Winter Gong Bath in Barking
Winter Gong Bath in Barking
[BOOK HERE](https://www.benita-yoga.com/gong-bath-in-barking) spaces are limited !!! Don’t predict anything that can happen in the gong bath, please bring an open mind with no expectations. This is an adventure. Just relax and drift off where the sound takes you 🙂 What to expect in Gong Bath? You simply submerge in the sounds, in the ocean of sounds. All you do is lie comfortably on a mat, close your eyes and slow your breath. Just like during the relaxation after our Yoga class. You prepare yourself to become the receiver of sound. In the place of stillness you become more open and aware of each sound that comes in. Then I create the soundtrack… Your mind, body and soul is bathed with the tones of the Gongs and other instruments. The aim is to go into a deep state of relaxation, taking you to a space of neutrality, a space of bliss where the body’s natural healing process begins… It’s all about opening the passage of energy flow throughout the body to make you healthy and happy. When you awaken, you are ready to come back to the outer world, revived, calm and full of energy. What’s behind this technology of sound vibrations? Sound has been used in various cultures for thousands of years to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance. The sound vibrations, confirmed by scientific research help return your body to a natural state of harmony. Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state. Our fluctuating brainwaves are synchronised with a stable frequency which the brain can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency it becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur). We experience our brainwave balancing to clear the mind, release stress from the nervous system and allow us to feel a deeper inner sense of peace, balance and vitality.

SOLD OUT • TEiP DEEP: A small group, deep dive into a single Thought Experiment
A **smaller, quieter, and less rushed** edition of THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS. At TEiP DEEP, we have the chance to spend a whole hour and a half on **one thought experiment**, exploring different perspectives, coming up with new questions, listening and learning from one another. **How it works:** \- We split into small groups for each chapter of the thought experiment \(3\-4\)\. \- We shuffle every 25 mins to meet new people and change things up\. \- And at the end we'll have a brief group reflection\, sharing ideas and insights \- this will be lightly facilitated to ensure that everyone has a chance to speak if they want to \(no pressure\)\. Some simple ground rules to keep our conversation the best it can be: * respect for one another’s perspectives, beliefs, time (etc.) * confidentiality of personal stories * own your perspective * you don’t have to talk if you don’t want to. Our aim is the same as our bigger Thought Experiments in Pubs meetups: **a chance to meet and talk at about meaningful, thought provoking things**. Although we’ll be going a bit ‘deeper’, we’ll keep the intention to have an enjoyable evening, with good humour and fun. Places are limited to 15-20 people and tickets are £5. Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend so that someone else can have your place. **Who should come:** Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts in Philosophy, it is about *doing* philosophy. If arriving late, please leave a comment on this page and someone will come down ASAP. **Description** This talk, from the perspective of speech pathologists who specialize in communication language, focuses on strategies and perspectives that support all people, with or without a clinical or therapeutic background, in meaningfully engaging with individuals who are non-speaking or minimally-speaking to uplift and celebrate their unique personalities as well as provide space and opportunity for autonomy, self-expression, and connection with others. They'll provide an overview of total communication to broaden understanding of how all individuals use different forms of communication depending on our anatomy, physiology, cognition, preferences, and personality, as well as how we may code-switch depending on the setting, context, and our current state. The importance of being an informed and welcoming communication partner will be discussed to broaden perspectives on the significance of human connection. They'll outline specific, language-based strategies and provide examples. Attendees will have an opportunity to practice self-awareness of their own preferred communication methods, handling discomfort when interactions may push those boundaries, and opening their minds to the idea that connection transcends speech! We'll cover: * What is AAC? (Many different forms) * Strategies such as attributing meaning and verbal referencing * Following someone's lead * Partner-Assisted Scanning (PAS) * Expressive, receptive, and social language * Self-awareness of preferred communication methods **Presenter bios** [Molly Ziegler](https://www.linkedin.com/in/molly-c-ziegler-89351b1a7/) is a communication enthusiast with a passion for assistive technology. Sound Bath
Sound Bath
Our transformational new Sound Bath experience, with Leigh Higgins and Brendan Gibbons, has been designed as a completely immersive self-care experience that assists in overall healing throughout the mind-body in all of its interconnectedness. Physical: Sound vibrations stimulate the limbic system, forcing your muscles to relax and shifting us out of stress or anxiety modes by activating the PSNS/Vagus nerve. This stops the flow of stress hormones, and releases "feel-good" hormones, which lowers heart rate and blood pressure. Because the body is mostly water, it is a great conductor of sound! When these vibrations travel through the body, they promote healthy energy flow, circulation and overall rejuvenation. Emotional: By connecting us to our heart energy, a sound bath has the amazing ability to shift lower vibrational frequencies that can lead to feelings of shame, guilt, anger, fatigue, and depression—to healthier, higher frequencies that promote feelings of peace, love, and joy. Mental: When we listen to sound, it helps us to disengage from thoughts and unhealthy mental patterns that sometimes become overwhelming. This sound bath was designed to assist in creating the mental space we need to achieve focus and clarity of thought, while allowing the mind to clear and reset. Energetic: Sound healing facilitates the release of energetic blockages while promoting energy flow, bringing us back into ease, health, harmony and balance. It actually synchronizes your brainwaves to achieve profound states healing and relaxation! Spiritual: It is nothing short of profound... Sound healing elevates our sense of spiritual well-being by disconnecting from the thinking mind and tapping into the higher self. It allows us to open up and connect more deeply with ourselves. By setting an intention, we are able to receive messages/information about our lives, as well as what actions are in your highest good. In-Studio Price: $35

Look for common ground not for things to hate. We're all friends here, treat each other as such. 4. ARGUMENTS: Listen to each other’s opinion completely in good faith. Of Grammatology (week 2)
Of Grammatology (week 2)
Join us for weekly discussions of Jacques Derrida's 1967 deconstruction of the speech/writing binary in western philosophy, *Of Grammatology*. **Required reading for this meeting: ch. 2 Linguistics and Grammatology (pg. 29) up to The Hinge _[La Brisure_] (pg. 71)** (Note: we’re meeting at 2pm this week instead of our usual 1pm) Most of us are reading the [2016 edition of the book](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DbDLEE6P5JsS9hkTAR-vGfG6E-Wh9BGn/view?usp=sharing). We plan to meet weekly and work our way through the whole book about 30–40 pages at a time. We'll be meeting at Art Cafe + Bar in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. This event is free but we're all still socially obligated to purchase something, and Art Cafe is a cool place that we should support! They have a bar and they serve coffee and tea among other non-alcoholic drinks, as well as food.
