SELBST.BEWUSST.AUFTRETEN - Present Yourself with Confidence
Do you love working on your personal growth to bring out the very best in yourself? Is your German level at B1 or higher? Then you are more than welcome to join my upcoming workshop! In a small and supportive group, we will track down the obstacles that still prevent you from shining. You will learn to set clear boundaries and defend yourself with confidence in challenging situations against intrusive or demeaning behavior. This workshop is held in German. But if necessary, some important information can be given in English, too. **Registration/ Anmeldung** in Meet-Up oder direkt im Nachbarschaftszentrum 15, **+43 1 512 36 61 3500** **nbz15@wiener.hilfswerk.at**

Sense. Breathe. Return to yourself. Due to the strong interest and warm response to the first workshop, this session is returning. In a world of speed, multitasking, and constant stimulation, true presence becomes a rare and powerful skill. This interactive workshop offers a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and understand how mindfulness and meditation transforms your brain, your communication, and your moment-to-moment experience. Through a blend of neuroscience, mindfulness tools, introspection, pair- and group activities, we explore how the brain, body, and nervous system shape the way we feel, interact, and respond. You’ll learn how posture, breath, emotional signals, and internal narratives influence communication – and how mindful presence can shift everything. You’ll explore: ● The neuroscience of mindfulness, meditation and self-awareness. ● How feelings, needs, and body sensations shape your relationships. ● How to meet difficult emotions with curiosity and compassion. ● How to practice RAIN as a gentle, structured process. ● How Metta meditation softens the heart and supports resilience. ● How body language influences communication and nervous system safety. ● How breath and movements bring you back into the present moment. Ideal for anyone wanting to live and communicate with more clarity, intention, and authenticity – in body, mind, and heart. Please bring paper and a pen. Cash donation is appreciated. One third of the collected donations will be shared with the café, supporting this community space. Tango Immersion Weekend: Tango Argentino Essentials Lab
Tango Immersion Weekend: Tango Argentino Essentials Lab
Join us today for a guided session to prepare your body for musical tango. In this workshop we'll work with posture, axis, weight transfer, timing and coordination: the physical foundations that make musical choices possible in the dance. **Suitable for both roles and all levels.** A great way to arrive, warm up and ground your movement before the rest of the [Tango Immersion](https://www.jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion) Weekend's workshops. **No partner required.** Zentrum Exist, Sechshauser Str. 36-38, 1150 Wien \*\*\*\*\* **About this Tango Immersion Weekend** If your tango feels like counting steps instead of interacting with the music and your dance partner, this [Tango Immersion Weekend](https://www.jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion) is for you. We'll focus on the foundations that allow you to translate what you hear into what you dance, in a practical, embodied way. Instead of starting from the usual Tango-Vals-Milonga approach for this topic, we'll explore something often overlooked: the different styles within Tango Argentino itself. Have you noticed each orchestra invites a different quality of movement, timing and presence? That's why we don't dance to every tango the same way, and why simply copying steps rarely works. Across this [Tango Immersion Weekend](https://www.jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion/#program): * Our **Tango Essentials Lab** for all levels will help you ground perception, timing, weight transfers and presence, because musicality depends on fundamentals and embodiment (well, what doesn't?). * **4 workshops** that combine individual and partner work invite you to explore how different Tango styles can live in your body. * Our **Focused Práctica** supports you to integrate discoveries and receive feedback (yes, it's literally a space to practice, no Milonga dynamic). * Our **Milonga Itinerante** is back! Now longer, at a new wonderful location, and on a monthly basis. Join a welcoming space where learning meets what really matters: social dancing and tango friendship time. This will be a special edition! Get ready to play! The first person who discovers what makes this one special gets a prize. **If you've been waiting for your dance to feel less mechanical and more like a conversation with the music, this is the right moment.** Join us to learn how to listen, choose and respond to musical impulses so your tango becomes adaptable, playful and alive. As usual in Jessica's classes, you're welcome to join with or without a dance partner and to dance both roles. **You can register for the full weekend (and get free access to the Milonga) or single workshops, Práctica and/or Milonga, as you feel called.** **You're welcome alone, with a dance partner, or friends.** Per workshop €25 Full Weekend (5 workshops + Practice session + Milonga) €140 Participants of 2 or more workshops get free entry to the Milonga Partial scholarships are available for young students and people with low income. Use the coupon code U30 at checkout [on the website](jessicagerdel.com/tangoimmersion) or reach out to Jessica. Spread the word and get ready to dance it all! Bring Forward Your Important Work
Bring Forward Your Important Work
**If you carry important work inside you — creative, entrepreneurial, or otherwise — and it remains unfinished, this session is for you.** We’ll explore the inner shift that allows meaningful work to move from longing into life. With guided reflection, conversation, and a simple worksheet, we’ll name what’s calling you, notice where the friction is, and begin to loosen what’s been holding the work back. This is about meeting the work at the level it’s asking for — identity, courage, coherence, and commitment. You’ll leave with a clearer relationship to what wants to come through you, a deeper understanding of what has stalled it, and a renewed sense of possibility and forward movement. I’ll provide a worksheet to guide the process. You can bring a notebook and pen. This gathering is hosted by **The Goldmine Life Design Studio** — a space devoted to helping people bring meaningful work into the world by aligning vision, identity, and direction. www.thegoldmine.life Feel free to look around and download your free Intelligences Map to understand how clarity, decisions, and movement actually form. I very much look forward to this conversation and supporting your vision.
Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Come write with us at Cafe Pierre every Sunday at 18:00-20:00! A message from Shut Up & Write: "Shut Up & Write hosts free, in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals." And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. From fiction to non-fiction, academic papers to poetry, applications to work-related writing—anything goes! Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on. Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! Please do order something from the café (drink, meal, dessert, etc.) so as to keep us in their good graces!

