AI at scale hosted by Zalando
17:30-18:00
* Doors open
* Welcome words by Zalando & WiMLDS
18:00- 18:40
**'Deploying AI agents at scale'** by **Valentina Halasi**
**Abstract:**
You've built AI agents with a framework like CrewAI or LangGraph. They work great locally. Now what?
This talk covers the real infrastructure challenges of deploying multi-agent systems: handling long-running executions, managing stateful workflows, versioning deployments, and debugging complex agent behavior in production. Learn the steps from "works on my laptop" to production-ready, and discover why most teams end up building the same infrastructure stack.
I'll wrap up with a live demo showing how to deploy agents with a single command, stream execution in real-time, manage secrets securely, auto-scale to handle concurrent runs, and version deployments with instant rollbacks, without building the full infrastructure yourself.

**'AI at scale in practice: Zalando Assistant'** by **Katya Mirylenka**
**Abstract:**
As artificial intelligence transforms the fashion industry, multimodal AI agents are stepping up to deliver deeply personalized shopping experiences. Using the Zalando Assistant (ZA) as a real-world case study, this talk dives into the practicalities of building and operating these complex systems at scale. We will explore why the e-commerce industry is moving beyond simple chatbots to sophisticated LLM-powered agents and how ZA processes complex user interactions to elevate the customer journey. Finally, we will unpack the behind-the-scenes technical hurdles of large-scale AI, including optimizing search and retrieval under heavy load, refining LLM evaluations, and handling complex product data.

Dies ist ein informelles Treffen für Lernende, die ihre ersten Schritte in der Programmierung machen oder ihre Grundkenntnisse vertiefen möchten.
***
This is an informal meetup, for learners that want to do their first steps in programming or want to consolidate their skills.
We spend one hour and a half working on tutorials, exercises or projects. If you need help to get started, we will help you finding a good way for learning.
You should be prepared to spend your time "doing things": just hanging around and listening might get boring, if all other people are learning on their side.
There are experienced people are around and you can ask questions as soon as their arise or bring with you questions you have had during the week.
During the last half an hour, we do a (simple) exercise together.

From Reading to Recommending - an Introduction to NarraLune by Stefanie Wedel
As a lifelong bookworm and serial note-taker, our speaker Stefanie spent years collecting insights from literary podcasts, magazine previews, and personal reading lists. Things got even more interesting with the discovery of reading challenges, such as *“read a book with over 500 pages”* or *“a book featuring magical creatures that aren’t dragons.”*
The result of trying to organize all of this? **NarraLune** — a Python-based application designed to connect a curated book database with an intelligent matching framework.
In this talk, we’ll explore how NarraLune:
* Uses structured SQL filtering to manage and query book data
* Applies genre inference to enrich metadata
* Integrates generative language models to recommend books for diverse and creative challenge prompts
Stefanie will walk us through the concept and architecture of the system, share practical insights into Python and AI integration, and reflect on how personal interests can evolve into meaningful technical projects.
No coding knowledge is required to follow the talk
This meetup will take place in the reading room (Lesesaal) of Zentralbibliothek Zürich.
**Agenda**
18:00 Arrival
18:15 Talk and discussion
19:15 Wrap up
All genders welcome!
We expect all participants of our meetup to abide by the PyLadies code of conduct: [http://www.pyladies.com/CodeOfConduct/](http://www.pyladies.com/CodeOfConduct/)

**19:10 - Networking & Apéro**🍷- Grab a bite and chat with old and new friends
**Talk Details:**
**Beyond the Buzzword: A Data-Driven Analysis of LLM-Generated Code Vulnerabilities (Working Title, may change):**
Can LLMs write more secure code than humans? Or are they better security reviewers? In this talk we discuss what data and measurements are needed to answer these questions. We will take a sceptical look at marketing claims regarding LLM benchmarks, describe attempts to define "secure code", and describe research measuring secure code generation. By the end of this talk you will be able to take a clear-eyed view of any benchmarks and claims that LLMs generate secure code.
**Swiss e-ID, Architecture and overcoming practical issues (Working Titel and working Abstract, will change):**
The Swiss e-ID, planned for release in late 2026, is based on decentralized identity (SSI) standards, offering strong security and privacy properties in theory. This talk provides a practical look at the e-ID, its ecosystem, and underlying standards, drawing on insights from a real-world project. We will assess its suitability for use cases such as identity verification and digital authentication, and discuss how it fits with existing identity and access management architectures and protocols. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of the ecosystem, security and privacy challenges, and practical considerations for applying the Swiss e-ID in real-world systems.

From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way.
