Francesco Schepisi (Bari, 1990) es un pianista y compositor italiano cuya voz artística nace del encuentro entre lirismo mediterráneo, tradición afroamericana y una constante búsqueda expresiva. Activo desde 2009 en la escena nacional e internacional, Schepisi representa una de las personalidades emergentes más interesantes del nuevo jazz italiano. Tras haber acumulado numerosas experiencias concertísticas y discográficas como co-líder y sideman, junto a algunos de los artistas más reconocidos del jazz nacional e internacional, presenta su primer proyecto como band leader, Elevation. Publicado por Abeat Records en 2025, el álbum está compuesto por once temas, nueve de ellos firmados por Schepisi, y cuenta con la participación del trompetista neoyorquino Michael Rodriguez como invitado especial. La vena compositiva del pianista explora la evolución de su mundo interior, transformando en un viaje sonoro las dinámicas y los contrastes emocionales que rigen el ánimo humano. Melodías incisivas y evocadoras se abren paso a través de paisajes mediterráneos y pinceladas impresionistas, encontrando impulsos improvisativos propios de un sonido de jazz contemporáneo. Con Elevation, Schepisi devuelve en música una renovada conciencia, fruto de un camino de búsqueda artística y personal. The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. **Complex Trauma Support Group** Our group is intended for survivors of complex trauma. If you are here, it’s likely that so much of who you are and what you have experienced in this life is actually invisible to most people––to family, society, coworkers, and the people who are around you. We are a peer-led group of survivors creating opportunities for ourselves and others to share our experiences, share support, and build relationships in kind community together. Survivor experiences might include: child sexual abuse, incest, child trafficking, and other experiences of people living with traumatic dissociation and complex PTSD. **What to expect at your first meeting:** Currently, we are offering a bi-monthly in person group at 2:00pm on the first and third Sunday of the month. The only criterion for joining the group is that you are a survivor of trauma wishing to have more kindness in your own life and share kindness with others, and that you agree to practice to group’s relational agreements available for view here: https://www.kindgroups.com/agreements. Joining the group is free of charge. We ask that new people connect with us for 30 minutes on the phone or on zoom before coming to their first group, so that we can determine together that we are a good fit. Our meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Participants are never required to share. You’re also welcome to choose a pseudonym and you will never be asked for private information. You are welcome to leave at any time. The kindness that survivors can share when among others who have survived similar childhood experiences is something we rarely get to experience. Time spent with others who understand even a little bit more about us is a relief. Our hope is to help ourselves and others experience that we are not alone.