Queer Book Club - Fanny & Stella
Queer Book Club - Fanny & Stella
## *ella: The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England* by Neil McKenna In March, our Queer Book Club turns to history and gender nonconformity with *Fanny & Stella* by Neil McKenna — a gripping true story that challenges the idea that non-binary and gender-expansive lives are a modern phenomenon. We’ll gather at Villa Vida Café to discuss the book together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. **Date:** Sunday, March 8th, 2026 **Time:** 2:00 PM **Location:** Villa Vida Café, Vienna **In collaboration with:** [o*books](o-books.at) & [hint.wien](hint.wien) *** ## About the Book *Fanny & Stella: The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England* is a meticulously researched historical account of Ernest Boulton and Frederick Park, two Victorian-era performers and friends who lived publicly in feminine clothing and personas known as “Fanny” and “Stella.” In 1870, they were arrested at a London theatre while dressed in women’s clothing and charged with “conspiracy to commit sodomy,” sparking a sensational public trial in 1871. Their case became one of the most talked-about scandals of the time, exposing hidden queer social networks and anxieties around gender, sexuality, and identity in Victorian Britain. Neil McKenna draws from court transcripts, letters, and contemporary reporting to reconstruct their lives, revealing a complex world of performance, friendship, desire, and survival. Rather than framing them as curiosities, the book presents Fanny and Stella as real people navigating rigid social norms while expressing gender in ways that still resonate today. The story offers a powerful reminder that gender diversity has always existed, even when it had no accepted language or safety.

Confidence in Bloom: How Creativity Builds Confidence
Confidence in Bloom: How Creativity Builds Confidence
**Confidence in Bloom: How Creativity Builds Confidence** What happens when creativity becomes an intentional practice? In this month’s Confidence Lab, we’ll gather at **Petals That Inspire: The Flourish Studio** for an evening exploring the connection between creativity and confidence. How making with our hands, engaging our senses, and allowing space for expression can shift how we see ourselves and what we believe is possible. Our featured speaker, **Amanda Lorenzetti**, owner of Petals That Inspire, will share how creativity has shaped her own confidence journey and why creative environments play such a powerful role in well-being, resilience, and personal growth. Drawing from her work leading an experience-driven floral studio and a community-centered workforce development program, Amanda will reflect on creativity as both a personal and collective catalyst. Amanda will also guide us through a **hands-on floral design experience**, creating a fresh arrangement in a wide mouth mason jar. No prior floral experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to engage the process. This evening is an invitation to slow down, create, and reconnect with the part of yourself that grows through care, attention, and imagination. You’ll leave with a floral arrangement to take home, and a deeper understanding of how confidence can be cultivated through creative practices. **Featured Speaker: Amanda Lorenzetti** Amanda Lorenzetti is the owner and founder of [Petals That Inspire](https://www.petalsthatinspire.com/) and The Flourish Studio, a social enterprise florist based in Columbus, Ohio. She brings more than a decade of experience in wedding and event sales, paired with hands-on expertise in floral and event design. Amanda’s connection to the floral industry began early, spending time alongside her godmother, a professional florist on the East Coast. After earning her business degree, she returned to her hometown in Connecticut to work as a floral and event designer, blending creative artistry with strong operational and client-focused skills. In 2020, Amanda returned to the floral industry with a renewed purpose, driven by a desire to build a business rooted in creativity, community impact, and sustainability. During this pivotal time, she founded Petals That Inspire—an innovative floral concept that reimagines the traditional florist model by combining event florals, workshops, and experiential offerings with a mission-centered approach to workforce development. Today, Petals That Inspire is a thriving social enterprise known for its thoughtful design, educational experiences, and commitment to empowering young adults facing barriers to entry in the workforce. Amanda is deeply passionate about building businesses that are both profitable and purpose-driven, and she leverages her strong business acumen to create a scalable & sustainable model that inspires creativity while giving back to the community. **What is Confidence Lab?** Confidence Lab is a monthly community experience for bold, thoughtful leaders building confidence from the inside out. Whether you’re launching a business, leading a team, navigating change, or simply striving to show up more fully—you belong here. Our work demands clarity, courage, and conviction—but the pace of daily life can erode our sense of self. Confidence Lab creates space to reflect, reconnect, and grow with others doing purpose-driven work. It’s designed for entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, corporate professionals, activists, and anyone ready to lead with authenticity and impact. ***Please note:*** *All are welcome! If cost is a concern, please use promo code PUBLIC to access a free ticket—we want you to join us.*

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Shut Up & Write!® Easton Town Center

Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at noon on Sundays. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 12:00 - quick intros. 12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! • What to bring Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible. See you at The Café on Sunday!
