ðð§ Trivia Night @ Stout Irish Pub. Accessible venue (except washrooms)
ðð§ **Trivia Night @ Stout Irish Pub**
Looking for a **Monday night out** thatâs social, low-pressure, and actually fun? Trivia at **Stout Irish Pub** is one of those rare events where you can **laugh, drink, shout incorrect answers with confidence**, and still have a great time.
You do **not** need to be a trivia genius. You just need a sense of humour, a willingness to guess wildly, and the ability to say, *âWait⊠I think Iâve heard this before?â* This is very much a **team effort**, and honestly, half the fun is the group debate over answers we are *definitely wrong about*.
Stout Irish Pub brings the cozy pub vibes, solid food and drinks, and a trivia crowd thatâs friendly, lively, and never too serious about it. Whether youâre competitive or just there for the laughs, youâll fit right in.
ð About the Event
**Meetup Time:** 6:30pm â just **ask for Colleenâs group** when you arrive!
**Trivia Starts:** **7:00 PM** and runs until around **9:30 P**M
Expect a lively mix of **pop culture, history, music, sports, and random fun question.** Whether you come solo or bring a friend, weâll make sure everyoneâs part of a team. ð§©ð¬
ðž Cost & Policy
Everyone must spend at least **$10 (plus tax & tip)** at the pub.
**NEW POLICY:**
* ð *First-timers* must send a **$5 deposit** by e-transfer to \*\*[tommills@rogers.com**](http://tommills@rogers.com%2A%2A/) and message Colleen right away on this page or the sign-up page.
* ð There will be a **$1 reminder charge** if you donât send the deposit promptly, for each reminder.
* ð¥ You may bring **1 guest**, but please e-transfer **$10** in advance. Youâll be refunded once your guest arrives.
\#\#\# ð§ Why Youâll Love It
Trivia night isnât just about questions â itâs about **connection, laughter, and teamwork**. Come test your wits, cheer on your tablemates, and enjoy the buzz of a pub full of friendly faces. Whether youâre a trivia pro or just in it for the fun, itâs always a great time!

â ïž Notes
* Please donât just âshow upâ without RSVPing â seating is limited, and teams need to be balanced.
* Occasionally, the organizer may need to rearrange teams if one is *too stacked* (e.g., all the sports or music experts together!).
* Sometimes things happen â events can be canceled or adjusted, so keep an eye out for updates.

FREE Spanish, English, and French Oral Conversational Class 4 Adults
\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\*
\***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $15 and $35 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\*
These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. The classes are primarily oral-based through guided conversations. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson. Call (647)787-9953, e-mail us info@monkeylingo.ca, or visit monkeylingo.ca for more information! **Online and private classes are also available!**
No other language classes are as conversational as these ones. We guarantee it! Cheap parking can be found using the "Spot Hero" app.

Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Letâs do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Hereâs how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and sheâd like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jenniferâs laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If youâre feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone elseâs project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/Da9fZFxPfs
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We donât allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.

RSVP open: 5:00 PM (Saturday after previous event)
RSVP cancel deadline: Saturday, 12:30 PM (day of the event)
RSVP close: Saturday, 1:30 PM (day of the event)

6:15 PM - 7:00 PM - English half [or Japanese]
Event Description
* This is an in-person language exchange! Members are placed into groups of three or four based on their language level. Each 45 minute session consists of friendly casual conversation, and/or informal study.
Event Location: Atrium Food Court
* The food court is directly connected to the Dundas subway station, although it is a bit difficult to find. Especially for those who will join our event for the first time, we recommend the following directions,
1. Leave the subway station and walk west for about three minutes along Dundas Street.
2. At the intersection of Bay Street and Dundas Street, you will find an entrance. Proceed down the escalator.
3. The food court is on the basement floor. Please talk to the organizer with the signboard showing TJEX. (If you canât find them, please send a message to the organizer.)
â ïžRSVP & Late Policy
* Failure to show, arriving after 5:45 PM (15 minutes late), and cancelling after 1:00 PM on the day of the event all constitute a "no-show". Members are removed from the group after their third no-show.
* If you are running late, please ensure you send a message to the organizer so we can keep a spot open for you. We will rearrange the groups for members who show up on time. If you show up late without letting us know, we will no longer allow you to join so please be mindful of the time.
Waiting List:
Members can join the waiting list if an event is full. In case a spot becomes available, it will be automatically assigned to a member on the waitlist on a first-come first-serve basis.
PLEASE BE ADVISED:
Members from the âWaitingâ list are moved automatically to the âGoingâ list by the system when a spot opens up. You may or may not get a notification from Meetup when this happens. So only sign up on the âWaiting listâ for an event if you are sure you can come for it. If the system automatically puts you on the âGoingâ list and you don't show up to the event, you will receive a strike.

ð» Techalicious New Year Meet & Greet
Hey there! Techalicious is kicking off 2025 with a casual hangout at a local pub. No agenda, no presentations - just grab a drink and meet some fellow tech enthusiasts.
New year, new projects, new rabbit holes to fall into. This is a great chance to chat about what you're working on, what's on your tech radar for 2025, or just geek out over whatever's on your mind. AI has been a hot topic in the group - whether you're experimenting with local LLMs, playing with image generators, or just trying to make sense of the hype - we'd love to hear what you think.
Whether you're into AI, coding, Linux, self-hosting, or just tech in general - you're in the right place. All skill levels welcome.
See you there - let's kick off the year right!

Humanist Program
Our January program is privileged to have Kristen Tregar as our speaker. Ms. Tregar is the co-author with John de Lancie (the actor who portrayed the character Q on Star Trek next generation) of a radio play depicting the events surrounding the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District trial. The trial decided the issue of some of the Dover school district board members attempting to insert creationism disguised as "intelligent design" into the 9th grade biology curriculum. She will discuss the trial and the process of writing the play. (Bob Leonhard has seen the play and it is riveting and tense). Ms. Tregar's bio is below:
Kristen Tregar is a dramaturg, director, playwright, and theatre teacher. She earned her Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre from the UC San Diego and UC Irvine joint program. In addition, she has a MS in Forensic Science from City University of New York- John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University- Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In 2013, in collaboration with Irish colleagues, she founded *The Ireland Project*, an intercontinental devised theatre work with high school students in New York and Tallaght, Ireland. Her original short story "Far From Here" was recently published in *Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes From Temecula Valley*. She has two rescued dogs (Kira and Harry) and she rides, competes, and foxhunts with her horses, Andromache and Baker Street Irregular.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 â 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process.
Fast track
⢠Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell).
⢠Show up and try it out.
⢠Complete application, etc. later.
Normal process
⢠Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/).
⢠Attend orientation in advance.
⢠At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility.
⢠Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM.
⢠Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895).
The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
