Museum Sundays Special: Suomenlinna & picnic
Museum Sundays Special: Suomenlinna & picnic
Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a classic summer picnic location only 15 minute ferry ride away from downtown Helsinki. Join us for a tour of the island, and if feeling up for it, check out the various museums located around the island where both the Museum Card and the Helsinki Card grant free entry. There's no pre-planned route or destination — instead we'll take a walk around the fortress ruins and pop in wherever we're feeling up for it. Afterwards we'll settle in a park somewhere nearby for food and drinks. **Possible stops include:** * [Sotamuseo Maneesi (just opened a new exhibition showing WWII era soviet war propaganda)](https://museot.fi/nayttelykalenteri/index.php?nayttely_id=40407) * [Suomenlinna museum (recently opened a new exhibition showing handcrafted Finnish glass)](https://museot.fi/nayttelykalenteri/index.php?nayttely_id=42566) * [Submarine Vesikko (WWII era submarine so we can imagine what it would feel like having a panic attack after being sunk to the bottom of the sea in a tin can)](https://museot.fi/museohaku/index.php?museo_id=21149) * [Ehrensvärd museum (gawk at how a bunch of rich people lived in the 1700s)](https://museot.fi/museohaku/index.php?museo_id=21096) * [Customs museum (crazy things that have been forbidden from being imported and the crazy ways that crazy people tried to get around that prohibition)](https://tulli.fi/tutustu-tulliin/tullimuseo) We'll get together at the Kauppatori ferry terminal before passing over to the island. Once there, I'll share my location via GPS and everyone's free to tag along for the museum tour or simply take a walk around the island and take in the sights.

What Rich Families Teach Their Kids About Money
What Rich Families Teach Their Kids About Money
Most families work hard for years yet still struggle financially because they were never taught the principles of building, protecting, and transferring wealth. While schools teach people how to earn money, very few teach how to make money grow, protect income, reduce financial stress, and create long-term stability for future generations. In this exclusive Private Financial Blueprint Session, licensed financial professional Sandy Osei will walk attendees through practical financial concepts and strategies commonly used by financially successful families. This workshop is designed to help individuals and families better understand how money works and how to make smarter financial decisions in today’s economy. During this live online session, participants will learn: • The financial habits wealthy families teach their children early • Common money mistakes that keep families financially stuck • How to protect income and prepare for unexpected life events • Strategies to begin building long-term wealth and financial security • Ways to create more financial freedom, options, and stability for future generations • Important financial concepts many people were never taught in school This is not just another motivational webinar. The session is focused on education, real-life application, and actionable steps attendees can begin implementing immediately. Because this is a private session, seating is limited and available by application only. The workshop is open to serious applicants located in the United States and Canada who are ready to improve their financial future and gain valuable financial knowledge. Whether you are starting your financial journey, trying to break generational cycles, or looking for better strategies for your family’s future, this workshop was created to provide clarity, education, and empowerment. Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
Wine Tasting - Newcomers Night
This is "***New Members Night***." If you are one of the many folks on the fence about coming to your first wine tasting with the *Hilliard Wine Club*, this is the night to come. There will be many other new people, so you won't be alone. And the regulars will be there to help make you feel welcome. We're a relaxed and warm group. We hope to see you. **New Venue:** After more than a year on Norwich Street in Old Hilliard we have found a new home at The District's Club House. It's about 3 miles from the former location but is brighter and more spacious. See photos and map. **SIDE NOTE:** New members are welcome to ALL our Friday night wine tastings, but this night is a special overture to those who don't want to feel that they are the only new person in the room. Don't worry. You won't be. And don't hesitate to RSVP to other events. **OLD MEMBERS NOTE**: Hey Old Members! You're not excluded from this event. We expect to see you there to help make the new members feel welcome. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (*Cash or Venmo only please*). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything. **Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples as always. And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge. **Parking**: There are 15 visitor spaces along the North curve if you make a right hand turn after the first stop sign when you are facing the clubhouse. If all of those spaces are taken, there are 30 more visitor spaces across the back of the community (westerb edge) where the concrete wall separates the world from I-270. It's only about a 100 yard walk back to the clubhouse from there. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine. **Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum and Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies, clowns, and actual circus. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

Wine Tasting / Shark Week!
Wine Tasting / Shark Week!
**Shark Week Kick Off -** In celebration of Shark Week (and to honor Nick's favorite animal, just after humans and bigfoot) we will serve shark themed wines and play the theme to Jaws in the background as our wittier members blurt out puns such as "I think we're going to need a bigger..." glass of wine... Shark Week runs from **Sunday, July 26, through Saturday, August 1, 2026**. The eight-day programming event will air on the Discovery Channel. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (cash or Venmo only please). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*
