This is a language exchange event for those who want to learn or practice French, German, English, Luxembourgish or any other language you find an interlocutor for. Especially in Luxembourg, speaking multiple languages is an essential skill. The journey of learning a language is a discovery road in which it is great to meet advantaged/native speakers and language learners with who you can practice your listening and speaking skills. Hello Friends! The last hike before Christmas will take us to the south of our country. As part of the former mining area, we will see some remains from that era in the forest, like posts from cable cars for iron ore transport. We will start in Schifflange at the train station and find our way to the "Nature Reserve Brucherbierg-Lalléngerbierg". We will take a path with a great view over the valley before we cross over a road into the forest that will finally take us to Esch. We will take a few short breaks to have a sip of water, and after 8 km, we do a short Glühwein break, in the "Maison Rosati", a gem in the forest for breaks like this. The break will be no longer than 20 minutes because we need to continue towards the final Bratwurst destination! In case the weather is bad, we're awfully tired, or someone forgot to bring Glühwein, we can shorten the hike to anything like 9, 10, or 12km, because the house is located at the furthest point and we can skip it (and the break) to get earlier to our Gromperekichelcher! **Meeting Point:** We will meet at the Schifflange train station and start the hike shortly after the train arrives. https://maps.app.goo.gl/6nZ4fqoTXSUmtsnw8 **Public Transport:** * You can take Train RB 6711 from Luxembourg "Gare Centrale", leaving at 11:00 towards "Rodange". Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
