**Hi everyone!** We’ll now be meeting twice a week at Denizen House (Köpenicker Str. 40, 10179 Berlin), on **Mondays and Wednesdays**! * **Mondays:** levels A1 to B1 * **Wednesdays:** levels B1 to C1 We work with dedicated materials tailored to each level, so everyone will have a place to practice and improve. **Event schedule** * **18:00 – 18:30** Arrival and registration * **18:30 – 19:50** Sprachcafé * **19:50 – 20:00** End and clean up Please be aware that the moderated event starts at **18:30**. Before this time, we are busy setting up the space. Registrations usually take place around **18:15 / 18:20**. Participants are kindly asked **not to arrive too far in advance** at the house. If someone arrives much earlier, Denizen may ask them to pay either for a drink (consumption) or for a **day pass**, as the space is a co-working environment during the day. **Please remember, our event is only happening from 18:00 to 20:00** **How the Sprachcafé works** We use different materials to help participants gain confidence in German. Together with whiteboards and our volunteers, the Sprachcafé is based on **interactive conversations** in small groups. **Participation fee** The Sprachcafé has a **participation fee of 5 €**, which helps cover organizational costs and **includes one soft drink for free**. Tickets can be purchased directly on the day of the event, card and cash payments are accepted. As the Sprachcafé has become very popular, we now need to **limit the number of participants**. Please understand this measure; it ensures that everyone has a comfortable space to practice. We kindly ask you to be **rücksichtsvoll** and only RSVP “Yes” if you are certain you can attend. A welfare state takes responsibility for its people and supports them when in need. When costs are rising, but budgets aren’t, government needs to find efficiency gains to maintain social protection levels. A government-commissioned report recently recommended ways to modernise social and welfare services, making them more people-friendly and less bureaucratic. Meanwhile, small and large projects are underway to make benefits services more fair and easier to navigate, and to make the state overall more equitable. At our March meetup, we will hear about what a modern, digitally transformed welfare state looks like. Expats and English speakers are a big part of our city, neighborhood and our community. Walk & Talk is an opportunity for you to **meet other English-speaking people** right in your own neighborhood, without needing to travel to events at the other end of town. It is also an invitation to **get to know your local Stadtteilzentrum** Prenzlauer Berg (community center Prenzlauer Berg) and to discover more community offerings here on site! Every Sunday at 2:00pm, we meet at the Stadtteilzentrum and take a **group walk through the neighborhood** to various, interesting places. Along the way we exchange and get to know each other – stories, journeys, ideas, hobbies, tips for leisure, and more. Our meeting starts in the foyer of the Stadtteilzentrum; please be on time so you don’t get left behind! In the STZ kitchen we can **grab a coffee or a take-away tea** (we recommend to bring your own to-go cup) and get to know the space before we head out. Maybe I’m part idiot, but I believe in the innate decency of people, that people will be respectful, and that if someone does not update their RSVP and fails to attend it could be that they have had a serious accident and are in hospital. The question, “Does the Starry Hour have something to do with poetry? It doesn’t say anything about poetry...” was put to me. Well yes, poets often reference the stars, as far as I’m aware, which is a direction into astronomy, or even a gentle encouragement that we should keep our heads up and maintain our wellbeing. For example, the poet Philip Larkin in the poem ‘The North Ship’, in the first poem, tells with hwyl, “Under an fire-spilling star,”. For Poetry & Puls there is the context of the starry sky above us, as when we have no knowledge of astronomy we can’t read the poetry. Since we are interested in reading poetry, Starry Hours are good. Knowledge of the stars is also good for people on the move, and we like to often be on the move. Mir wurde die Frage gestellt „Hat die Sternstunde etwas mit Poetry zu tun? Da steht nichts von Poetry...“ Naja, Dichter nehmen oft Bezug auf die Sterne, glaube ich. Das ist eine Weisung in die Astronomie, halt einen Vorschlag, dass man den Kopf hochhalten und aufrechterhalten solle. Unser internationales Sprachcafé richtet sich an Alt- und Neu-Berliner\*innen, Reisende und Anwohner\*innen - alle sind willkommen! The Drinking wine in F'hain - event is back! Enjoy good company, meet old friends while having a good glas of wine. The winebar wein&gut offers different types of wine as well as nonalcoholic drinks. Lately they also offer nonalcoholic wine and sparkling wine, which is quite exquisite. This event costs 2€ for covering meetup fees and my effords. Please pay at the counter. During the evening we will offer different fingerfood for affordable price. The event starts at 6pm, but the winebar is already open. The event ends around 9pm. During the summer there will be extended opening hours. Next stations are Samariterstr or Frankfurter Allee. I am really looking forward to see you people again!

We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
