The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

This location is one of our favourite spots for knitting. The cake selection is great, the food is delicious & it is bright enough for our needs. The only downside is the sometimes limited numbers of seats. (So to give those on the waiting list a chance to participate, please decline again, if you can't make it, even when it's short-term)

Life-drawing on the first and third Saturday morning in the month held in my studio in the Rhinower Str 10. One hour of short poses ( the length of a song from an eclectic playlist) a 20 minute or so break while we look at the work and compare techniques and exchange tips on materials while drinking a well-earned tea or coffee with a freshly-baked muffin, then another hour of drawing. In the second half, for those who wish I also roll up a plate with ink to monoprint direct from the model. You will go home with a lot of drawings and prints, new ideas and some new techniques. A perfect way to kick off the weekend!! Cost 30€. Bring your own drawing materials. I supply ink, palettes, water jars and rags. Beginners very welcome!!

We run beginner-friendly and intermediate-level games throughout the afternoon and evening. **Friendly newcomers of all skill levels are welcome, no experience required!** Our group aims to provide a fun and welcoming space to experience this thrilling game of social deception. **We focus on promoting a positive and fun group atmosphere, where players don’t take themselves or the game too seriously, whether they’re heroically winning or spectacularly losing.** Our players follow the code of conduct for the Berlin Board Gamers group and are expected to treat each other with respect and consideration – “killing with grace, and dying with dignity”.
