\*\*\*\*\* We're meeting both in-person and virtually via Skype depending on the week. Contact Sonya Lano for more information if you want to join \*\*\*\*\*
This is for anyone wanting feedback! We mostly focus on novels and longer works, but short stories are welcome, as well. You can submit anything you want feedback on in any genre. Current word limit for submissions is 4,000 words. Send your submissions by 13:30 the Thursday before the meeting (or we have a grace period during which you can submit a lower limit of 2,500 words if you submit by midnight Thursday evening). Also, if you don't have time to read through everyone's submissions, still join the meeting! We know that busy schedules don't always make finding reading time easy.
To submit, use the Dropbox folder. If you don't have access to it, send sonyalakadosch@yahoo.com your e-mail address so I can add you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there! My number in case of any confusion the day of the meeting is 737 118 530 - or on Facebook: Sonya Lano (https://www.facebook.com/sonya.lano)
DROPBOX INFO:
* add new submissions for the next meeting in the " submissions" folder for the meeting date. Put your name at the beginning of the file name (for example: "Sonya Somewhere in the Dark")
* When providing written feedback (not required, but deeply welcome), save the file as a separate document on your device, then mark your changes/ feedback in the saved file. After you're finished, put the file in the "Feedback" folder under the folder for the meeting date and then under the person the feedback is for (e.g. "For Sonya").
* The submissions folder will be replaced within a week after the meeting has taken place. Feedback will be deleted within 2 months after the meeting, so if you need it longer than that, make sure to copy it to your own disk.

Friday 13th Creepy Quickie: Cemetery of Fools
Dear Adventurers,
Friday 13th is begging for a visit somewhere creepy. And since it's always nice to incorporate a couple of steep climbs into an innocent city walk, the Bohnice cemetery is an obvious pick. The place has painful history and is shrouded in spooky stories. And for the maximum effect, we'll get there after dark 👻
– It's a city walk, but there will be unpaved parts, so **wear shoes that you don't mind getting dusty/dirty**
– The pace will be leisurely, about 4.5 km/h
– If you're uncomfortable walking in the dark without a light, bring one

*Deep Topics. Real Connections.*
We skip the superficial and discuss life as it REALLY is. From the chaos of modern dating to the future of society, we dive DEEP into heavy topics. We actively listen and honor diverse worldviews, but leave zero space for BS. For us, genuine connection is the norm, not the exception.
*Professionally Hosted*
This is the official meetup of The Globe Bookstore, an iconic hub for Prague's English-speaking community since 1993. Unlike impersonal, AI-driven mass events (Hello Amelia..), our community is genuinely curated. We have a Host always present, a Hostess to warmly welcome you, and a Photographer to capture the best moments.
Come grab a drink and experience the best of Prague, together!
Slave Island on Saturday March 14th@18:00 in Kino Světozor
Join us for a movie night at **Kino Světozor** on **Saturday, March 14th.** We’ll meet at around **17:30** ***at the Světozor cafe*** before the film starts at **18:00.**
I will be waiting front of the bar, so please look me up (reference my meetup photograph).
We'll be watching **[Slave Island](https://www.kinosvetozor.cz/en?projection=46349)**, a movie about "northern Vietnamese electronics factories, where the workforce is predominantly female. Far from their children and husbands, they provide for families who cannot survive through traditional rice farming. The film reflects on their dehumanizing working conditions as well as life in a hierarchical society, where the sustenance of men and the upbringing of children fall solely on their shoulders. In addition to the anonymized testimonies, the film features a unique reconstruction of factory life, performed by actual factory workers."
Come enjoy this screening and stay for a drink and a chat about the film afterwards!
The film is shown with English subtitles.
**NOTE:** Please buy your own tickets in **advance**, else last minute may be sold out (available online: [tickets](https://goout.net/en/tickets/slave-island/iutjb/)).
**Kind request:** If you register to attend but later cannot make it, please update your RSVP in time — thank you!

Shut Up & Write!® Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
• What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at noon on Sundays.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
12:00 - quick intros.
12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
• What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The Café on Sunday!

Bad Girls Book Club March 2026
**Our March pick is *God of the Woods* by Liz Moore.**
**This month’s novel is an award-winning literary mystery that blends family drama with psychological suspense. It explores women’s voices and relationships while delivering an exciting, eerie, and deeply suspenseful story. The book is 576 pages in print or 14 hours and 35 minutes on audiobook.**
Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.
As a panicked search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds. Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community working in its shadow, Moore’s multi-threaded story invites readers into a rich and gripping dynasty of secrets and second chances. It is Liz Moore’s most ambitious and wide-reaching novel yet.

Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Hope to see you on March 28th!
