Then join our Badminton Coaching session, improve your games and have more fun playing! **When** Thursdays, 7- 9 pm 14 Aug. – 18 Sept., weekly for 6 weeks **What you will learn** This course is designed to provide a good understanding of the basics of the game, to provide a solid foundation on which to build and improve skills and techniques. The course will cover: * Basics: Equipment, shoes, court layout, scoring * Grips, Opening Positions * Movement at net * Backhand low serve * Return of serve: net & clearance * Backhand flick/high serve * Overhead clearance shot * Forehand low serve * Forehand flick serve * Doubles movement & positioning **Details** * Each session will entail 0 mins of coaching and 30 mins of practice/play time. * The 1st 90 minutes will be coaching in a dedicated court. * The remaining 30 minutes will be play time so you can practice what you’ve learnt. You will play with the rest of the club as in our normal session. * Signing up for this event will sign you up for the full 8-session course. **Meet your coach** Islam is a qualified Level 2 Badminton coach and a regular player in our club. He started playing badminton when he was at school. He was playing with friends, who were all much better than him. He decided to take some lessons, learned the basics and it improved his games dramatically. He enjoyed the improvement so much that he decided he wanted to help others do the same. I am a native, qualified teacher of English and this is a session designed for you to go over any particular issues that you have in English - grammar, exam preparation, pronunciation, vocabulary and so on - as well as to practise your conversational skills discussing current topics. Every Wednesday at 620 High Street, North Finchley, N12 0NU (Christ Church Hall) from 8pm to 10pm. Doors open at 7:45pm. Lessons are formatted in two sessions. In each session there will be 30 minutes teaching followed by 20 minutes practice. Pay at the door for £15 per lesson. Some basic woodworking experience is useful for this course but not necessary. **About:** Using a fusion of hardwood and softwood, this six week evening course will teach you the fundamentals of woodwork and give you an opportunity to use classic hand tools; brass backed tenon saws, sharp wood chisels and delicately honed vintage wood planes. An absorbing course for confident beginners and a enjoyable learning experience for anyone with a little woodworking experience. Using a fusion of hardwood and softwood, this six week evening course will teach you the fundamentals of woodwork and give you an opportunity to use classic hand tools; brass backed tenon saws, sharp wood chisels and delicately honed vintage wood planes. This well proportioned flip lidded box is constructed of European Redwood using a single dovetail joint at each corner and the fitted hardwood lid is attached to the base by a handmade ‘dowel’ peg hinge. The project will familiarise learners with many classic woodwork techniques and is taught with patience and enthusiasm by Andy Nicholl, who has devised this informative and challenging project. You will take home a treasure to treasure and we hope it will enthuse you to learn how to make many handmade woodwork projects in the years to come.
