Solo travellers: casual hangout in Vienna (4pm)
**No pressure, no plan—just new friends** ✨
Whether you’re visiting Vienna for the first time, recently relocated, or simply love connecting with curious people, this weekly meetup is the perfect way to share stories, make friends, and go explore, as a group, the magic that Vienna has to offer 🇦🇹
**What to expect?**
• **Casual & hostless**: no formal host, no schedule: just show up, be yourself, meet fellow solo travellers & expats and decide as a group where you feel like going
• **Central meeting point**: it is surrounded by cultural landmarks, cafes, and restaurants, making it a convenient and safe starting point.
• **Open to everyone**: whether you are a local, an expat or just passing through for a few days, you are welcome to join. (English is the primary language, but feel free to switch of course)
**How to talk with strangers?**
(and create meaningful connections)
To help you get started, I curated a little game of **[ridiculously good questions](https://www.pierrebonvalot.com/theblog?p=285a9711d7df80d5ac25dd4ef8fe5394&pm=c)** you can ask to break the ice, shift the conversation from dull to intriguing and fun, and eventually create meaningful connection quickly. I hope this helps!
**The only things you need to do are…**
• Leave a message in the comment section to let the others know that you will actually be there (I don’t want you to end up alone there :)
• If you can’t make it anymore, no problem! But please update your RSVP to let the others know
• Please be gentle and patient with each other. We all want to make good friends here.
**Why join?**
• Meet open-minded travellers and locals who are keen to connect, learn and have fun together.
• Experience Vienna... as a group.
• Be part of a global community that celebrates solo travelling and meaningful connections between foreign and locals.
**How does it works?**
1\. Arrive at the meeting spot at the scheduled time\.
2\. Look for other joiners—friendly faces and curious explorers\.
3\. Introduce yourself\, connect with others\, and decide as a group where to go\.
**When & where?**
• Day: every Sunday
• Time: 4:00 PM (meetup sometimes displays a different time zone: but it’s always 4pm local time)
• Location: in front of the Mozart Monument inside the Burggarten
**Hostless**: I am setting up the event for you all to meet, but I won't be there myself this time :)
**Hi my names is Pierre**
I created this Meetup group because I want to see more human connection happen in the real world. I feel many of us want this, but don't exactly know how to go about it. I hope this helps a little bit.
I also work as a transformational coach: I help people who feel stuck in their life to reconnect with themselves, create real change and ultimately live more fulfilling lives.

Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Come write with us at Cafe Pierre every Sunday at 18:00-20:00!
A message from Shut Up & Write: "Shut Up & Write hosts free, in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals."
And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on.
Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! Please do order something from the café (drink, meal, dessert, etc.) so as to keep us in their good graces!

Humming Traditions: SODAI - Straw, Form & Wind
An immersive workshop for adults — quiet hands, patient minds, and those who enjoy the slow rhythm of creation.
🌿Limited spots — please register early to reserve yours.
🌿Date: 27th of November
🌿Time: 18:30-20:30
🌿Location: Augasse 2-6 (an old WU building)
Step into the gentle rhythm of creation and discover Sodai, traditional Lithuanian straw mobiles that once filled homes with balance, harmony, and quiet beauty. In this workshop, we will explore the geometry of air, learning how to prepare and string straw into delicate symmetrical forms that sway softly with every breeze. Piece by piece, your hands will follow the same patterns that generations before us used to invite order and peace into their homes.
You’ll learn the basic techniques of straw preparation, stringing, and construction, and experience how a simple natural material can transform into something light, precise, and full of meaning. Together, we’ll move through a calm, meditative process — each gesture connecting thought, breath, and creation in quiet balance.
By the end, you’ll leave not only with your own handmade Sodas — a timeless ornament carrying both heritage and your creative touch — but also with the knowledge, focus, and stillness that this ancient craft awakens. It feels less like finishing an object and more like completing a gentle ritual of patience and peace.
To keep the experience personal and attentive, the group will be small and intimate — space is limited, so that every participant can receive individual guidance and care.
This workshop invites you to slow down, focus, and reconnect — with your hands, your thoughts, and the quiet poetry of simple materials. No previous experience is needed, only patient hands, a calm mind, and an eye for quiet detail.
Time is the finest luxury we have, and the rarest to give ourselves, so the moments you give yourself become treasures. Slow down with a meaningful creation and let your hands guide you into calm.
🌿🌿🌿
Humming Traditions is a series of creative workshops that explore the living, breathing essence of cultural practices. Each event invites participants to connect with ancient techniques, natural materials, and artistic expression in a hands-on, immersive experience.
The series celebrates the quiet resonance of tradition — the subtle vibrations, textures, and forms that have carried meaning through centuries. Whether through sound, movement, or craft, Humming Traditions is about experiencing culture as a living, dynamic, and tactile art form.
Each workshop stands on its own yet shares a common thread: creativity, mindfulness, and a connection to nature and heritage. Participants leave with newly learned skills, a calm mind, and a deeper appreciation for cultural artistry.

