The third session of Shared Reading will focus on poetry. Using two poems to get us started, one classic and one contemporary, we will try to get to the heart of what poetry is all about. Why do people read poetry? What can it do for us? How do you read a poem? Whether you are a long time devotee or poetry skeptic, this meetup is for you! As with all our sessions, you do not need to have prepared anything in order to attend the session- just come along, pull up a chair, and join the discussion. Most dances are well represented in Utrecht, especially salsa/bachata/kizomba in the expat community. One of those exceptions is Argentinian tango, which (as many may know in the community), I've been dancing for a while now 😊 Maybe you had as a bucket list item to try a new dance out, or maybe you've seen others dance tango and you were curious to try it out, or perhaps you want to see what is this thing that I'm (constantly) talking about. Welcome to the second edition of the Cafe Crawl series! 🥐☕ After a succesful first cherry blossom edition, we will continue to use a theme for every cafe crawl. That way you can find the crawl that fits you best, and this time we're exploring the (hidden) bakeries of Utrecht's city center. We meet at Domplein and from there we'll take a beautiful walk along canals and through some of the prettiest corners of the center, stopping at two carefully selected bakeries along the way. One of them serves vegan options, so there's something for everyone! This edition we skip the sitting down, instead we eat, drink and chat on the go, taking in the city as we walk. If the weather is kind we'll make a little stop in a park along the way. You'll be put in small groups that switch a few times, so by the end you'll have had genuine conversations with a good mix of people. **How it works:** We walk, we discover, we eat something delicious, and we meet new people. We have never until now featured Zinfandel, the ubiquitous California grape with the Dublin Wine MeetUp Group. At its best Zinfandel, is rich, voluptuous, with great depth of red and blue fruits. Jammy and hedonistic are common descriptions Each person should bring one bottle of an quality Zinfandel wine; be creative and quality conscious, with some bottle age if possible. Turley, Martinelli, Biale, Seghesio, Ridge, Hartford Bedrock, Carlisle, Klinker Brick, Frog's Leap, and anything from the Rockpile vineyard is likely to be very good to great. The Prisoner wines began as a Zinfandel blend. Also bring a protein based appetizer to share and **a wine glass for your personal use.** Cheese and meats are best with these wines. There will be a gas grill behind the clubhouse to grill. We’ll gather at the Oak Creek clubhouse, where the Dublin Wine Group, hosted by Thom and supported by Timothy, will take it from there. We practice, dance, and enjoy a BYOB bottle of your favorite wine at the Dublin Ballroom off Sawmill, North, and “milonga” is a social event for tango dancing where dancers socialize. A “*practica*” is an informal social event for tango dancing where dancers focus on practicing the dance; while a “*practilonga*” combines the relaxed atmosphere of a “*practica*” with the format of a “milonga.” We are doing it all! ***Cost is $10 payable to the Teacher.*** *Cost is for the cost of the venue and covers some snacks.* We have had fun doing this event in the past. Please arrive promptly as lessons begin at 2pm. Don't worry about bringing a partner as there will be others at the event from outside the group that: a) might have a clue and b) won't step on your toes. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome!
