life. This can be used only once per game.
Matador (Mafia team):
Each night, you can diffuse someone's special ability. You can not diffuse the same person two nights in a row.
Godfather (Mafia team):
You're the head of the Mafia. The detective can not detect you.
Terrorist (Mafia team):
During the day, you can reveal your character, and choose to kill yourself and another player. The latest time you can do this is during when someone (e.g. you) are presenting their defense. The person you kill with yourself cannot be resurrected by Constantine

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.

* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
* Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool.
After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
Building Momentum: From Ambiguity to Execution
**Building a great product is one thing—building momentum behind it is another.**
Join **Senior Product Manager Adam Solaiman** and **User Experience Manager Tyson Smith** for a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to turn complex ideas into scalable products inside large organizations.
In this session, they’ll share how teams move from ambiguity to execution—navigating organizational complexity, aligning stakeholders, and continuously evolving products after launch.
You’ll walk away with insights on how to:
* Build and sustain momentum across teams
* Adapt to changing priorities without losing direction
* Scale products thoughtfully in complex environments
Whether you're driving a new initiative or growing an existing product, this conversation will give you practical strategies to keep things moving forward.
Come connect, learn, and swap stories with fellow product professionals.
