**Agent Client Protocol ([ACP](https://agentclientprotocol.com/)) and the Future of Interoperable Coding Agents**
Coding agents are part of everyday development workflows. Whether you are using an IDE or working in the CLI, coding agents are helping developers write, refactor, test, and debug code. But todayâs ecosystem is fragmented, we have so many coding agents Claude Code. Codex, Gemini CLI and many others. Every editor, every tool, and every agent often speaks its own language and has own harness. Not single coding harness will solve you all needs and you should be able to switch or have a choice to use different harnesss
What if you could use **any coding agent** inside **the editor you love**?
That is exactly what the **Agent Client Protocol ([ACP](https://agentclientprotocol.com/))** enables.
ACP is an open protocol that standardizes communication created by Zed Industries, between code editors and coding agents. It works for both local and remote scenarios. Think of it as the LSP for coding agents. Just as the Language Server Protocol unified language tooling across editors, ACP aims to unify how editors interact with intelligent coding agents.

The Bell - Iris Murdoch [In-person Meeting]
**This event is supported by The Royal Institute of Philosophyâs [Local Partners Programme](https://royalinstitutephilosophy.org/news/fund-your-event/).**
**N.B. this meeting will be held in person in the Prince of Wales pub near Covent Garden. There is also an online session held on Thursday if you are not in London or are not able to attend in-person.**
Our 2026 theme, 'Quest', takes a more inward turn this month. We join the residents of Imber Court, people yearning for spiritual meaning in a lay religious community, each pursuing their own paths to goodness and meaning. When art student Dora arrives, recently having left her husband, conflicts and secrets come to the fore, forcing the residents to confront one another and themselves.
The meeting starts at 7pm with drink breaks at 8 and 9. The discussion will end around 10pm, but leave whenever you need to.
Here's the blurb from Penguin.co.uk
Imber Court is a quiet haven for lost souls. It offers a sanctuary for those who can neither live in the world, nor out of it. But beneath the gentle daily routines of the community run currents of suppressed desire, religious yearning and a legend of disastrous love. Charming, indolent Dora arrives in the midst of all this, and half-unwittingly conjures these submerged things to the surface.
**Our confirmed 2026 books are:**
* January - The Wizard of Earthsea, Ursual K. Le Guin
* February - The Old Man and the Sea, Ernest Hemingway
* March - The Bell, Iris Murdoch
* April - Haroun and Sea of Stories, Salman Rushdie
* May - Journey to the West/Monkey - Weng Cheng-En
* June - The Odyssey, Homer
Under the Hood: Supercomputing, Neuromorphic AI and Quantum Explained
# Under the Hood: Making Deep Tech Understandable for the Rest of Us
Deep tech is brilliant⌠until itâs explained like a secret handshake. đ
This Brighton AI meetup is for anyone who wants to understand whatâs actually going on "under the hood" of the next wave of AI and hardware, without needing a PhD (or pretending youâve already got one).
Weâve brought together three experts for fast-paced, 15-minute briefings on the tech thatâs moving from the lab to the real world. No jargon, just the essentials on how it works and why it matters.
### What weâll cover:
* **Supercomputing for AI:** What it actually is, why it's the engine of the current AI boom, and when a business actually needs it.
* **Neuromorphic AI:** How "brain-inspired" hardware can slash the massive energy bills of modern AI.
* **Quantum Sensing:** Moving past the hype to see how quantum tech is already being trialled in rail, defence, and energy.
### đ When and where
* **Date:** Wednesday 11 March
* **Time:** 18:00 â 20:00
* **Venue:** Sussex Innovation Centre, Falmer (University of Sussex campus)
**Who should attend:** Founders, builders, students, researchers, product people, and the simply curious. Whether youâre deep in the code or just want to know what the headlines actually mean, youâll be very welcome.
