Volleyball Training and Games - Intermediate - B Level (PVGC)
Welcome to Melbourne Volleyball Academy! ๐ค
**[[WHAT]]**
This session will be broken into 2 halves, 1st half is training and the 2nd half is games. Please arrive on time as we will start exactly at 6:30 PM.
Our intention is to have this training be the 'next step' after our beginner-level training at North Melbourne Community Centre.
We will be focusing on learning what specific roles on the court entail, improving 'volleyball IQ', breaking bad habits, and building better techniques.
**[[WHERE]]**
The session will be held as Pascoe Vale Girls College.
Please enter via Cornwall Road through the back gates as other entrances onto the campus will be closed
**[[WHO]]**
The training is intended for social volleyball players at the intermediate level or 'B' level (for more details on volleyball levels, please visit our site here: https://melbournevolleyballacademy.com.au/skill-levels-explained).
Players are expected to:
* have strong fundamentals
* pass freeballs and serve receive consistently
* understand 4-2 system (pass middle rotation)
* have some knowledge of 5-1 (1 setter all around) or 6-2 (back row setter only) systems
* understand 'base defense'
* help others and have good sportsmanship
If you are a high intermediate (BB) or advanced player (A) you are more than welcome to join but you may find our open play sessions for BB/A level players more suitable.
For players that are at the beginner level, we suggest attending our training on Fridays at North Melbourne Community Centre 6-9PM as beginners may find the drills and level of play too difficult.
Players will be asked to attend a different session if their play is deemed unsafe or if they are not of the appropriate skill level.
**[[HOW MUCH]]**
$24 card payment will be collected on the day via square (EFTPOS) payment.
**[[WHEN]]**
The stadium is booked for 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM. However, feel free to come early and stretch as the stadium is open earlier.
**Last-minute dropouts and no-shows will have a zero-tolerance policy going forward.**
All players are expected to **update their RSVP at least 24 hours** in advance if they are unable to attend. This applies to players on the going list and the waitlist.
**[[THINGS TO BRING]]**
We ask that you bring:
* Water bottle
* Appropriate footwear for indoor court shoes - netball shoes, volleyball shoes, or basketball shoes would be suitable.
* Wear contacts or sports glasses if possible.
**[[OTHER DETAILS]]**
Only those on the โgoingโ list are permitted to play. If you are on the waitlist, or not registered at all, you will not be permitted to play.

This is a beginner-friendly D&D game
You donโt need to know anything
Most people are new
We teach as we play
Cooperative game

You donโt need to bring anything
Youโll be seated shortly after you arrive

You will not be the only one

Play a character in a fantasy story
Make choices with your group
Talk, explore, and solve problem

You work a 9โ5 or shift work, and want to meet new people after work or on weekends
You enjoy fantasy stories, books or game
You want to try dungeons and dragon
You want a cooperative story game night that will be the highlight of your week
**Frequently Asked Questions... ๐ต๏ธโโ**
**Won't everyone else already know each other?**
The only people who know each other are the Dungeon Masters leading each table. We don't allow groups to attend these nights, so at most there is a duo coming who already know each other. Everyone and you are super new to this
**Will I be the only girl at the event?**
No, our events are generally 3:1 ratio, most tables I have seen are 2 girls and 4 guys. no promises on any individual night, but you'll find it doesn't impact your enjoyment
**I'm worried I might slow everyone else down?**
Not true, pre-filled character sheets take much of the guess work out of learning the game, and the GMs have all taught tens to hundreds of people this game
*The only thing you'll want to remember is the "D20", a twenty sided dice is always used to resolve actions, whether it's picking a pocket, striking a wicked goblin or recalling history on a forgotten ruin*
*Ok, your basically ready now. seriously*
Don't believe me? Come and find out for yourself
**I'm worried I might be too old/too young for this?**
so here's what you'll want to know. we usually see attendees anywhere from 19-49 years of age
normally it's 25-35ish as we often curate out events for young professionals and established professionals working locally
But I'll say this: if you get along with a mature audience of respectful people who can collaborate together - you're in for a good time
**Session information**
3-hour(ish) game- first sessions is a free trial
Run by experienced Dungeon Maste
2โ3 tables each night
**Before the event**

4 July: Figurine Painting and Friends-Social
**โจAre you tired of making โhow are youโ friends? This event is for you!โจ**
๐จWhat better way to build and deepen connections than through a fun activity like **Figurine painting**!
There are many social events but it isnโt easy to feel connected to someone in a large group setting. I am super extroverted yet found myself walking home after a great social feeling more lonely, because of all the superficial connections made. I started Hue&Crew to help people build their next close-friend circle based on age, personality and interest!
๐จ**What to Expect**
This isnโt a big mixer event, every event has a limit of 6 people per table and a fishbowl full of conversation starters to help people get started! We move around Melbourne's many beautiful cafes weekly to keep things fresh! Expect:
* A fresh, comfy venue
* A hosted structure so youโre never left awkwardly quiet
* A fishbowl of conversation starters for the introverts
* A relaxed atmosphere where you can genuinely be yourself
* Hand-painted figurines you made yourself to bring home
Each group is curated to feel natural, matched by age, interest and personality
๐จ**Notice before you sign up:**
As the events are really small and it might take some time to form a group with similar interests, we will inform you when there is a suitable group for you!