Wirklich sehen, hören, fühlen – Wie geschärfte Wahrnehmung Nähe ermöglicht
### **,,Wirklich sehen, hören, fühlen – Wie geschärfte Wahrnehmung Nähe ermöglicht''**
**Workshop für Sinne, Selbsterkenntnis & Beziehungstiefe**
***
* Achtsame Selbstwahrnehmung & ehrlicher Austausch in Kleingruppen
***
***
📍**Ort:** jeden Sonntag
🕖 **Zeit:** 11:00-14:30
☕ **Mit Sinnesimpulsen wie Kaffee & Duftübungen** Kaffee & kleine Snacks inklusive!

-----------------
Hey Badminton Enthusiasts!
This meet-up is for all levels: beginners, intermediates and experts. Everyone is welcome to join, test their skills and have some fun together!
The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12€ (for the 2 hours). If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available.
We are meeting at about 10:25 am near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but for the men lockers you need a padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you.
There is a drinking fountain available if you need to replenish your bottle.
If you do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets from the club, if necessary (3€). Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below!
If you are joining our events for the first time, WELCOME! Let the host know that you are new and they will find a place for you. Don't worry, we are an open and friendly group. We are sure you will develop connections with the people in our community in no time!
Without further ado - let's play some badminton and have fun together!

Social Hike: Moon River
What an experience. After a 10-minute train ride just outside Vienna proper, we'll hit the fields and seek out a small creek heading East, passing two villages and one lovely town famous for its brewery. Low-flying planes hint at the proximity of an airport. Slowly turning into a river, the creek yet leads us in a different direction through thick forests and water preservation areas.
To secure your spots, please ...
Step 1: RSVP here on Meetup first (optional but recommended)
Step 2: Complete your booking at https://vienna.ixpat.com/moonriver

Hike in the Lainzer Tiergarten
On **Sunday, 21.12.2025**, I am planing a hike in the Lainzer Tiergarten. We meet at the U4 station Hütteldorf, walk through the Nicolaitor and hike to the Hubertuswarte (a lookout tower) on the Kaltbründelberg (508m). We continue to the main entrance, the Lainzer Tor and on another path back via the Nicolaitor to the U4 station Hütteldorf. At Lainzertor there is the possibility to take bus 56B, e.g. to U4 Wien Hietzing. So if you want, you can end the hike at the Lainzer Tor.
So there are two hiking options of different lengths:
**1\. U4 station Hütteldorf to Lainzer Tor:**
Length of the tour: approx. 12km
Duration: approx. 3.5h
Altitude difference: approx. 300m up and 250m down
**2\. U4 station Hütteldorf\, Lainzer Tor to U4 station Hütteldorf \(circular hike\):**
Length of the tour: approx. 18km
Duration: approx. 5.5h
Altitude difference: approx. 500m up and 500m down
We **meet at 9 a.m**. outside (and south) of the **U4 station Hütteldorf at the lift at the pedestrian bridge over the Vienna River** (see the photo below).
Everyone has to bring their own food and drink (at least 1 liter), as we will not stop for a bite to eat. We take two to three breaks to rest and eat as needed.
My hikes and mountain hikes are free of charge and purely private joint leisure events. I am not a certified hiking or mountain guide. Participation is at your own responsibility and risk.

Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience.
And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree.
In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again.
Examples of painful experiences include:
* A broken relationship or divorce.
* Death or loss of a loved one.
* Death of a pet.
* A sudden shock or bad news.
* A betrayal.
* Being part of an abusive relationship.
* A bad injustice.
* Loss of a job, position or business.
* A grave illness or injury.
The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is sponsored the Dianetics & Scientology Self-Improvement Center.
Leave the Past Behind, Burning Bowl Ceremony at Unity of Columbus
As we prepare to enter a new year, the Burning Bowl Ceremony offers a powerful and heartfelt opportunity to let go of what no longer serves us and make space for new beginnings.
You are warmly invited to join us for this sacred and reflective ritual. The Burning Bowl Ceremony is a beloved Unity tradition—an empowering moment where we release old patterns, worries, or limiting beliefs by writing them down and symbolically releasing them into the flame. This act of letting go opens the door to clarity, peace, and transformation.
Mastering the Art of Forgiveness
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful acts of healing we can offer ourselves.
Join us every Wednesday for **“Mastering the Art of Forgiving,”** a gentle and transformative class that explores how to release resentment, heal emotional wounds, and open your heart to peace.
Through guided reflection, discussion, and practical tools, you’ll learn how forgiveness can free you from the past and create more harmony in your relationships — and in your spirit.
**Let go. Heal deeply. Live freely.**
**All are welcome.** No prior experience or preparation needed — just bring an open heart and the willingness to grow.
**This is a weekly live event.**
Simply log in to join — no RSVP required.

How to Move on From the Past and Feel Happy
In this local meeting, you will discover knowledge that you can use to get over the past.
The key to improving your personal motivation, self-confidence, and happiness is to get over your painful memories.
When you become free of your past, you will be free from stress, anger, anxiety and depression. Studies show that negative emotions can affect your health. By being free of negative emotions, believe it or not, you will most likely even look younger, feel more energetic, and become healthier!

Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
