We are very happy to announce our speaker **Prof. Grégoire Montavon**, who is a Professor at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin at the Institute of AI in medicine (IKIM) and a Research Group Lead in the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD). He received a Master's degree in Communication Systems from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 2009 and a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from the Technische Universität Berlin in 2013. His research focuses on methods and applications of Explainable AI (XAI). A particular goal is to develop approaches that integrate well with state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) models used in medical diagnosis and research, so that these models can be verified and explored for insights. **His talk´s title is:** **Tackling Imperfect Data Environments via Robust and Explainable AI** **Abstract:** In this talk, I will present novel techniques for learning in imperfect data environments, specifically addressing challenges such as mislabeling and spurious correlations. **🎬 Screenwriters' Meetup Invitation 🎬** This meetup is for anyone passionate about storytelling—whether you’re a screenwriter, filmmaker, producer, or someone with a great idea looking for the right collaborators. This Sunday (May 3) at 15:00, we’re back at Workish for our next Screenwriting Focus Group—and this time it’s all about getting creative. We’re doing a creative writing session. In the first part, we’ll just jump in and improvise—write a scene, a short text, sketch a story idea… whatever feels right to you. Then we’ll share what we’ve created, read it out loud, and talk about it together. It’s all about trying things out, getting inspired, and seeing where the ideas take us. This group is for everyone who is interested in drawing portraits! For me, drawing has been a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on the world and the people within it. Whether you are just starting out or have been drawing for ages — all levels are welcome :) How it works: 1\. We meet at The Castle pub in Mitte and do short sittings of 15 minutes for each other\. The first sitting is divided into 3 warm\-up sketches\, 5 minutes each\. 2\. Before we start\, everybody writes their name on a blank card \(provided by the organizer\); these cards are then used to randomly pick the model every 15 minutes\. 3\. Usually we do 8 sittings\, with a 15\-minute break in the middle \(so after 4 sittings\, or 1 hour\)\. -> The participation is free, but it is expected that everybody orders something from the bar to support the lovely location. Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