### Our speakers
**Andy Forrester (HypeAccelerator Solutions Limited)** *Talk: Supercomputing for AI* Andy is an innovation and data science transformation specialist. He supports large, complex organisationsâacross government, aerospace, and healthcare - to turn emerging tech into real-world delivery. Heâll explain the "heavy lifting" hardware that makes modern AI possible.
**Professor Thomas Nowotny (University of Sussex / Sussex AI)** *Talk: Reducing AI energy consumption with neuromorphic hardware* Thomas is a Professor of Informatics and co-director of the âSussex AIâ Centre of Excellence. He works in Computational Neuroscience and Biomimetic AI. Heâll show us how moving to "event-based" machine learning can help stop AI from consuming quite so much electricity.
**Fedja Orucevic & Thomas Coussens (Spectomiq)** *Talk: Quantum â What is it and what are the commercial applications?* A University of Sussex spin-out, Spectomiq is moving quantum tech from the lab to the ground. Theyâll explain how their patented sensing arrays pick out signals from "noisy" environments in real-time. We'll look at three big use cases:
* **Rail:** Pinpointing train locations without visual confirmation.
* **Defence:** Navigating in "GPS-denied" environments.
* **Energy:** Detecting defects in EV batteries without invasive testing.
### Format
* **18:00:** Arrivals + drinks
* **18:15:** Welcome (Brighton AI)
* **18:20:** Three 15-minute lightning talks
* **19:15:** Combined Audience Q&A
* **19:40:** Informal chats + networking
* **20:00:** Close
**Who should attend:** Founders, builders, students, researchers, product people, and the simply curious. Whether youâre deep in the code or just want to know what the headlines actually mean, youâll be very welcome.

Celebrate National Chip and Dip Day!
***Okay, call me crazy but you have got to try their chip n dip!*** Club 185 is a true hidden gem in German Village! Seriously, old school, good comfort food and drink. We will try to gather in spaces near the windows. While we'll share Chip n Dip, you'll want to order a sandwich, too.
**Where the Chip Began (1817)**
Potato chips can be traced back to an English chef, William Kitchiner, who includes âcrispsâ in his bestselling cookbook, âThe Cookâs Oracle.â
**Chip and Dip Popularity**
The popularity of chip and dip skyrockets at the end of World War II with new entertainment fads and the introduction of Liptonâs new advertising campaign for their famous French Onion Dip. (Club 185 doesn't openly admit it, but I'm pretty sure that's their dip recipe!)
**[Club 185](http://club185.com/)**âa true neighborhood bar serving since 1954, when it was known as a local 'speak-easy'. Located in German Village, Club 185 features a menu of quality casual comfort food and full bar. From politicians to lawyers, hardhats to hipstersâall find Club 185 the perfect place to tame their hunger and quench their thirst!
**PARKING**: I know, brick street parallel parking can be a pain. Two other choices, metered parking along Livingston heading towards Children's Hospital or across the street in the large church lot (park in spaces farthest away from the church entrance doors, closer to the street).
**PRE-EVENT**: **HAPPY HOUR (3-5pm)**: Italian drinks and bites at [Cento's happy hour](https://centogermanvillage.com/menus/), nearby.
Shut Up & Write!ÂŽ East Side Columbus
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 25 at Streetlight Guild.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
**SCHEDULE:**
6:45ish - Quick introductions
7:00 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
8:00 - The End
**OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING** happens before and after the writing hour. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
**BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing & I look forward to seeing you at Streetlight Guild!
**WHAT SHOULD I BRING?**
Whatever you need to be able to write! You're welcome to bring earplugs/headphones if noise will bother you!
**OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:**
* **RSVP:** Please RSVP by 6:00pm the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many to expect, and if we'll need additional space!
* **COVID:** While masks are not required, please be mindful of the other writers around you and their comfort levels.
* **WIFI/OUTLETS:** Outlets are limited, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But Streetlight Guild does have free WiFi! Yay!
* **PARKING:** There is free public parking at Streetlight Guild.
TBD
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
