Saturday Afternoon Life Drawing & Painting LONG POSE
This is just a studio session, with no Zoom.
We will have a life model in the same pose for three hours in the afternoon, usually for two consecutive weeks.
This is an untutored session run by a professional painter who will always be happy to give advice.
Other than model breaks, usually every 25 minutes, we break for tea and cake at 3.30pm for twenty minutes.
Our studio is divided up into workstations or ‘positions’ and whilst each position has a good view of the model many artists prefer to be front and centre. (Actually, you often get a more interesting composition to the side of the room).
You can also just turn up at the studio on spec and find a place to paint.
Our studio has a light and friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced painter, come and paint with us! We have a wonderful community of artists who join us each week.
Costs
From £20 – £25 per session

Embodying Movement – Drawing Sensation
**Autumn Term 2025**
Spring Term
Sunday, March 1st
10.00am- 4.00pm
**Tutor: Daisy Perkins**
**Dancer and model: Flora Baltz**
*Cost £95*
Drawing and image making often works best when the whole of our mind-body is engaged.
* Discover new ways of drawing
* Respond to live movement with line, rhythm, gesture, and mass.
* Experiment with materials and scale, from fluid ink washes to large collaborative drawings, blending abstraction with the figure.
* Develop a resolved final work and leave with a fresh, embodied approach to mark-making that you can carry into your own practice.
During this workshop we will become interested in how we can connect with movement, and how we can use this to make more powerful uncontrived visual statements.
* **Notice how your own body feels and responds**
* **Let physical sensation, rhythm, and inner state guide mark-making**
* **Feel movement in the body before translating it into drawing**
This workshop brings together the disciplines of drawing and dance to explore new ways of seeing, sensing, and making. Guided by Daisy and working with a dancer, participants will step beyond conventional figure drawing into a more embodied, responsive practice. You’ll begin by treating the hand as a seismograph—a recorder of rhythm and presence rather than mere outline—using movement awareness, gestural drawing, and collective mark-making to open up expressive possibilities.
You’ll develop from free-flowing experiments into a resolved final work that blends abstraction, gesture, and form. Along the way, you’ll try out a variety of dry and wet media and experiment with mass, line, erasure, expression, disruption and layering, as you learn to capture both motion and stillness. With space for reflection and discussion built in, the workshop offers not only technical exploration but also a deepening sense of the creative process. Attendees will leave with fresh approaches to drawing the figure, a body of experimental works, and the beginnings of a personal language informed by movement, rhythm, and embodied experience.
* We will be working with a nude dancer
* Materials provided
* We plan to share a vegetarian lunch £12, optional.

With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following:
1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank.
2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed)
3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film.

4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc.
Remember to bring:
1. You and your enthusiasm
2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever)
3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers
All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt!

“Your life doesn’t happen in any kind of order. Events don’t have cause and effect relationships the way you wish they did. It’s all a series of fragments and repetitions and pattern formations. Language and water have this in common.”
\~ Lidia Yuknavitch
Directed by Kristen Stewart and based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s acclaimed memoir, this film is where cinema and memoir collide, and where water isn’t just the element, but a metaphor: for pain, for pleasure and for the lasting echo of a queer life lived fully.
*The Chronology of Water* traces the fragmented life of writer Lidia Yuknavitch, moving fluidly through childhood trauma, competitive swimming, sex, addiction, and artistic awakening. Told in impressionistic bursts rather than a linear narrative, the film treats memory like water—unstable, embodied, and impossible to contain. It’s less about redemption than survival: how a queer, unruly self is shaped through pain, desire, and the radical act of telling one’s own story.
**About Muse: The Cinephiles**
This is a cinephiles group for lesbians, queer and trans women predominantly, but is also open to the wider LGBTQIA+ community and their guests. We are committed to celebrating our queer community within a co-created ethos of mutual respect and kindness. We affirm and celebrate trans and non-binary people as member of our community. We stand against transphobia in all its forms.
Our aim is to provide a queer cinephiles group that stimulates a mix of thoughtful discussion, playfulness, and curiosity. Our screenings will focus predominantly on celebrating lesbian, queer and trans women – showcasing both celebrated and hidden queer cinema gems, we aim to foster a playful curiosity and build a vibrant, supportive community.
**Please note:** PHOTOS & VIDEOS will be taken at our events. Some of these will be posted on our social media. Please come and chat to a host if you would prefer not to appear online.

EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT is directed by Baz Luhrmann and uses rare and previously unseen interviews and videos of Elvis in concert to create “one of the most exciting concert films you’ve ever seen!” SCREAM 7 assembles previous cast members and great newcomers for the next chapter of one of the most reliable horror franchises! In this film, a new Ghostface killer emerges with the daughter of Sidney Prescott becomes the next target. Here are details, trailers and our plan for this event:
EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT uses rare and previously unseen interviews and concert footage to create “one of the most exciting concert films you’ve ever seen!” In addition to the stellar reviews, the film was runner up for the People’s Choice Award for Documentaries at the Toronto Film Festival. The film is earning a Certified Fresh 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes (and a 99% positive rating audiences)! The RT site declares, “Resurrecting Elvis Presley at the peak of his showmanship, Baz Luhrmann's truly epic concert documentary restores some joy into The King's legacy.” Film Threat adds, “The most beautiful thing about EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is that in connecting us so intimately to the man and showing him in all his complexity, Luhrmann cuts through the baggage we bring and gives us a fresh look at one of the most fascinating and accomplished musicians who has ever lived.” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmqWusmzp0k
SCREAM 7: This is an opening night showing of next chapter in one of the best and most reliable horror franchises! The stellar ensemble case includes Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Courteney Cox all reprising their roles from the previous films, along with Isabel May, Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O'Connor and Joel McHale!
