OpenClaw London #1
## This isn’t your typical tech meetup.
And it’s definitely not a generic AI networking night.
This is **OpenClaw — in the real world.**
No slides.
No panels.
Instead, we’re taking the OpenClaw framework out of the docs and into the room - at the legendary pool hall 1920 in Farringdon for a relaxed evening of builders, agents, and ideas colliding.
🎱 **The Format**
OpenClaw is about *agents that act, systems that collaborate, and people who build*.
We’ll meet at 1920, grab a drink, rack up a few games, and spend the evening:
🦞 Connecting with people actively building on or exploring OpenClaw
🦞 Sharing live experiments, agent architectures, and workflows
🦞 Debating what agent native startups really look like
🦞 Exchanging practical lessons from building autonomous systems
🦞 Forming collaborations that extend beyond the meetup
Think of it as a distributed OpenClaw lab session - just with better lighting and a pool table.
No pool skills required. Zero.
If you can hold a cue (or an opinion on agents), you’re qualified.
The whole point is to lower the barrier, raise the energy, and make real technical conversation easy.
Weds British sign language (BSL) practice at the National Theatre, Southbank

The event is free and will take place at the National Theatre: https://maps.app.goo.gl/74QGHXWPs5KZH6MC9
We'll meet around 6:15 pm, and playtesting sessions will begin at 6:30 pm.
Join us for an evening of engaging playtests and creative feedback!
Were We Ready For The Epstein Files? - Victoria Debates
**The House Believes Releasing The Epstein Files Was A Mistake**
**Why Are We Having This Debate?**
The Epstein Files, a collection of legal documents containing every bit of information from evidence collected against the disgraced financier Epstein to the court proceedings, victims and unending list of accusations from the notorious to the unsubstantiated.
The US Justice department has released these documents under the "Epstein Transparency Act" signed by President Trump but such mass releases of sensitive investigative material of what is still an ongoing set of investigations is unprecedented. Are we ready for what comes next if this trend continues or would we have been better off letting the department of justice continue it's investigations behind closed doors?
So we ask - Were we ready for the Epstein Files To be released?

Come along and have your vote!
**What We Do**
3v3 panel debate where our members explore the strongest arguments for a given topic.
A debate should tell the audience what they need to know and not just what the speakers think. If you feel the same way, then we want to meet you.
Debate London is the year-round series of free public debates held weekly at venues across the capital. The series is run by Debate London, a social enterprise that helps its members to advance their personal and professional development by teaching them how to debate.
All of our speakers are [Debate London members](https://www.debate.london/plans "https://www.debate.london/plans") who have agreed to defend a particular perspective the audience need to hear, rather than just share their own personal opinion. After presenting the point of view assigned to them, the audience are then given the floor to cross-examine them and share their own position.
The only time we hear what the speakers really think is at the end of the debate when they tell us where they really stand and whether this changed at all while learning how to defend the perspective assigned to them.
**After Debate Social**
After all of our debates we have a post debate hang-out. This is a chance for our community to get to know new people, explore new ideas and generally have more fun as a club! Come along and join us for a post-debate social!
**Venue**
Our venues serve drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks) as well as brilliant food. All can be ordered from the bar
**Do not bring external food or drink into our venues you will be asked to throw it away or to finish it outside. - This is a venue rule which we need to follow.**

The Justice Trap: Law and the Disempowerment of Society
Hello Everyone,
For this meeting, we’ll be reading and discussing Peter Gelderloos’ essay **[“The Justice Trap: Law and the Disempowerment of Society.”](https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/peter-gelderloos-the-justice-trap-law-and-the-disempowerment-of-society)** It’s a provocative text that questions what happens when social movements rely on “justice” through legal frameworks and state institutions, and how the justice system can end up weakening collective power, autonomy, and even community bonds. The essay also explores alternatives: restorative approaches to conflict, decentralized ways of resolving harm, and what “social peace” might look like without policing and prisons.
Gelderloos argues that the “justice system” can harm movements even when it appears to be fair. He describes how repression can work without convictions: two people are arrested, and an entire community ends up “punished” through stress, time-drain, fundraising, legal admin, fear, and disruption — meaning the **process becomes the punishment**, even if the court later “absolves” them.
He also pushes us to separate *resolving harm* from *justice institutions*. He gives examples of restorative and community-based ways of arbitrating conflict without police, prisons, punishment, or a legal code. In these models, conflict is often **defined subjectively** by the people involved, based on shared cultural values that are **not codified** into law. Resolution is **decentralized** (not one official space, not one official outcome), and responsibility is **shared rather than specialized**. Instead of punishment, communities may use **social sanctions meant to discourage harmful behaviour** — from criticism and ridicule to withdrawing social ties, sometimes escalating to ostracism in serious cases. The underlying assumption is that most people want to remain part of the community and can be brought back into relationship through accountability and repair.
**Guiding questions for the discussion**
• Subjective conflict: if conflict is defined by individuals, how do we prevent constant conflict or bad-faith accusations — and how do we ensure real harms aren’t dismissed?
• Non-codified norms: what do we gain from not codifying values (flexibility, context)… and what do we risk (arbitrariness, bias, exclusion)?
• The spectrum of sanctions: which sanctions feel acceptable in your context, and which feel dangerous? Where is the line between “discouragement” and “punishment”?
• If we step away from the justice system, what practices or structures could communities use to address serious harm and protect people, without reproducing prisons and policing under a different name?
Looking forward to seeing you all for what should be a stimulating and welcoming session.

Celebrate National Chip and Dip Day!
***Okay, call me crazy but you have got to try their chip n dip!*** Club 85 is a true hidden gem in German Village! Seriously, old school, good comfort food and drink. We will try to gather in spaces near the windows. While we'll share Chip n Dip, you'll want to order a sandwich, too.
**Where the Chip Began (1817)**
Potato chips can be traced back to an English chef, William Kitchiner, who includes ‘crisps’ in his bestselling cookbook, “The Cook’s Oracle.”
**Chip and Dip Popularity**
The popularity of chip and dip skyrockets at the end of World War II with new entertainment fads and the introduction of Lipton’s new advertising campaign for their famous French Onion Dip. (Club 185 doesn't openly admit it, but I'm pretty sure that's their dip recipe!)
**[Club 185](http://club185.com/)**—a true neighborhood bar serving since 1954, when it was known as a local 'speak-easy'. Located in German Village, Club 185 features a menu of quality casual comfort food and full bar. From politicians to lawyers, hardhats to hipsters—all find Club 185 the perfect place to tame their hunger and quench their thirst!
**PARKING**: I know, brick street parallel parking can be a pain. Two other choices, metered parking along Livingston heading towards Children's Hospital or across the street in the large church lot (park in spaces farthest away from the church entrance doors, closer to the street).
**PRE-EVENT**: **HAPPY HOUR (3-5pm)**: Italian drinks and bites at [Cento's happy hour](https://centogermanvillage.com/menus/), nearby.

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
