The Language Café is primarily aimed at people who are struggling with their mental health which can make it hard to go to regular courses. We want to create a safe space for everyone to learn and practise without pressure. Everyone is welcome! Please try to be on time so we can all get started together :) We mainly practise on a beginner/lower intermediate level and adapt to everyone's prior level of German. The Language Café will focus on teaching you the most important words and phrases and basic grammar in German. The content of the course is adapted to real life. (everyday life in Germany, dealing with authorities, etc.) We will cover different topics every week and you can join us anytime, since the topics do not necessarily build on each other. We are the team of CaféIN, an inclusive café in Spandau, inviting you to our German language café - Sprach-CaféIN! 😎 With our language café, we aim to create a safe space for everyone to practice real German, without boring grammar exercises and books, but over coffee, conversations and new encounters :) Every person will be warmly welcome at our Sprach-CaféIN, regardless of background and origin. We are happy to see each and everyone of YOU! Our events are not about politics, as we aim to build bridges and bring people together through language and culture. Participation is free, but every participant is **required** to order at least one drink or snack at the café. This helps us support CaféIN and keep this special place alive.

(Inside event) Are you learning a language but can't find people to practice with? Do you enjoy helping people speak your native language? If so, meet with us to make friends and have some good conversations. We begin by sharing the languages we speak fluently and the ones we are learning. Then we split into groups and speak! You can switch groups as often as you'd like. The goal is to speak about interesting, thought-provoking topics - not just the typical introductions we usually make. At our last meetups we spoke: German, Ukranian, English, French, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Turkish, Polish, Swedish, Arabic, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Dutch. Can you help us make this list bigger? We hope to see you there and welcome ANY and ALL languages. (However, we cannot guarantee we will have a speaking partner for all languages). We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! This year's Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Vienna, Austria, and the finals are scheduled for 16 May 2026. The [Scandinavian Club of Columbus](https://www.scandiclub.com/) will be co-hosting a viewing party for the final event in conjunction with Germania and the [Columbus Maennerchor](https://www.maennerchor.com/). The delayed televised viewing will take place at the Germania. The program will start around 2:00 p.m. and the singing will **start around 3:00 p.m**. There will be a **cash bar**, and those in attendance can **bring food or snacks** for themselves and or to share with the groups. **Suggested donation: $10/person** to help cover the cost of the venue.
